Winos!
We are looking for 7 townsfolk to form a team and compete against the 7 members of the 2010 Varsity Blind Wine tasting team.
Over the years CWM have supported Cambridge in their efforts to reign supreme.
So this year we invite you challenge the team (and help them hone their skills)
The Varsity Match will take place on 25th February at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in Mayfair, London, and is judged by Wine Superheroes Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson.
This is how it works....
- 6 whites are tasted over 40 mins,
- followed by a short break
- then 6 reds over 40 mins.
All single varietals (or classic blends such as Bordeaux and Rhone blends) from fairly classic places - both new and old world - but nothing too wacky!
Scoring is as follows
- Tasting note (5 points),
- Varietal (5 points),
- Country (3 points),
- Region (2 points),
- Subregion (3 points)
- Vintage (2 points).
Total of 20 potential marks available per wine.
The winning team will be announced on 24th February.
