A Brief Introduction to Tasting Wine and how to do it

After a short break we are now resuming our tastings and have decided that this was the perfect time to hold our ‘Introduction to Wine Appreciation’ course. Over six weeks we will be holding tastings focusing on the basics of enjoying wine, covering each of the major distinctions within. While the tastings are structured as a course, you are still of course welcome to come along to any individual tasting you wish to attend.

The tastings will be educational but informal so hopefully you can come along have a fun evening, drink some great wine and learn a little bit too. We won’t preach any strict rules but instead let you understand how to interpret your own palette and learn what works for you.

In this first tasting we’ll talk you through the basics of tasting a wine, from how to hold a glass (and why), what to look for, how to notice it and how to impress your friends with your new found talents. We’ll discuss how to interpret tasting notes by deciphering overly verbose wine lingo and help you make more informed decisions. We’ll also cover the basics of food matching.

All tastings are held at Maxi’s Café just across from our shop on Raeburn Place at 7pm.

£15 individually or you can sign up to the entire course for £70 – saving yourself £20 and making sure you don’t miss out on anything.
