Pink Port and Tonic: the best invention since Mr Dyson got his hands on a hoover!
We’ve found it! The perfect aperitif and party drink! Pink Port served chilled with ice and a slice lengthened with tonic water. Watch the old guard of the Port world nervously roll their eyes as you serve this colourful tradition breaking drink.
Think of it as a seriously flavoursome and fruity Gin and Tonic or light Pimms No1 rather than a rich, heavy after dinner drink. It has a moorish strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant sweetness but with a bitter citric twist and work wonders with the dryness of tonic. It’s creamy and mouth filling but still maintains a surprising freshness and cleansing feel.
Croft Pink is the first Rosé Port to be released and many other houses are following with their own versions. It’s really make sense. The fortified wine industry is suffering from poor sales and a unfashionable reputation with young wine buyers. Our fortified wine traditions are not being passed down to the next generation. Step in Croft Pink! This wine is being marketed to mixologists in the swankiest of cocktail bars and they love it. It is incredibly versatile as an ingredient in cocktails. So, once you’ve had it on the rocks with tonic, then these to get yourself started:
Pink Jasmine Punch:
One part Croft Pink to one part iced Jasmine tea. Serve with ice and diced strawberries
Spiced Portugal:
Muddle some melon chunks and half a seedless red chilli (seriously!). Remove the pulp and the serve the juices with a large measure of Croft Pink and ice cubes.
Apple Pink Julep:
In a long glass place 10 to 15 mint leaves and a shot of apple juice. Gently press to extract the full aroma of the mint and add a large measure of Pink Port. Add some ice and swizzle until the cocktail is chilled and then serve with a fan of apple.
Deluxe Pleasure:
Pour the Port over strawberry or raspberry sorbet and finish with some grated white chocolate and a sprig of mint.
Port Pick‘n’Mix
