On Monday, 1st February, Matt Herde visited our Mill Road branch for one of our popular and informative customer tastings. He is the export director of Tahbilk - situated in Victoria, Australia and founded in 1860.
Matt explained a few things about vinification and terroir, and then went on to present some of Tahbilk's most popular creations: they have a lot of Marsanne, a white grape variety that is usually found in Southern France. The 2002 Marsanne showed especially well.
We also tried the Viognier, before moving on to the Reds - Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and then the masterpiece:
the 1860 Vines Shiraz from 2002.
This wine is made from the oldest ungrafted Shiraz wines that can be found in all Australia. A real slice of history, and worth every penny!

As usual, our lovely customers hat lots of fun and learned many new things about Tahbilk, which is very well known in Australia but just starting to build up a name in the UK.
