Bridge Street Wine Bar

Cambridge Wine Merchants Wine Bar, Bridge Street

Reckoned the best wine bar in Cambridge and voted by the Sunday Times as one of the 25 best wine bars in the UK.

The bar is on a charming corner just by Magdalene Bridge with views over to Magdalene College, St John’s College, and the river.

Our outside tables and window tables are a perfect place to watch Cambridge life go by.

Here's how it works.

The bar is fully waiter service.

Choose by the glass (from under £5), or by the bottle from bar list or our 900-strong multi-award winning wine range.

For still wines of a retail price of £35+ you pay only the retail price; for other wines the difference between bar and take-away retail is normally £10, which is great value

- under half the difference at a regular London wine bar.

We also have the world’s most advanced Enomatic machine dispensing samples and higher end wines by the glass.

There's food to choose from: delicious deli platters, scotch eggs etc.

We don't serve hot meals but there's enough on offer to constitute lunch or a light dinner.

Our by the glass list includes sherry, port, dessert wines and various oddities hiding in the fridge,

and Champagne offers by the bottle (including ¼ bottles).

There’s a limited range of craft beer and cider.

Spirits: Negroni, Summer Cup, fizz cocktails and over 30 different gins available for G&Ts plus over 100

species of Whisky, Gin, Cognac, Vodka and Rum on offer by the measure to drink in the bar.

Party venue - book part or all of the bar area for your own tutored tasting event, drinks party or dinner party.

Seats 60. As this bar is so busy the options for big bookings can be limited but we have other central party locations available too.

Email gareth.cambridgewine@gmail.com for info.

Table bookings and groups. Sorry but we don’t take regular table bookings - just turn up,

we’ll do our best to get you seated, or call 01223 568989 to check how busy we are.

We don’t normally seat groups of more than six except by prior arrangement as the bar is set up with

small tables for small groups.

Further info

The bar is open from 12am to 9pm weekdays & Sunday, to 11pm Friday and Saturday.

but there's easy pay and display parking nearby on Chesterton Road or Pound Hill (free in the evenings).

The Cambridge Bridge Street bus stop almost opposite the shop is served by both Newmarket Rd

and Madingley Rd Park and Ride bus routes, and the Citi 5 and 6 routes too.
