Albarino Day – Cambridge Wine Merchants x Fin Boys Pop Up

We’re stoked to be welcoming Fin Boys to our Cherry Hinton Road branch to help us celebrate Albarino Day on Saturday 1 August. We love their pop up kitchen at Mill Road Winter Fair so much we begged them to come and join us … and they said yes!
International Albariño Day is celebrated annually on August 1st to honour the crisp, aromatic white wine made from the Albariño grape. It coincides with the final day of the famous Fiesta do Albariño in Cambados, Galicia, Spain.
The Fiesta’s roots go back to a wine contest in1952: Sparked by a friendly summer competition between local producers Bernardo Quintanilla and Ernesto Zárate to see who made the finest vintage. The Festival was officially established the following year in 1953 in Cambados, the heart of the Rías Baixas region in Galicia, Spain.
The Festival has grown into a multi-day celebration featuring street music, local food, and coastal revelry.
Our take on Albarino Day will involve next level street food from the fabulous Fin-Boys and an Albarino takeover of our wine bar at Cherry Hinton Road.
Delicious dishes inspired by Galician cuisine with the finest British seafood, there are four dishes on the menu, individually priced.
A selection of Albarino will be served by the glass and bottle, with generous discounts on the day on bottles bought to enjoy at home.
