Domaine Rolly-Gassmann
3 for the price of 2.
Rolly-Gassmann is a domaine like no other and has a unique style. It is located at Rorschwihr, a sleepy village on the northern rim of Haut-Rhin. The vineyards are located in Rorschwihr and the neighbouring Rodern and Bergheim. The wines are small masterpieces with very good definition. They all carry the signature of Rolly-Gassmann, a certain shameless, velvety sweetness. The fruit is rich and manages to balance the fruit with a vibrant acidity to form wines that melt on the palate.

Domaine Bruno Sorg
3 for the price of 2.
What a joy, and a rare treat. Very old vine Pinot Gris is quite a rarity across Alsace. Mature Pinot Gris wines develop gorgeous nutty creamy flavours over time - but that's a long time to wait. Strangely such a wine, although quite young, made from ancient vines, seems to offer some of the same complexity. Ripe orchard fruits on the nose, oily creamy spicy flavours to follow. full bodied. What a food wine!

The Garnacha and Mouvèdre varieties from our Finca Piedramonte co-ferment in tanks and then the Syrah from our Finca Río Seco is added, which was aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. Bright black plum colour of medium intensity and violet reflections. On the nose it has a fruity and fresh entry. Agricola Vintners

Callum Powell has learnt from the best when it comes to Syrah. He practically grew up in the cellars at Torbreck, the Barossa winery his father co-founded, watching it grow from the modest start up in a small shed to the international power house of today. He spent a year at Jean-Louis Chave in the Northern Rhone, one of THE top producers of Hermitage and St Joseph, learning more about his craft. His recent project with his father named Powell & Son sought out the best vineyards in Barossa and Eden and experimented with natural winemaking and indigenous yeasts, and gained him much international attention. Callum now brings his knowledge and natural instinct to his own wines. Sourcing fruit from his family's vineyards as well as the famous Hoffmann sites, Callum is quickly stepping out of his father’s shadow and making a name for himself. His time in Hermitage and the many hours working the perilously steep slopes of the vineyards continues to influence him today. His wines are both named after the towns from which the fruit is sourced, recalling the site specific way of naming wines in Hermitage. And he even likens his different wines to the characteristics produced from the different lieux-dits of Chave. Producing wines with a very light hand, with only minimal SO2 added a atr bottling, Callum aims to create lithe wines that are pure, unadulterated, and without the heavy oak influence that the region is known for, with a true traceability of place. Classic, bold, rich and beautiful Ebenezer fruit but with real energy and acidity. Pretty much perfect Barosssa Shiraz. It's classic, but modern - in the best sense. Absolutely wonderful. 12 bottles only available. Be quick!

Heartland

A unique blend not made in Italy or anywhere else, 'Sposa' means spouse in Italian, making this wine a marriage made in Langhorne Creek from two delicious grape varieties. Yet another absolute ripper of a wine from the genius Ben Glaetzer. The opposite of understated - full-bore both barrels of everything. Spark up the barbie... Parker 92/100 "...a blend of Lagrein and Dolcetto and is a vivid purple in the glass. Dark, moody, distinct, pure in its dark way and spicy to boot. You get anise, licorice, peppercorns, layers of raspberry and blackberry and also blueberry, blood plum and fennel. It's a ripper. Dark and lusty... This was tasted blind as part of the "Value for Money" tasting in September 2023."

Peter Lehman
3 for the price of 2.
Brilliant lemon in colour with a straw-yellow hue, this Chardonnay displays pronounced peach and nectarine aromas, with subtle spicy and charred notes from the oak fermentation and maturation. The palate bursts with flavours of freshly picked white nectarine and citrus, with a crisp and lingering acidity balanced perfectly by toasty oak complexity. Once at the winery, the fruit was fermented in a mix of stainlesssteel tanks and oak barrels - a small percentage in new French oak and the remainder in older American and French oak hogsheads. After fermentation, the wine in barrel spent around 10 months on the lees with occasional stirring, to add texture and complexity. The portion that was fermented in stainless steel remained in contact with the lees for a 6-month period, with regular stirring. Finally, each component underwent a gentle fining before being blended and bottled.

Chateau La Louviere

Fermented in steel or concrete tanks. Aged 12 months in barrel, 20% new. Deep cherry red and an impression of freshness in the aroma. Still lots of pure dark fruit, stony cassis and a hint of oak. On the palate, this is refined in texture, fresh in a warm year, with a touch of chocolate sweetness on the finish that seems to be from the oak. Elegantly structured by the tannins, tightly wound even with that chocolate smoothness on the finish. Needs time and should age thanks to the balance between fruit and structure.

Château Latour-Martillac

The Lacroix-Martillac is a pale-yellow colour with green highlights. An intense and fresh nose, on typical aromas of Sauvignon: blackcurrant buds, citrus and white peach. The mouth is juicy, fresh and pleasing. A long finish, marked by its freshness.

Chateau Suduiraut

This dry white Bordeaux from a great producer in Sauternes has a new name from 2021, Lions de Suduiraut Sec. Half of the wine is aged in oak barrels, the other half in stainless steel. With bright acidity and plenty of lovely citrus fruit the wine is ready to drink but will keep for 4 years.

Chateau Rieussec
3 for the price of 2.
Rieussec is one of the biggest estates of Sauternes with 227 acres of vines above the Garonne River in Bordeaux. This a wonderful blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The estate began in the 18th century followed by several owners. It is now owned by Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) as of 1984. Citrus lemon, then honey, peach and apricot, with hints of mineral salinity. Aged in older oak which adds some texture but not flavour. Impressive and a very good vintage for dry white Bordeaux.

Domaine Armand Heitz

Juliénas is a terroir of schist and blue stone. The same type of soil as on the Côtes de Brouilly and Côtes de Py. In general, these characteristics call for intense and robust wines. At the domaine, I prefer to emphasise the finesse and elegance of the terroirs. My style of vinification with short vatting periods, no punching down and just a few pump-overs, goes very well with this masculine appellation.
