Miles Davis, eccentric, mad, funky and definitely not a light wine. Quite incredible that it’s the same grape, vinification and area as the ‘Hub’, just different soil. Bolder and more tannic, grippy with a very long finish and so limited! 2 hectares of vines, that’s it!

Pale lemon in colour, this Sauvignon Blanc combines aromas of fresh grapefruit and lime, followed by green gooseberry and melon on the palate. Herbaceous flavours marry exquisitely with fresh tingling acidity creating a crisp lively finish.

This is a purple-red wine with hints of violet. It offers red fruit aromas intermingled with spice, mocha and vanilla. In the mouth, there are smooth and silky tannins which together provide a long, pleasant finish with touches of mature fruits.

This Loire Valley sweet wine has a lovely golden colour with rich aromas of peach and pear giving a "chewing the fruit" sensation. A very complex, persistent and well balanced wine.

Weissburgunder is the German name for the Pinot Blanc grape variety and is enjoying a rennaissance. Not much planted in the Mosel valley so this one from Richter is a rarity. Fine notes of pear, gooseberry, some hay and classic slate minerals. Slim and elegant!

Deep ruby colour with dark red hues. The nose has aromas of blackberry, coffee, clove and wild herbs. The palate is layered, with velvety tannins, fresh acidity and a persistent finish. Aigialeia, in the northwestern Peloponnese, is among Greece’s most distinctive wine-growing regions. Set against the rugged terrain of the Panachaiko mountains, the area’s high elevations, northern exposure, steep, sloping vineyards and proximity to the Corinthian Gulf help moderate high temperatures, creating a growing environment unlike anything else in the Peloponnese. It is here that Michalis Kanakaris founded his eponymous winery in 1979, focusing on indigenous varieties Roditis, Sideritis and Mavro Kalavrytino grown on Aigialeia’s sandy, red/white clay soils. Today, Kanakaris is run by the third generation of Michalis’ family, with brothers Stefanos and Michalis taking over the reins in 2009. Capturing a sense of place is at the core of Kanakaris’ winemaking ethos. Stefanos and Michalis work closely with like-minded growers, farming 55 hectares of vines planted between 450 and 1150 metres above sea level. These vineyards, dotted with olive groves and citrus trees, are situated on either side of the valleys and gorges of the five rivers of the Peloponnese, which flow down from the mountains to the Corinthian Gulf. While maintaining their grandfather's original focus on Roditis, Sideritis and Mavro Kalavrytino, the brothers have also added Malagouzia, Moschofilero and Agiorgitiko to their remit, alongside the international varieties Merlot and Syrah. All Kanakaris’ fruit is hand-harvested and vinified in their recently renovated modern winery, equipped with a range of stainless-steel tanks to capture the aromatics of Greece’s indigenous varieties and Aigialeia’s vineyards.

Gold colour, intense flavours of apricots, melon, grass, quince, honey, butter, oak, mushroom, earthy, salt, minerals. Off dry with high acidity, full body and a medium finish. Has ageing potential. Founded in 2006 the Breitenbach winery is nestled in the heart of Hungary's Tokaji wine region. With just 6 hectares of 40-80 year old vines their focus is on the native grapes Furmint and Hárslevelu?. Viticulture is done by hand and the mission is quality not quantity which is evident in their wines.

This natural wine has a complex nose of citrus fruit, lemon zest and citrus blossoms along with hint of tropical fruits, herbs and sweet spices. Fresh, crisp and lovely minerality on the finish.

Brilliant straw yellow . Intensely fruity bouquet with notes of white peach and grapefruit combined with hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate it is intense and mineral.

91/100!!!! 100% Pinot Nero, Red Angel has an aroma that is heady, well-orchestrated, and slightly herbaceous. The Pinot Nero stands out with elegant finesse, having been aged in oak for five months, it is fresh and light in style. Jermann own a combined 170 hectares of prime vineyards at their two estates in Collio and Isonzo. From Austria’s Burgenland to Biljana in Slovenia, the Jermann family’s journey would see Anton Jermann lead them over the border to Farra d’Isonzo, in Italy’s pretty, hilly, nearby Friuli in 1881. Today, this is where the winery still resides. Leaning on Anton’s legacy, Silvio Jermann, Anton Jermann’s great grandson, has since turned the Jermann name into a reference point, not only for the region, but for Italy as a whole.

Costamiòle is produced from the vineyards in the Agliano Terme area, a place where Barbera best expresses itself thanks to a favourable southern exposure, ideal for this grape variety. Aged in small oak barrels, this wine is able to maintain the grape’s extraordinary freshness and aromatic qualities. Costamiòle is deep ruby red in colour with dark purple hues. Its nose is rich with aromas of fruit, plums and cherries that merge with hints of violets, cinnamon, cacao and leather. Its mouth filling palate is rich in supple yet well-structured tannins.

Not to detract from their authentic Jura heart, the two Pelican whites - Chardonnay and Savagnin - offer an instantly lovable journey into Jura style for those wary of oxidative surprises as both are made 'topped-up' rather than in oxidative style and with a clear salute to the heritage of their grand Burgundian owner. On the nose a Meursault-esque reductive whiff, ozone and saline, tempered tempting posh new oak; even before a sip these are out and proud posh wines. The Savagnin is wild, vegetal in a fine garden/herb garden sense, salty and zesty and oddly sweet mango and hot straw, almost Savennieres-like with its broad back, whack of acid and suave new-oak integration. Chardonnay smells like top end Bien Nacido but unfurls into Jura idiom with fine acidity, limpid lift, seashells and citrus. Both, quite frankly, nicely-priced for such a grand, fascinating and extraordinary wines. I'd 100% recommend both - try them together! Jancisrobinson.com 17/20

Biodynamic farming although not certified. 100% Roussanne planted on their highest vineyards, a steep north-facing slope in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains. Isolated vineyards surrounded by herbaceous shrub and woodland on schist and basalt boulders. Hand-picked at 20-25 hl/ha, Five days' on skins then 48 hours of cold settling before racking. Spontaneous fermentation, no enzymes, no fining, minimal sulphur and sulphites. Carbon dioxide nap used to avoid oxidation.

Beautifully resolved and brilliant Faugeres in a handy lunch time 50cl format. A dreamy bin-end offer. Snap it up!

Natural Petit Verdot raised in amphora by vigneron Simon Bertschinger. The winery is based in Fos, but the vineyards are just south of Faugeres in the clay foothills. Simon is doing some remarkabke stuff with some interesting grape varieties. Bright and vigourous but with depth and focus. Brilliant wine.

70 % Sangiovese, 30% Syrah, is amongst the very best in the Languedoc. Intense color, pretty aromas of white flowers. With a nice roundness, this wine will accompany your grilled fish, garnished summer salads, crustaceans etc.

Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Marsanne and Roussanne. Lovely lifted floral fruit, gorgeous texture and lovely freshness. We loved this.

Carignan, Grenache, Syrah. Lifted, natural, fresh and charming tasting Southern French red wine of great character. We loved this.
