Plantation
The house of Cognac, Cognac Ferrand is at the origin of this fascinating brand that is Plantation Rum. Maison Ferrand originally maintained privileged relationships with the best distilleries in the Caribbean to which it sells barrels that have contained its Cognac. The barrels of the Ferrand house are very popular with some rum producers who use them to refine their product. During these exchanges, Alexandre Gabriel had the opportunity to discover very old batches with an aromatic richness and a diversity of extraordinary aromas.

Lochlea
The fourth and final in an annual series of limited seasonal bottlings, Lochlea 'Ploughing Edition' represents the season of Winter on the farm, when we start to plough the fields in preparation for sowing the barley seed in Spring. Production Director John Campbell has chosen a combination of ex-Islay barrels and peated quarter casks for this release, to create a warming, smoky version of our signature Lochlea whisky. Our tasting notes include boiled sweets, cooked apple and brazil nuts all intertwined with a comforting haze of lingering peat.

Bruichladdich
Edition 14.1 of Bruichladdich’s Octomore series was made with barley grown on the Scottish mainland and malted to 128.ppm creating a heavily peated single malt. This whisky was matured for five years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks, imparting aromas of smoked caramel, roasted almonds and barbecue pork on the nose, with bright citrus notes, smoked heather and ground coffee on the palate. After five aged years in first fill ex-American oak casks, Adam has offered a unique twist in this 13.1, having gathered and recasked the spirit in 2021 into yet more fresh, first fill ex-American oak casks. This final injection of flavour, taken from the interaction between the spirit and the oak offers additional flavours of dark toffee, coconut and vanilla.

Glenmorangie
New for 2023 from Glenmorangie distillery, here we have a 16-year-old age statement release named 'The Nectar'. Created with casks sourced from Sauternes and Montbazillac regions of France, which infused this single malt with luxurious flavours reminiscent of delicate pastries, including brioche, meringue, and the warm richness of baked apples. In turn, Moscatel casks from Spain impart layers of decadent cake-like nuances alongside a delightful, sweet syrup essence. To complete the spectrum, barrels from Tokaji in Hungary bestow a cascade of white chocolate, almond, and honeycomb tastes into the final result.

A mellow, aromatic dry gin from Booth's that has been aged in casks that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry. The palate offers notes of rosemary, grapefruit, camphor, lemon, chamomile and soft oak spice that linger in the finish. Booth's was originally established in 1740 by the eponymous family who founded the first distillery in London. Their distinctively golden gin - instantly recognisable thanks to the octagonal bottles it was presented in - was discontinued in the 1970s, an event much lamented by gin connoisseurs.

Jung & Wulff Barbados is an 86-proof, full-bodied, buttery, aged rum that exemplifies its Barbados terroir. Highly acclaimed, it is widely enjoyed in cocktails, neat, or on the rocks. It is a powerful yet elegant rum true to the character of Barbados.

There are so many complex layers of flavour, and it will be different for everyone. But, our blender Shona Macleod gets a gentle peat smoke on the first sip which reminds her of island home fires burning when she was growing up. It comes along with a toasted maltiness. She can also taste homemade apple sauce and smell machair flowers, particularly white clover which springs up on our west coast every summer. Mixed spices appear, and an old-fashioned sweetness from things like candied ginger, vanilla, and honeycomb. Finally, there’s a long, clotted-cream note, mixed with a lasting sense of new leather. It will be a lightly peated dram, at around 12-15ppm
