Piedlong
The Brunier family, owners of Domaine de Vieux Telepraphe in Chateauneuf du Pape, also makes 'Piedlong'. The 2020 Piedlong is utterly gorgeous. Crunchy on the nose, with rose petal and loads of wild strawberries, there's a lacy textured, and just a hint of citrus, too. This is delicate, elegant Grenache. It comes very highly recommended. Soft and attractive, very silky with lovely juicy red fruits and touches of spice. Elegant yet rich. From the Piedlong plateau which has lighter, sandier soils compared to La Crau.

Chateau de Fesles
An emblematic property of Anjou, the Château de Fesles and its wine estate were built in the 11th century at the top of the 4th highest point in the Loire Valley. Its exceptional geographical position as well as its proximity to the Layon river allow it to produce wines with a distinguished and complex character. Buttery and creamy on the nose with a lovely dose of oak giving honeycomb and caramel notes to the green apple and peach fruit. Lovely precise acidity and chalky tannic texture. Long, bright, flavoursome and characterful. Starting to show some attractive development on the finish too.

Sixth generation Francoise Antech has taken this excellent producer to even greater heights, championing the Limoux region and Mauzac grape variety around the globe. The UK is the family's largest market , now looked after by seventh generation Baptiste. This is the first priced wine in a range of their Blanquettes and Cremants that we recommend. Blanquette de Limoux has a claim to being one of the world's oldest sparkling wines, with legend dating its creation to 1531. Made mainly from the local Mauzac grape , also known as Blanquette on the nose there are generous aromas of green apple and ripe white peaches which are also found on the palate. The first sip is crisp and vibrant with plenty of acidity and a subtle hint of sweetness from the modest dosage of 10 grams per litre.

Ruby/cherry colour. Toasted oak, red fruits like cherry, slight hint of tobacco/leather, smoked almonds, herbs like laurel, and some butter in the nose. Vanilla, liquorice, oak, a little pepper. Tannins are there but ripe, the structure is full and fine! Great wine Beautiful intense purple red color. The nose features aromas of ripe fruits with tones of vanilla and slight toasted wood. In the mouth, it is smooth with silky tannins. Its balance is elegant, and the finish offers a long set of refined flavours.
