Kumeu River
Fantastic length. Nothing in excess, there's oak, there's spice, there's richness, stone fruit, citrus fruit, all in balance and all building up. Will age. Sumptuous on second look.

Antinori
Pietrabianca is an elegant Chardonnay produced on the Bocca di Lupo estate in the Murgia area of Apulia. The distinctive characteristic of this area is its pietra, stone.Pietrabianca refers to the stones that rural farmers hit while ploughing the fields and once they were crushed and ground into the soil, helped enhance the aromas of the wines grown there. Rich, complex and at the same time fresh and pleasant, Pietrabianca shows that Apulia is a region of great white wines, too.

Ridge Vineyards
When you order wines En Primeur you buy wines that are as yet not available for physical delivery but are available for purchase. They are sold without Excise and VAT taxes and an invoice is issued soon after order, for payment. Excise and VAT may become payable when the wine physically arrives in the UK. When a wine arrives in the UK is a matter of when it becomes available from the producer and when we are able to import it. Normally wines will be shipped 2-3 years after harvest, but it can take longer or less than that. When the wines are shipped to the UK they can either be transferred, under bond, to an account in a Bonded warehouse or delivered Sold En-Primeur. An incredibly limited and rare bottling of Ridge Monte Bello to be delivered in 2025. The core blend of Monte Bello 2022 was assembled by the production team over two days in February. Out of twenty-six candidate lots, fourteen were selected at this stage, with a few earmarked as potential additions at the next blending session. The team reconvened on May 3rd for the second and final assemblage of 2022 Monte Bello. The panel of eight determined that, of the three further lots being presented, just one had the qualities consistent with Monte Bello. The addition of this lot will result in a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The typically intense dark purple colour of a young Monte Bello belies the vivid aromatics: the nose opens with a wonderful floral aroma over the precise berry fruit. There is copious structure, but it is very fine-grained even at this early stage. Splendid balance and harmony already, with an ultra-long finish indicating the great potential of this wine.

Kumeu River
Leaner, more austere on the nose. Very lively on the palate, almost sweet caramelised edge, high acid, good brightness. Very ripe, round, and unctuous. Vanillin finish. Tarte tatin. A bit much at the moment. Puppy fat. Lovely length though. Still plenty of opportunity.

Ornellaia
The desire to nurture the Estate’s exceptional qualities has shaped Ornellaia’s philosophy since the beginning. Ornellaia is a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot and the faithful expression of unique terroir developed in harmony with nature. ““With its usual deep ruby red colour, Ornellaia 2020 stands out on the nose with ripe red fruits and delicate vanilla and gentle tobacco notes. Upon tasting, the wine reveals itself to be rounded and velvety, making an enjoyable and engaging first impression that entices for a second sip. The tannins are dense yet elegant and the finish proves to be savoury and enduring.” Olga Fusari – Winemaker Press “This is a beauty, so generous and opulent with fully seamless transitions. The wine’s traditional blend is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with tiny percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, although this warm vintage makes due with a pinch less of the Cabernet Sauvignon. […] This broad and generous expression has a beautiful quality of fruit and oak that speaks to the very best of Italian winemaking.” 95-97 Points – Wine Advocate, Monica Larner

Moorooduc Estate
Kate McIntyre is the queen of Mornington, consistently turning out the most critically acclaimed wines from this famous area near Melbourne. "A real treat of a wine, with rhubarb, beetroot, strawberry and spice flavours. A showboater, and while the stemmy character is a strong influence, I think it works brilliantly." 17.5 jancisrobinson.com (2014 Vintage)

Pares Balta
Hisenda Miret comes from the old vines planted on the Cal Miret estate. It is an almost extinct Grenache in the Penedès that will captivate you with its attractive elegance and its sweet mouthfeel. "This bold red marries ripe flavours of cherry, red plum and vanilla with tangy, citrusy acidity in a lively, sweet-tart character. Notes of mountain herb, spice and cocoa add interest. Angular yet generous." Wine Spectator Magazine Thomas Matthew

Shaw + Smith
Always a charmer (and award-winner). Has shot to brilliance recently, in an interesting direction: so much 'terroir', smells like posh Chablis with seashell and wet stone, then opens out with Meursault-like punch plus a chalky-saline grip. Faultess.

Allegrini
Long-standing single-vineyard classic from the outstanding Allegrini family. I've always loved this wine. Somewhat like a 'deployable' version of Amarone, but so much more interesting than most Ripasso. Plays a sexy line between juicy silky, lush and chewy tannin and oak. Intriguing notes of blossom and ripe citrus fruits.

Blank Canvas
A heady fragrance of peony and violets, red cherry and pomegranate, overlaid with a smoky, earthy savouriness. The character reflects the perfume and delicacy of the vintage, whilst retaining its innate muscular tannin structure that ensures it will age very well. The palate shows great intensity, complexity and structure.

Weingut Max Ferd.Richter
For our selection of dry/trocken Rieslings from Single Vineyards we source all single vineyard wines from "Premier Cru" and "Grand Cru" vineyards from old vines. Fermentation is exclusively done in traditonal Fuders (old oak-barrels) where wines are maintained on the lees until bottling. These wines perfectly show the terroir of the given vineyard site. The range starts with the classical Kabinetts, the archetypical wine of the Mosel-Region, showing lightness and freshness with an almost airy elegance. They are generally lower in alcohol and have higher acid levels. The next step up are the "Alte Reben" selections (Old Vines, Vieilles Vignes). These are harvested from the oldest vines of our Crus with at least 75 years of age. They are powerful with richer body and well balanced minerality. On the top of the pyramid you find the GGs (Großes Gewächs/Grand Cru/Grand Vin). These Rieslings are grown in the best and oldest parts of our Grand Cru vineyards. These wines are the perfect combination of deepth, concentration, minerality and utmost precison and elegance. The result is simply mesmerizing. The wine does have a slight bite but above all, it is beautifully airy, packed with intense and remarkably fresh flavors (not an easy task in a vintage with record heat in the summer). This is one of those dry Riesling which home in on the fact that Mosel now produces some of the finest dry Riesling in the whole of Germany. As usual, great wines is rarely produced in gigantic quantities and this is no different with this GG. But, believe us, every effort should be made to lay one’s hands on a few bottles of this divine juice

Greywacke
Right from the get-go, this sets itself apart from the rest of the pack with a level of polish, complexity and balance. The nose has ripe peach and mango fruits; gentle savoury, yeasty complexity adds biscuity aromas too. The palate has an immediate sense of concentration and the textural richness builds in smooth layers; there’s pear and nectarine, and a juicy, precise finish. Scents of a summer orchard: juicy nectarines, plump sun-dried apricots and tree-ripened lemons mingled with musky oriental spices. The palate is silky and sumptuous – warm honeyed stone fruit with almonds and shortcake. A lithe, textural wine of intense richness, laced with a citrusy, sherbet-like zest.

La Giuva
The young, dynamic duo of Giulia and Valentina Malesani (hence the name `Giuva`) are situated north of Verona in the Val Squaranto. Planted at about 300m, the vines surprisingly face north and west, giving the wines incredible freshness and crunchy red fruits. This has flamboyant jammy notes on the nose, then great structure on the palate with expressive, juicy berries and ripe cherries. It`s meaty and earthy, with spicy and jammy undertones. 95 points

Pares Balta
Deep purple colour, with ruby notes at the edge. An intense, complex and aromatic nose of red fruit preserve and toasty oak leads into a palate that is initially soft before the ripe tannins and fresh, slaty acidity add structure to the flesh. Rich but not at all heavy, the fruit and mineral flavours continue into the long, fresh finish. Gratavinum was established in 2003 when the owners of Parés Baltà - brothers Joan and Josep Cusiné and their winemaking wives Maria Elena Jiménez and Marta Casas - decided to invest in the wild Priorat landscape. The estate, which takes its name from the contraction of Gratallops (the name of the village where the winery is located) and Vinum (Latin for wine), is run by the Cusiné family and winemaker Jordi Fernandez. Today, Gratavinum possesses 17 organically-farmed hectares of terraced vineyards, which are rich in Llicorella, a slate and quartz soil. Working with old vines of indigenous grapes as well as newcomer varietals, they produce powerful structures wines with the distinctive mineral character of Priorat.

Complex and expressive, the 2021 Boxer exudes vivacity whilst maintaining great length. Black cherries, fresh plum, rich dark chocolate and licorice max out the flavour spectrum. Well measured tannins and slightly toasted oak compliment the rich fruit, creating a wine with many layers. This Boxer is truly a knockpout.

Prunotto
The Nizza area, the best terroir for Barbera, has characteristic loam and sand veined soils that produce a wine capable of exalting the aromas and freshness of the grape variety. Bansella is an intense ruby red colour. Rich and fruity on the nose with notes of dark pulp fruit, floral aromas, and hints of liquorice. The palate is soft and supple, defined by an excellent balance between freshness and acidity, a typical characteristic of the Barbera grape variety.

Au Bon Climat
Strawberries and blackberries aromas slowly rise out of the glass. Overtime, more of the anise and clove will mix with these other aromas. Currently, the wine is young with mouth filling intensity and suppleness. Complexity will increase as the wine ages, but this wine should stay “fresh” for 6 or 7 years. In its youth, match this wine with lamb or dried meats. After a few years, as the flavors coalesce, it will pair better with salmon or mild red sauce with pasta.

Danbury Ridge
Displaying an array of ripe red fruit aromas with highlights of cherries, hints of smokiness and spice add complexity to the nose. The palate has a juicy acidity and fine tannins lending to a refreshingly long finish. Super-premium estate sited in the warmest, driest corner of England, near the coast and Malden (of posh salt fame). This south-facing ridge enjoys an exceptionally long warm growing season - so rare in England. Our old friend John Atkinson, Master of Wine, who is an expert on cool-climate viticulture, is enthusiastically involved. Winemaker is Liam Idzikowski who boasts long experience in English wine-making; backed by owners the Bunker family, the winery is an astonishing no-expense-spared jewel in the crown for English wine. The Pinot is deep and svelte in the Pommard/Volnay tradition, rich of fruit and cool of spice - clove, anise etc. Young but self-evidently grand, and deeply impressive.

Domaine Danjou-Banessy
Natural, biodynamic and vegan. Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre from 80 year old vines, Made without filtering or fining. Pale but gorgeous mid red colour. At first on the nose, you are like "What even is that?". Whatever it is, you know that you like it. Elegant, subtle fruit is intermixed with gentle herb, earth and savoury characters. Deep and wonderful. On the palate the wine is elegant and deep again, but not heavy in the slightest. Ruffled fruit and savoury notes with minerality and real finesse. These wines are like no other from the Roussillon. Outstanding.
