Critic Review
17/20 jancisrobinson.com "The colour is insanely dark and purple for such an old wine! It smells not unlike Madeira with a tang of game bird well-hung and definitely a kick of VA. Rich and rippling with muscle. It’s a curious cosplay of old wine with very, very youthful features. Some of the fruit tastes of prunes and raisins steeped in coffee, but there are flashes and pops of fresh raspberry and pomegranate. And dried rose petals. And, as Falmet suggests, more than a hint of cigar, especially on the finish. The tannins have the dustiness of an old library long unused, but the playful grip of a wine in the tank. It’s fascinating. Earthy ending. I would go with the game bird thing or maybe beetroot and puy lentils if I was putting this elegant, interesting wine on the table. (TC)"
