Critic Review
16/20 jancisrobinson.com "A co-fermented ‘blouge’ (blend of blanc + rouge grapes) Bourboulenc (white), Grenache Gris (pink) and Cinsault (red). Made by Vincent Chansault who is the head winemaker of Domaine Gayda. This is from his personal project in Minervois-La Liviniere. The grapes come from a single, 70-year-old co-planted vineyard in La Liviniere, Minervois. Spontaneous, whole-bunch fermentation. 2,000 bottles produced. Like biting into a sour cherry that explodes into liquorice allsorts and leaves a comet trail of violets in its wake. It’s buzzing like a bee with busy energy. So lively! Less fruity than many ‘blouge’ wines – the flavour lines are much more salt liquorice, sumac and paprika with a twirl of rose hip in a cameo role. Drink with vinyl on the record player and baba ganoush on crunchy home-crisped pita chips. (TC)"
