This Roboul cuvée exudes lifted fruit aromas in abundance with blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates and also gentle garrigue notes. On the palate it is velvety with curious, beautiful interest. There is a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity and it ends with a striking freshness. It's a marvelous wee wine. Full bottle 1,341 g. Single vineyard. 60% Mourvèdre (20 years old), 40% Grenache (30 years old) on pudding stone, clay, sand and limestone tuffeau. Hand-picked; whole-bunch, spontaneous fermentation; minimal cap work; very gently pressed. Fermented separately because the Mourvèdre ripens so much later than the Grenache. 12 months in old oak barrels of 600, 500 and 400 litres. "If I’d not known what this wine was, and put it to my nose, my first guess would be Pinot Noir, Tasmania. Rosehips. Nectarine skin. Hibiscus tea. Morels. Then, after tasting it, I’d change my mind. I’d wonder if this was Cinsault, one of Alex Milner’s wraith-like beauties, perhaps: the bruised rose petals, the jasmine tea, the taste of prickly pears and dust and pungent-peppery-green at the back of my throat. Then I smell garrigue - cistus, broom heather, wild thyme, the smell of the wind blowing through holm oaks and twisted pines and I am in the south of France. This is the fey child of Roussillon. Crystallum
The signature aromatics of wild strawberry, black cherry and sweet Indian spices are all in place as well as pomegranate, red plum and cocoa. A tense and structured palate speaks to the 60% whole bunches used in fermentation, with the tannins showing a pine-like freshness. With a generosity of fruit and a particularly upright focus this wine will age into 2035.

Domaine La Loyane
Laure Dubois runs this excellent estate with her husband Romain and has fully converted to Organic farming. The wines they produce are consistently good and elegant, mainly from the Lirac appellation, north West of Chateauneuf-du-Pape but also this Cotes du Rhone from just outside. The 2022 is the third year in five vintages that the wine has won a coveted Coup de Coeur top award in the Guide Hachette, the 'bible' of French wine. Charming, 'irresistible' and ready to drink it also offers outstanding value for money. Domaine La Lôyane was voted Winemaker of the Year in 2018 by the Guide Hachette. La Lôyane refers to the place where the estate is built, a place formerly occupied by wolves! The estate, founded in 1994, is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, near Avignon in the Lirac cru. The Dubois family has been cultivating its 20 hectares of vines there for 4 generations! And the last, with Romain Dubois, has converted the estate to organic farming. An extremely precise estate, which is constantly moving upmarket and producing wines from vines that are sometimes more than a century old!

Roger Sabon
One of our best-selling Rhone wines, the new 2023 reflects the joy of this vintage. Big and grunty, naughtily purple, with that classy Lirac sweet-fruited lift. Hard to beat with grilled lamb and rosemary. A must-try. Sabon is a Chateauneuf super-star and this their only Cru wine beyond Chateauneuf itself. Robert M. Parker, Jr (the world?s most influential wine reviewer), who awarded their 1988 vintage a perfect 100 rating, the first Chateauneuf-du-Pape so honoured, has this to say about Domaine Roger Sabon: "This estate has been at the top of its game for many years and any partisan of Rhone Valley wines (especially the southern Rhone) who has not yet tried a wine from Domaine Roger Sabon should make every effort to do so."

Named in honour of the ancient vilafonté soils that make up the estate at 1.5m years old, one of the oldest documented soil types in the world where the vines for this wine have been growing for almost two decades. A Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Just 330 barrels produced of this stunning wine. Layers of fresh plum, black cherry, baking spice and vanilla pod. Lovely mineral notes with a lingering finish. A line of acidity giving real tension to the whole wine.

Bodega Tapiz
Intense aroma of ripe red fruit and jam. The vanilla and toasted are present in equilibrium with the fruit. On the palate the tannins are soft. Balanced and long finish. Tapiz is one of Argentina’s most technologically advanced wineries, and boasts some of Mendoza’s finest and highest estate vineyards. CWM First Class. 47% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, 3.8pH, yield of 26hl/ha. Ageing in 30% amphora, 70% French oak (30% new), 13.5% ABV. Lovely sweet fruit, flowers and chocolate ont he nose, very appealing. Glossy dark ruby. Fruity but not jammy, mouthwatering, stylish and very moreish. There’s a lot to like here.

92 Points James Suckling, 92 Points Robert Parker Maquis Lien is a hand-crafted blend, resulting in a distinctive wine that reflects the special plot of land the Hurtado family owns in the Colchauga Valley in Chile. The vineyards and winery are located at the confluence of two historic rivers, which brought down sediments from the Andes that established the vineyard's alluvial soils. The same river canyons channel cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, contributing to the wine's rich fruit character. The nose is very harmonious and the varieties feel very integrated; the Carménère does not dominate the aromas and is nicely blended with the others. There is an extra spark of freshness here along with more restraint and seriousness. A red blend of finesse.

This wine is available to order En Primeur. When you order wines En Primeur you buy wines that are as yet not available for physical delivery but are available for purchase. They are sold without Excise and VAT taxes and an invoice is issued soon after order, for payment. Excise and VAT may become payable when the wine physically arrives in the UK. When a wine arrives in the UK is a matter of when it becomes available from the producer and when we are able to import it. Normally wines will be shipped 2-3 years after harvest, but it can take longer or less than that. When the wines are shipped to the UK they can either be transferred, under bond, to an account in a Bonded warehouse or delivered duty paid. For Under Bond deliveries. Please indicate by return if you wish the wine to remain under bond and before the wine arrives provide details of the bonded warehouse address and the account you would like it held under. A charge for the under bond transfer will be made at the time of delivery, and varies from Bond to Bond. For Duty Paid Deliveries. All prices exclude HM Excise, Customs and VAT. Allegrini
The hill of La Grola is located in the municipality of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella. It boasts unique geo-climatic and pedo-climatic conditions and enjoys an exceptional microclimate. Facing south-east, and therefore benefitting from excellent exposure, it is protected to the north by Monte Pastello, and enjoys the mitigating influence of nearby Lake Garda and the constant breezes coming from Monte Baldo and the Adige Valley. The altitude varies from 270 to 320 m a.s.l. The soil is clayey-calcareous in composition, with very little soil and a lot of gravelly matter. Rich in potassium and calcium, low in magnesium and iron, it is a poor, unfertile soil that keeps the vine in a mild state of stress, a useful factor for the quantitative containment of yields. A deep ruby red wine with great character and personality. The scent is broad and enveloping, with hints of blackcurrant, spicy notes of juniper and black pepper, combined with hints of tobacco and coffee. It is fresh and intense on the palate, with superb aromatic persistence.

Chateau de Marsannay
A top class Bourgogne from vines on the slopes north of Marsannay near Dijon. The soils here are gravelly, rather like those of Beaune Greves. 30% whole bunch fermentation, the whole estate is farmed organically. At 14.5% the long hot summer is evident - deep colour, plenty of stuffing and grip, just beginning to open nicely, after a few hours bags of deep fruit come through, like a young Gevrey in style. A cracking example of vibrant Cote De Nuits. Since 2012 Château de Marsannay has been owned by the Halley family, at the same time they bought the Château de Meursault. They own 34 hectares of superbly situated vines, and as with Château de Meursault, have invested heavily in realising the estate’s huge potential. The Domaine is managed by Château de Meursault’s Stephane Follin-Arbelet, who is overseeing a quality revolution, but Château de Marsannay have their own winemaking team, lead by the fantastic, and award-winning, Sylvain Pabion. Winemaking is classic and adaptive, largely de-stalked but with whole bunches when necessary, a cold-soaked prior to fermentation and then ageing in a mixture of new and used oak barriques for over a year. Alongside Château de Meursault, this is on course to become one of the largest organic certified estates in the Côte d'Or.

Domaine La Bouissiere
An almost one man band Gigondas producer with small but deeply enviable vineyard holdings up in the hills, planted 60 years ago by his grandfather. The key to this wine's brilliance is that the vineyard, although in Beaumes de Venise appellation, is right on the border of Gigondas, high up on the Dentelles slopes - the very best vineyard sites of Gigondas itself. Stretch the border a few hundred metres and include this wine in Gigondas and you could add 50% to the price! As you would expect, it is hearty and herbal, dense in fruit, bold and juicy with a whiff of roast lamb. A belter!

18.5/20 Jancis Robinson "Rich, deep, glowing purplish crimson. Pungent and really interesting and layered on the nose already. Creamy texture and massive energy. Lots of tannin but all beautifully balanced. This is seriously intriguing rather than just ticking boxes. Glows on the end. Old-vine influence – really gives layers and intrigue. Sweetness of tannin. But the freshness really lifts it."

Vina Marquis
A lovely wine from an artisan family winery producing wines in a natural style. The winery was built on a gravity feed system and uses pneumatic presses to extract only the best juice. They practice sustainable farming and winemaking. Very deep opaque ruby, red fruit on the nose and big legs sticking to the side of the glass. Soft and silky on the palate with red and black fruit flavours, and good palate cleansing acidity on the long finish.
