Critic Review
17/20 jancisrobinson.com "100% Viognier from very rocky vineyards in the foothills of the Cevennes on the shiste slopes of Faugères at 300–400 m. Simon Coulshaw makes low-intervention, so the bright gold colour is probably the result of oxidative winemaking. The nose is a little whiffy at first, but that clears with air (you might want to double decant if it bothers you). The wine itself is simply a paean to apricots. A stand-on-the-mountain, serenade-in-the-light-of-a-rising-sun, you-have-no-option-but-to-listen glorious celebration of Viognier’s peach and apricot fruit. Tucked in there, the percussion, apricot kernel, delicately bitter, bittersweet, almost nutty, almost toasty. This would be so damn good with a golden, glistening roast chicken. GV (TC)"
