El Porvenir
The Torrontes grapes from which this wine is made are grown 1,800 metres above sea level estate vineyards in Cafayete, Salta – a place the Incas once ruled. The name, Munay is the Quechuan word for love. A juicy wine with floral and stone fruit aromas, fresh and well balanced with acidity and minerality. El Porvenir specialise in Torrontes, Malbec, Tannat and red blends from 45-50 year old vineyards which are amongst the highest in the world at 1900m asl and peopled with 20-foot, 200 year old monster cacti. Colour in the reds here is profound due to the exposure to prolonged mountain sunlight, with soft tannins due in part to the extreme diurnal temperature differences. Winemaker Mariano Quiroga Adamo is one of Argentina’s brightest young winemakers and El Porvenir benefits from the sage involvement of renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs, who has been involved here for many years. The company is run by the energetic Lucia Romero-Marcuzzi and the packaging and labels reflect the Inca Cross which is a common symbol in this part of the Andes.

Domaine Billard Pere et Fils
Jérôme and Elisabeth Billard are the 4th generation of his family to have managed Domaine Billard Pere & Fils. Their winery is located in La Rochepot, a village just west of Saint-Aubin. Jérôme has built up the estate's vineyard holdings to an impressive 18.5 hectares, with the largest area in Hautes Cotes de Beaune, as well as Beaune, St Romain, St Aubin, Auxey Duresses and Pommard. Jérôme’s philosophy is "expressing the typicity of the terroir.". Yields are low and grapes are concentrated because of organic farming techniques, extensive pruning and cover crops between vines. His trusty Percheron steed, Raphael, ploughs the vineyards at the estate and for Domaine de la Romanee Conti. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted on a vibrating table to ensure only the best are selected. Winemaking is low intervention. Pinot Noir is foot trodden to gently extract tannins, only natural yeasts are used and wines are left on lees in oak barrels before bottling at the estate. As a consequence of these meticulous efforts, Billard offers high quality wines with layers of complexity and concentration at surprisingly low prices. The Hautes Cotes de Beaune White comes from a single 3 hectare vineyard called La Justice which is found next to Saint Aubin on a sunny, chalky hillside with good drainage. Perfumed and floral with nice peach notes. Citrus, peach, and oaky and vanilla flavours with some white pepper. Nice acidity and length.

Danbury Ridge
Barrel-fermented, with reserve wines from their perpetual solera. Strikingly intense for an English sparkling wine, deep gold, deep flavour, brave and shameless oxidative character puts it up there with the best. A grand dinner wine, indeed a de facto fine wine. This is clearly as they say "next level" locating Danbury firmly as the brightest star in the firmament of English wine. Only 3000 bottles produced. Jancis Robinson OBE MW 17/20 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. Sparkling wine based on 2018, their first. (The next cuvée is slightly less Chardonnay.) ‘We’re not ashamed of ripeness’, they say. It will be more than 12.5% alcohol and will probably be labelled as 13%. Only 4.5 bar pressure. Release planned for September 2024. No malo and no SO2 added. 3,000 bottles. "Deep golden straw colour. Really quite a rich, ripe nose of stewed apricots that's slightly at odds with the high acidity on the palate but it certainly makes a statement! Markedly gentle bead. Bone-dry finish. Dosage (5 g/l in the sample I tasted in September 2022) is well judged. No hint of excess sweetness. Well done!"

Mullineux
Apple, melon, a drizzle of honey and something floral too. Gorgeously caramelised palate, giving an impression of sweetness. The fruit is really charming, ripe and tropical without any confection. Savoury finish with a long, lightly smoky aftertaste. South Africa at its best.

Famille Lieubeau
"Buttered-popcorn nose, and more leesy, less voluptuousness of fruit... if I didn't know better, I'd have thought there was oak-barrel bâtonnage in here - it is so smoky, firm and Pouilly-Fuissé-like. Powerful and spicy (curry spices!) with a gentle yellow-lentil earth line defining the finish. The texture feels ever so slightly more 'tannic' and cross-grained than the 2021". 17/20 jancisrobinson.com

Cà dei Frati
Way, way out of its class - no other Laguna matches this for complexity. Chablis-like in its bracing stony frame but layered with waves of white peach, ripe lime, tarragon, hints of chilli or ginger. A slightly eccentric but 100% gorgeous wine that really commands attention.

Vondeling Wines
The wine has a bright hue with a golden straw colour. It displays a refreshing nose of bright pear and peach blossoms with subtle lemon meringue and notes of freshly rolled oats. A full-bodied wine with great palate tension. Crisp apple and chalky citrus are infused with mild layers of Crème Brulé, spun sugar and floral potpourri. The flavours are vibrant, and the finish refined Vineyard This tiny, tree-lined vineyard is tucked away in the upper valley of the Vondeling farm, protected from harsh sunlight and extreme temperatures, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. These moderate temperatures help preserve the grape’s natural acidity and fresh citrus aromas. The yields are kept low to eliminate stress in the vine and ensure good, uniform ripeness. The soil is made up entirely of well-weathered granite. Vinification All grapes are picked at optimum ripeness in the early hours of the morning. They are then packed into a cold room to be chilled further for processing the following day. The grapes are whole bunch pressed, which reduces the absorption of coarse phenolics and helps retain more of the grape’s natural vibrancy. The juice is not settled, but sent directly to 400-litre French oak barrels where spontaneous wild yeast fermentation takes place. No sulphur is added and the wine typically undergoes partial malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured on its yeast lees for 7 months after which it is blended to tank, then returned to barrel for a further 4 months. The wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended to tank for a further 3 months for improved stabilisation before bottling

La Taille aux Loups
Triple Zero is the cuvee that used to be Jacky's standard Petillant Naturel. The title refers to the fact this sparkling cuvee is not chaptalised, dosed, and contains no residual sugar. Essentially it is as pure as fizzy Chenin gets, taut, finely-tuned, intense floral flavours of citrus, minerals, white peach and apple blossom, overlaying a creamy, supple texture. Justerini & Brooks.
