Properly serious food wine, a Michelin-star classic! Parker 92 Aromas of almond paste, green orchard fruit, citrus oil and pastry cream introduce the latest example of Billecart's NV Brut Sous Bois, a bottling that's based on the 2009 vintage. The oak influence is much less pronounced than was the case with some of the early renditions of this cuvée, and it's really going from strength to strength, revealing a medium to full-bodied palate that's broad-shoulder and structured, with lively underpinning acids. Jancis 17/20 This new cuvee is all vinified in oak but hasn't a hint of obvious oak on the nose. Lovely quality of fizz. Brooding and intense. There is marked density here and excellent balance and persistence. As usual, we are not told on the back label how old this blend may be, just that it is 'respectfully composed' of the three Champagne varieties. But it's impressive wine and I suspect it will not be cheap. Recommended. Edge of green on the nose here. Steady bead. Really quite rich and intense. Quite a meaty nose – but then food smells are coming in from the 67 Pall Mall kitchen! Mathieu Billecart suggests Tete des Moines or Comté as a food match or mushroom risotto ‘but the mushrooms have to be in season’. Lots of impact.

A blend of Genache Blanc, Gris and Noir, from ancient 90 year old vines, this is beautiful, racy, elegant wine that is softly textured and very ‘modern’ in its freshness and balance.

Parker's Wine Advocate 99/100 "A candidate for wine-of-the-vintage honors in Champagne, Roederer's 2013 Cristal Rosé is showing brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with notes of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, red berries, stone fruit, freshly baked bread and tangerine oil. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, the vintage's bright girdling acids are amply cloaked in exuberant, expressive and notably concentrated fruit; so while this Cristal is as tensile and age-worthy as one would expect, it's also impressively fleshy and generous given the year. Concluding with an intensely sapid finish, the 2013 isn't as overtly structured as the muscular, tightly wound 2012: rather, it's the 2013's alliance of cut and flesh, precision and charm that's so compelling this year. This is another banner vintage for what I consider the reigning champion of the region's tête de cuvée bottlings, and it will be worth an effort to acquire."

Le Clos Saint-Hilaire is an exceptional champagne which is named after the patron saint of the village Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the home of Champagne Billecart-Salmon. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir and vinified in oak casks, it develops an outstanding purity. A full-bodied and intense texture evoking citrus fruit flesh and pears in syrup (iodine notes, mandarin pulp), as well as subtle hints of panettone, bursting with rich flavours (puffed buckwheat and liquorice wood). The wine is characterised by a mesemerizing yet expressive chram with a generosity that carries the finish towards a delicious chalky minerality. A unique tasting experience for a rare and sought-after vintage from a small-scale production of 5100 bottles. Parker 94 "Huet's bright golden colored 2016 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie is clear, fresh and intensely fruity on the remarkably precise nose. Medium-bodied yet concentrated, elegant and sweet on the palate, this is a salty, piquant, mineral Chenin Blanc with intense, elegant and well-structured fruit. The wine reveals a chalky finesse and long tensioned finish. Bottled with 84 grams of residual sugar, this is still a pretty sweet but doubtlessly promising Vouvray. Tasted February 2018." "Huet's winemaker Jean-Bernard Barthomé classifies the complicated 2016 vintage as "exceptional" in so far as the frost from April 27th reduced 50% of the potential yields. 2016 was also exceptional due to the endless rainfalls in spring that were followed by an exceptional period of drought between July and November. The harvest? "Exceptional!" It started October 6th and went on for three beautiful weeks under a blue, luminous sky. "Beautiful conditions prior to and during the harvest allowed us to make multiple passes through the vineyards," he said, which led to the production of the entire range of table wines from Sec to Première Trie and even the rarely produced "Cuvée Constance" (I haven't tasted the latter yet, though). Bottled in April 2017, all the wines are very delicate, elegant, pure and superbly balanced expressions of their specific terroirs. The Clos du Bourg Moelleux is the first since 2009, and it is fabulous. However, my personal wine of the vintage is the 2016 Le Mont Moelleux Première Trie, which is a very complex and truly exciting Chenin Blanc from flint and green clay soils! Its light, fresh, pure and concentrated style reflects the vintage perfectly, with firm yet vibrant structure, a salty taste, crystalline acidity and a long, complex finish that reflects the great terroir of Le Mont"

A result of the assembly of the fresh harvested grape must mixed with young cognac. The blend is then placed in large stainless-steel vats to be carefully aged. It’s then cold filtered and packaged entirely by hand. Known for their premium quality and exquisite taste profile.

Clos Saint-Denis is a Grand Cru vineyard within the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. This small Grand Cru of 6.6ha in fact gave its name to the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in which it is located. The name is a reference to the martyred Saint-Denis de Vergy who founded the monastic order which first planted this vineyard between the 11th and 13th centuries. The rocky clay-limestone soil and sun-catching easterly exposure of Clos Saint-Denis produces Pinot Noirs which are relatively light in structure (the are not quite so firmly structured as its Grand Cru twin, Clos de la Roche, for example), but with finely nuanced aromatics and seductive Pinot fruit. The main landowners in Clos Saint-Denis are Domaine Dujac and Domaine Georges Lignier.

Intense, fruity and aromatic. . A subtle floral nose marrying rosehip, spice and freshly picked berries. The palate is silky and delicately fleshy.

There is a slight hint of reduction that should disappear at bottling, and the texture is pleasantly round and silky soft. The grapes come from a blend of lieux-dits that include Les Charrieres, Les Millandes, Les Ruchots, and Clos Sorbè; the total surface area is 0.82 hectares, all picked 27 - 28 September. This Premier Cru wine originates from `Les Beaux Monts`, a lieu-dit where Dujac owns a 0.72-hectare parcel. The 2021 vintage displays delightful notes of red berries, plums, vine smoke, exotic spices, and bergamot. Medium to full-bodied, it offers a supple and sensual experience, featuring a fleshy core of perfumed fruit harmoniously framed by melting tannins.

A legendary vintage champagne with wonderful finesse and precision Champagne Salon is the creation of a man who loved champagne: Aimé Salon. Fascinated by the Mesnil terroir, this daring man created the champagne of his dreams, a Blanc de Blancs that is quite simply exceptional. "The champagne of one man, Aimé Salon, of one terroir, the Côte des Blancs, of one cru, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, of one grape variety, Chardonnay, of one year, that of a great vintage." In the words of the House, we understand that the story of this champagne has all the makings of an adventure novel. And with good reason: Champagne Salon came to life in 1905, but it wasn't until 1920 that this audacious character revealed his sublime and mysterious creation to the rest of the world. Today, Maison Salon has joined the Laurent-Perrier group and now shares its ambitions and resources with Maison Delamotte, both managed by Didier Depond. Only produced in the best years, this Blanc de Blancs Champagne is as confidential as it is exceptional. Demanding and precise, the wines are kept in the cellar for an average of ten years before revealing all their grandeur. Despite a cold winter and spring, the vines did not suffer any frosts in 2013. The budburst took place at the end of April under abundant rainfall, which lasted until full flowering at the beginning of July. Despite a hot summer, sporadic thunderstorms and slow ripening of the grapes in October, hail damage was minimal. Despite the bad weather, the 2013 harvest was excellent, at 13,000 kg/ha, with the Chardonnays standing out for their balance and acidity. This champagne comes from the one-hectare plot known as "Le Jardin Salon," and nineteen other small plots in Mesnil-sur-Oger, carefully selected by Aimé Salon at the beginning of the 20th century.

An absolute classic. Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is a family owned and operated estate and is one of the preeminent producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Though one of the largest landowners in the region, they only produce three red and two white wines.

Since the addition of the excellent Brochon vineyards in 2020, what was already a very good wine is now an excellent one, perhaps with a little more grip and structure than in the past, without losing that classic Leroux purity and accessibility. The nose is pure Gevrey; chalky red berry fruits, a floral touch and a twist of spice. The palate is juicy with waves of succulent red berry fruit and a refreshing limestone finish. Drink 2024-2032.

A lighter purple, this vineyard is never powerful. An elegant lifted strawberry note, medium bodied, graceful.

A delicate, fresh and fruity champagne. Apples, pears and apricots are followed with characteristic hazelnut, brioche and spice notes as the palate develops. Surprisingly weighty. A superb match with all types of shellfish.

Old vines from the Grand Montmirail, high altitude vineyards (400 to 520 meters). The foot of the vineyards consist of a red marl that brings the muscle and virility. In middle and higher slopes limestone bedrock is increasingly present, this transmits the wines tension and raciness. Direct, pure wines. 100% Grenache in 2023. 70% grapes destemmed, crushed and a short infusion follows. Wildly fermented and only matured in concrete tank to expose the complexity and natural tension of the wine. This is a full, broad wine, but elegant and still vibrating. The originality and beauty of the site is transmitted with energy. This Gigondas shows you this character, this minerality - water of rock, wine of rock.

Deep purple, almost opaque in colour with an expressive nose of black fruits, pepper, cinnamon, spice and violets. A seductive palate of dark hedgerow fruits, very open and welcoming with an explosion of fruit and spice. Mineral undertones.

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is a pale, crystalline gold colour. The nose is characterised by aromas of mature Chardonnay; white peach, candied citrus with notes of lime, honeysuckle and fresh hazelnuts giving way to subtle hints of tangerine and lemon. On the palate, the Blanc de Blancs bears all the hallmarks of a Charles Heidsieck Champagne: boldness, generosity and elegance. Embracing yet light, it displays appealing mineral, slightly salty, iodine notes, and has a silky, creamy texture – unexpected from a Chardonnay – that leaves a lasting impression.

This Loire Valley sweet wine has a lovely golden colour with rich aromas of peach and pear giving a "chewing the fruit" sensation. A very complex, persistent and well balanced wine.

This wine comes from an estate and is made by a family rooted since several generations on the hillsides of the Garonne river. The family managed to keep the passion for the vineyard and the sweet wines until today by respecting tradition and innovation with one goal: producing very good wines.

The combination of red fruits and florality give this wine immediate presence. The 'Champ Ladoy' uses two tiny parcels in Mercurey with 12 months in oak, 30% new. There's a smoky character that develops in the glass but it's still quite youthful, mineral, with a light, elegant mouthfeel.

"I knew our terroirs very well, and knew that we could exploit them to the full. With Romain’s experience of vinifications all around the world, I was happy to launch the domaine". Gérald Delhome "This is an interesting newcomer to the ranks in the northern sector of Crozes-Hermitage, with vineyards in the communes of Crozes itself, Larnage, Gervans and Erôme. There are almost 11.5 hectares of Crozes across 20 plots, Romain is the fifth generation; his great-grandfather Flavien Delhome had vineyards, while, on his mother’s side there were vineyards under her family in the shape of Severin Habrard, so there are two old roots at play here. Father Gérald took over the domaine in 1993, and concentrated on apricots and vines, the grape harvest sent to the Cave de Tain. Son Romain came on to the domaine in 2018; he had worked locally at Gigondas and in the Ventoux at Chêne Bleu, as well as in Virginia in the USA. The cellar was built in 2019. The domaine is HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) registered, a green credential, and the 2022 harvest will be officially organic. A 100% Viognier from a south-facing granite hillside sheltered from the north wind, in the commune of Larnage to the north of the Crozes-Hermitage AOC. Grown organically, picked by hand, grapes directedly pressed in whole bunches. A slow and low temperature fermentation takes place at 14c. Afterwards, the wine is left to age on fine lees in stainless steel for 6 months. Malolactic fermentation is blocked. In the glass the wine shows a pale yellow colour with sparkly, pearly highlights. On the nose, we find fresh and bright stone fruit, citrus hints and fresh white flowers. The palate is fleshy, round, with a nice acidity, making for a delicious and true Viognier. A fresh style, but a serious one. A lovely wine.

Winemaker Vincent Chansault is particularly happy with this release of Gayda's top, single vineyard Syrah from a beautiful site high up in La Liviniere. Extrememly limited. One for Cote-Rotie lovers. The 'Dream House' in question was built by the owner in the vineyards for his ailing wife to spend her last days. She miraculously recovered and her story inspired Vincent to make his dream wine from Syrah in La Liviniere.
