This Roboul cuvée exudes lifted fruit aromas in abundance with blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates and also gentle garrigue notes. On the palate it is velvety with curious, beautiful interest. There is a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity and it ends with a striking freshness. It's a marvelous wee wine. Full bottle 1,341 g. Single vineyard. 60% Mourvèdre (20 years old), 40% Grenache (30 years old) on pudding stone, clay, sand and limestone tuffeau. Hand-picked; whole-bunch, spontaneous fermentation; minimal cap work; very gently pressed. Fermented separately because the Mourvèdre ripens so much later than the Grenache. 12 months in old oak barrels of 600, 500 and 400 litres. "If I’d not known what this wine was, and put it to my nose, my first guess would be Pinot Noir, Tasmania. Rosehips. Nectarine skin. Hibiscus tea. Morels. Then, after tasting it, I’d change my mind. I’d wonder if this was Cinsault, one of Alex Milner’s wraith-like beauties, perhaps: the bruised rose petals, the jasmine tea, the taste of prickly pears and dust and pungent-peppery-green at the back of my throat. Then I smell garrigue - cistus, broom heather, wild thyme, the smell of the wind blowing through holm oaks and twisted pines and I am in the south of France. This is the fey child of Roussillon. This is a wine that dances in the thin places". Very Good Value. Tamlyn Currin on jancisrobinson.com 18/20 jancisrobinson.com

2016 vintage, super-dry at only 0.75g dosage. Radical classic! Founded in 1798 and still family-owned. Jancis Robinson MW OBE 16.5++ "Theres a real green vegetal energy about the nose of this. And I dont mean its unripe! Very distinctive indeed with a briskness and pace that is rare in champagne. Though its not a comfortable pair of slippers to slip on but a dry wine that demands attention."

Domaine Gayda
"Gritty, granular, savoury. The sunflower seeds and meadow hay on the nose fold into pear puree and gem squash and roasted marrow on the palate – gentle, comforting, subtle with the warm, rounded, wholesome embrace of roasted white and green squash, a sprinkle of spice, a drizzle of olive oil. But there is also a pickled-jalapeño bite that builds into a salty tang-tempered clamp on the finish." (TC) 17/20 Jancis Robinson, May 2021, Grenache Gris 2018 "Bright straw yellow colour with silvery nuances, the nose offers a beautiful aromatic intensity around elegant fruity notes, white fruits, citrus peel, fresh floral touches and a slightly smoky mineral hint. The mouth is pleasant and pure, marked by a superb tension which brings freshness, saline touches and ample flavours brought by a magnificent aging on lees which prolong the persistence with harmony and elegance. Altogether a beautifully well-balanced wine leaving you with a compelling sensation of freshness." Dominique Laporte, Meilleur Sommelier de France, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Sommelier. Field selection and picking in small crates – Whole bunch pressing – Light racking – Natural vinification without sulphites in concrete egg tank and 500L barrels. Soil Type: Calcareous clay / Commune: Opoul-Périllos, Roussillon Ageing on full lees for 9 months – Racking off lees for clarification in tank – Bottled at the Domaine.

"Intense with a luminous ruby colour and garnet nuances, the nose reveals elegant notes of ripe black fruits and fresh red fruits, notes of black cherries and raspberry. Complex spicy notes and fine mineral smoky touches, a light and elegant infusion at low temperature. The palate is soft and light, the fruity and gourmet flavours dominate. Mineral and smoky touches bring freshness and highlight beautiful tender and perfectly integrated tannins. The result is balanced with a persistent long finish. " Dominique Laporte, Meilleur Sommelier de France, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Sommelier De-stemmed harvest - Natural vinification without the addition of sulphur - Very light extraction - Infusion, at low temperature - 15 days maceration before pressing - Only the free-run juice is kept. Domaine Gayda
A tiny production cuvee from the team at Gayda, Only 263 bottles filled from a tiny argilo-calcaire vineyard ''Los Blancassas' located in Opoul-Perillos in the Roussillon, planted to Carignan Blanc in 1903. Even fruit from the oldest Carignan Blanc vines can come out a little skinny when vinfired white and used as a single varietal wine. This is a great effort, using the grape skins in fermentation and maceration. The fruit sees 10 days whole-bunch skin contact (foot crushed to release some juice), 100% natural wild ferment with no additions. The temperature is kept low (around 12/14c to avoid too much extraction). One small pigeage each day. It is then pressed and then bred for one year in a single used 228 litre barrel. 25ppm total sulfur added at gravity bottling. Limited to 12 bottles for the UK. Grab one now!

Fruit! Glorious fruit! Oh my, what a delicious wine made up of Alicante Bouschet 70% and Grenache Noir 30%. The very friendliest Alicante we have ever tasted. Dreamy, sweet blueberry and fresh blackberry fruit that is pleasingly aromatic, juicy, seamless that sits just right on the palate. Perfect for when you want the pleasures of gorgeous fruit with nice depth and presence but with a delightful lightness of touch because of the moderate alcohol (only 12% abv) and pleasingly light, soft tannin. Utterly great on its own or with lighter meat dishes. Wonderful and unique. "Rhonejolais", if you will.

l'Autantique
100% Sauvignon grown on selceted plots of argilo-calcaire soils that's harvested at night to preserve all the elegance of the grape. De-stemming, cold maceration on the skins, static draining, pneumatic pressing, settling of the must in cold conditions and fermentation with temperature control (18°C) and a few months further aging in steel tanks. Brilliant yellow colour with green tints. A wine with powerful aromas of exotic fruit on the nose, but comes on a little more citrus on the palate (lemon and grapefruit). A very good effort. Serve chilled (8°-10°C) as an aperitif, with a salad or seafood.

A pure fruited, natural wine without additional sulphites. Shimmering fruit backed up by gorgeous savouriness and delightful floral notes - this is a real star for those who like a little restraint and class in their glass (only 13% abv). This is an utterly delicious take on Ctes du Rhne with Syrah leading the way backed up by Carignan and then Grenache. Beautiful balance and real elegance. Vigneron Frederic Julien has some talent!

Terres Falmet
Another outstanding Mourvedre-led Languedoc Rose. Yves Falmet has spent time selecting the best plots on his single slope of vines in Creyssian Saint-Chinian for the production of a fresh (12% abv) Rose. Pale pink colour, with classic, deep and full Mourvedre aromatics leading to a medium bodied, fresh palate that is citrus led with tangy tamarind, stony deliciousness and good minerality. This is an utterly outstanding bargain. A very serious, utterly drinkable Rose.

Domaine des Schistes
Grown on rocky schist soils in the commune of Estagel. West to north-west exposure. The vineyard is called 'Poux Baly'. A beautiful, bright blend of Vermentino 38%, Grenache Gris 34% and Maccabeu 28% that is utterly delicious and versatile. Medium weight with a fine, fresh length. Harvested at night into small crates and made very naturally and fermented in steel vats, with only one small addition of sulphites before bottling. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to keep the bright freshness.

Domaines des Schistes
Grown on Schistose marls resting on the southern limestone foothills of the Massif des Corbières limit between the Pyrénées Orientales and the Aude. Altitude 220m. A majority of Carignan, very little Grenache Noir, even less Syrah from a 70 year old plot of vines. Manual harvest, wild ferment. Whole bunch maceration for a period of fifteen days, conservation of the cap of damp marc by daily wetting. Very little extraction, rather an infusion. This makes a beautiful light-footed wine. Amazing, bright and red-fruited vigorous Carignan. Like nothing we've tasted before. An utter marvel.

Domaine Gramiller's Les Marcels is from a single vineyard (Les Marcels) planted to 85% Grenache (1.9 ha, planed in 1901 and 1960), 15% Mourvdre (0.3 ha, 2011) from south west facing yellow marl soils on Les Marcels behind Les Girasols. The bunches are 70% destemmed and see a 3-4 week vinification at 25-26C. Both varieties are vinified separately. The wine sees small daily pump overs and no press wine added. The wine is then bred in concrete vat for six months. Bottled unfined and filtered. Certified organic. Only 2,000 bottles produced. A wonderful mix of rich ripe fruit that is so pure along with garrigue herbs, spices and fine dark chocolate, but with more freshness than one may expect. The wine still carries good matter and shall age very well, but Gramiller are top tier Rasteau that drink from the off.

A stunning single site Rasteau from organic vigneron Frederic Julien whose name is on everybody's lips. Gramiller 2020 was branded a top 'STGT' by leading Rhone writer John Livingston-Learnmouth. This is awarded when a wine reflects what John considers to be the beauty of the vineyard and the cellar in one bottle. STGT: the Soil to Glass Transfer John Livingstone-Learmonth on Drink Rhone: 80% Grenache (1960), 20% Syrah (2002) from south east facing blue clay, galet stone covered limestone, red soils, loose gravel at 250 metres on 'Gramiller' on the route de Saint Roman, a fresh zone, 70% destemmed, 3-4 week vinification at 25-26C of varieties apart, small daily pump overs, no press wine added, concrete vat raised for 6 months, unfined, filtered. Certified organic wine. 6,000 bottles produced. "The 2020 Gramiller was a real winner." and was rated ****(*) "Full red robe; the nose has sunny intensity, offers raspberry in liqueur form, with sweet herbs alongside, pumice stone, a little mystery that can develop, emerge. The palate gives a good, clear stream of quite thick red fruited juice, is well derived from its Grenache, leads into a peppery, spearmint moment into the rather tight finish. Its energy is above average, and it has plenty of interest, is not obvious, needs delving into. High quality, persistent Rasteau here. 14.5. VALUE". Drink from 2023 until 2036-38 tasted Feb 2022

Dom. Gramiller
Wonderful Rose made from a direct pressing of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. Frederic Julien seeks a balance between the aromatic purity of the fruit and freshness. The grapes come from a place named "La Giraude" in Sainte Ccile les Vignes. The soils can be likened to "nourishing" garrigues. The wine shows pink grapefruit, red fruits and flowers, gorgeous texture and perfect weight and freshness. Fine length. Unique and wonderful. Can be drunk on its own or will match well at the table with grilled vegetables, fish and light meat dishes.

50% Grenache Blanc, 40% Clairette (planted 1950) from 0.9 hectare on very stony alluvial soils at Sablet and 10% Roussanne on Gramiller at La Montagnette at Rasteau. The wine sees ferment in 80% steel vat, 20% old oak cask. Then bred for 6 months. 2,500 bottles produced. The nose is all freshly cut juicy pears and gorgeous white flowers - so pretty, utterly charming. More fruit and flowers to the palate's silky juice. This is medium-bodied, elegant and long Southern Rhone white wine with fine acid. Really jolly drinking and great with delicate fish or simply as the classiest aperitif.

Domaine des Soulanes
A verry special wine from ancient plants of two of the rarest and very best vines for Soualnes terroir, Grenache Gris and Carignan Gris. This really does have everything. It's floral, honeyed orchard and citrus fruits added to its sumptuousness, its layers of texture and bright but not too spiky acidity. Very long with great balance and so much interest. Divine stuff that is here in tiny quantities. Published on decanter.com June 2022: Domaine des Soulanes, Vieilles Vignes Blanc, Côtes Catalanes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2021 90/100 "A lovely, vivacious white, made from Grenache Gris and the rare Carignan Gris. The aromas are forward and pretty, delicately honeyed and floral, with some bruised apple and tangy lemon. I like how the wine feels really textural and pithy in the mouth, with a fresh, herbal acidity". Drinking Window 2022 - 2031

Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Macabeu from a beautiful vineyard in Calce, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels. Floral, racy and minerally with soft texture and generous apple and apricot fruit. Just lovely. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon – Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities – the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention – “To keep the fruit and the terroir”. The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling “It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers”.

Natural, organic Syrah from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels for 12 months. Lifted, expressive Syrah with pretty floral notes and minerally fresh red and black fruits with some spicy, meaty notes and soft texture but with some matter and with a welcome, silky fruit character. Charming Syrah. The name 'Chimichurri' is a nod to Vincent's beloved Argentina (see below) because of the wines spicy, meaty character. When we speak of Connivance, we mean a secret agreement, the pooling of a form of intelligence, with a convergence of ideas and actions. The idea of ??the Connivence cuve was born from a desire to share a common love of the land and good wine. It is also in this idea that the label was created, with two vines that intertwine to form one, thus showing the alliance of two winegrowers to create this wine. 50% Gamay from the Chteau du Moulin--Vent, and 50% Gamay from the Armand Heitz estate. This is a wine like no other, it is rich and powerful, yet delicate at the same time. The finish seems to go on forever, but it oh so subtle in doing it.It is Gamay fruit but with a more Cotes de Nuits edge to it. Amazing!
