Danjou-Banessy Roboul Rouge 2022 Cotes Catalanes Magnum 150cl
Buy 6+ at £56.99 each Buy 12+ at £53.99 each

This Roboul cuvée exudes lifted fruit aromas in abundance with blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates and also gentle garrigue notes. On the palate it is velvety with curious, beautiful interest. There is a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity and it ends with a striking freshness. It's a marvelous wee wine. Full bottle 1,341 g. Single vineyard. 60% Mourvèdre (20 years old), 40% Grenache (30 years old) on pudding stone, clay, sand and limestone tuffeau. Hand-picked; whole-bunch, spontaneous fermentation; minimal cap work; very gently pressed. Fermented separately because the Mourvèdre ripens so much later than the Grenache. 12 months in old oak barrels of 600, 500 and 400 litres. "If I’d not known what this wine was, and put it to my nose, my first guess would be Pinot Noir, Tasmania. Rosehips. Nectarine skin. Hibiscus tea. Morels. Then, after tasting it, I’d change my mind. I’d wonder if this was Cinsault, one of Alex Milner’s wraith-like beauties, perhaps: the bruised rose petals, the jasmine tea, the taste of prickly pears and dust and pungent-peppery-green at the back of my throat. Then I smell garrigue - cistus, broom heather, wild thyme, the smell of the wind blowing through holm oaks and twisted pines and I am in the south of France. This is the fey child of Roussillon. This is a wine that dances in the thin places". Very Good Value. Tamlyn Currin on jancisrobinson.com 18/20 jancisrobinson.com

An opulent Champagne with the perfect balance of freshness and generosity, from the smallest and arguably the best of the Grande Marques. The Brut Réserve NV is a radiant pale gold colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is characterised by complex pastry aromas, with an opulent combination of ripe apricot, mango, greengages, dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The palate begins with a silky-smooth sensation, developing into ripe fleshy apricot, melon and enticing plum pastry notes and delicate spice. There is perfect balance of freshness and generosity.

The world super-star of Provence pink. Delicate, complex and pale. Rare and sought-after. Summer in a glass. This stunning 17th-century estate was bought by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in 2009. After many millions spent restoring the vineyards and winery this world-class, super-pale, delicate but intensely flavoured pink became an instant classic - rated by Wine Spectator as the best rosé in the world, with early vintages sold out on release. Winemaking is by our old chum the famed Marc Perrin, whose family owns the stellar Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate Beaucastel, which has famously practised organic farming since the 1950s.

Domaine Odyssee l'Échappée Belle Blanc 2023 IGP Côtes Catalanes Magnum

Natural, organic Macabeu from a beautiful vineyard in Calce, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels. Floral, racy and minerally with soft texture and generous apple and apricot fruit. Just lovely. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention "To keep the fruit and the terroir.". The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling "It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers".

Natural, organic Syrah from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels for 12 months. Lifted, expressive Syrah with pretty floral notes and minerally fresh red and black fruits with some spicy, meaty notes and soft texture but with some matter and with a welcome, silky fruit character. Charming Syrah. The name 'Chimichurri' is a nod to Vincent's beloved Argentina (see below) because of the wines spicy, meaty character. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Buy 6+ at £41.80 each Buy 12+ at £39.60 each

Produced exclusively from Gamay grapes harvested from vines around 45 years old, and the vineyards are situated in a natural amphitheatre around the Château. It's matured in large oak vats before bottling, and the fruity, floral wine is an excellent pairing with cheese. The grapes are hand picked, sorted and de-stemmed before being put into temperature controlled stainless steel vats for a long (2-3 week) maceration period during which the chapeau de marc -the cap of the grape skins- is regularly pushed down into the juice (pigeage), to enhance the aromatics, colour and body of the finished wine. After pneumatic pressing, the malolactic fermentation takes place gently and slowly throughout the winter after which the wine is bottled in the spring. The wines are always aged for several months at the chateau before release.

Dom. Comelade Le Barral Rivesaltes Ambre 1992 Vin Doux Naturel 50cl
Buy 6+ at £27.54 each Buy 12+ at £26.09 each

Lionel Comelade produces this stunning wine from ancient vine Macabeu and Grenache Gris grown on amazing black and white schist soil vineyards between Estagel and Latour de France in the Roussillon. Both white grapes were harvested later in the season in 1990 with high sugar levels. The grapes were partially fermented in concrete vats and then neutral brandy was added to stop fermentation and keep natural sweetness in the wine. Then the wine was passed to second use oak barrels and left in the cellar for 32 years before bottling (to order). No ‘topping up’ of the barrels occurred in the 33 years. The wine is tremendous, possibly surpassing the 1988. It is ‘ambre’ in colour. A bright, wild nose with orange rind, orange oil and warm spices. The palate is thrilling with great complexity and depth with thrilling, wild acidity which really charms. Astonishing and quite unique. The wine is one of the best value fortified wines in the world. 33 years of age, so interesting and delicious. A steal at this price. please note: The photo is of a different vintage.

White Provence wines are a bit of a hidden treasure, little-known outside France but well-loved by wine buffs around the world. This example is typical, and very good value. Nice, mouth filling texture, the style reserved rather like Chablis. Delicate nose with notes of white flowers and citrus. Well balanced in the mouth, it is fresh, with great vivacity and a hint of bitterness with salty aromas. Nice length.

The 2022 is an even more serious and dialled-back incarnation than usual; a crisp, racy but intense blend of 88% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 2% Grenache Blanc. Mourvèdre provides a salinity, which counteracts the juicy peach and red berry fruit of the Grenache beautifully; a light touch of smoke and herb atop some clear, fresh raspberry and strawberry characteristics, make for a wine of allure, vitality and grip. This exquisite Rosé makes a perfect summer aperitif, although it is also robust enough to partner a variety of summer fare.

Billecart-Salmon

Billecart Salmon Sous Bois NV Magnum
Quick View
Billecart Salmon Sous Bois NV Magnum

Properly serious food wine, a Michelin-star classic! Parker 92 Aromas of almond paste, green orchard fruit, citrus oil and pastry cream introduce the latest example of Billecart's NV Brut Sous Bois, a bottling that's based on the 2009 vintage. The oak influence is much less pronounced than was the case with some of the early renditions of this cuvée, and it's really going from strength to strength, revealing a medium to full-bodied palate that's broad-shoulder and structured, with lively underpinning acids. Jancis 17/20 This new cuvee is all vinified in oak but hasn't a hint of obvious oak on the nose. Lovely quality of fizz. Brooding and intense. There is marked density here and excellent balance and persistence. As usual, we are not told on the back label how old this blend may be, just that it is 'respectfully composed' of the three Champagne varieties. But it's impressive wine and I suspect it will not be cheap. Recommended. Edge of green on the nose here. Steady bead. Really quite rich and intense. Quite a meaty nose – but then food smells are coming in from the 67 Pall Mall kitchen! Mathieu Billecart suggests Tete des Moines or Comté as a food match or mushroom risotto ‘but the mushrooms have to be in season’. Lots of impact.

Mas Almes x Domaine Odyssée is Vincent's Carreras' TRULY exciting collab release of 2025. I mean, the collabs are always exciting and excellent quality, but this REALLY surpassed all expectations. We thought the wine Vincent selected would be exciting, but nothing quite set us up for tasting this wine in early May 2025. At CWM we ship some of the very best value aged Roussillion sweet wines. We're very happy to say, here is another outstanding and outstanding value example. Bravo Vincent. Les Larmes du Soleil Rivesaltes Ambré - Hors d'Age - 15 years old, from Malvoisie and Muscat d'Alexandrie From Vincent Carreras: "For three years, between 2018 and 2021, before moving to the (current) Torreilles winery, I was able to set up my suitcases, or rather my vats, with Louis Rigaill, at Mas Almes, who kindly welcomed me. Being in the midst of a transition, I was able to continue structuring my project. At the back of his cellar, there were about forty barrels containing real treasures.... old sweet wines had been sleeping there for over 10 years. Louis allowed me to select the barrels of my choice and create a unique blend. So I thank him for his welcome, his advice, his generosity, and his patience with me over these three years, it's important for me to thank him in my own way, through collaboration. Cheers, Louis! Enjoy your retirement!"
