Domaine Danjou-Banessy
Natural, biodynamic and vegan. Grenache, Carignan and now (for the first time) Mourvedre from 80 year old vines, Made without filtering or fining. Pale but gorgeous mid red colour. At first on the nose, you are like "What even is that?". Whatever it is, you know that you like it. Elegant, subtle fruit is intermixed with gentle herb, earth and savoury charachters. Deep and wonderful. On the palate the wine is elegant and deep again, but not heavy in the slightest. Ruffled fruit and savoury notes with minerality and real finesse. These wines are like no other from the Roussillon. Outstanding. This is the magnum.

Drappier
Such a classic of the rich Pinot-dominated style, Pint really is their thing, down in sunny Urville where they've been since 1808 - still a family-owned House. Often seen on the lists of smart restaurants; quite the food wine, quite superb. Jancisrobinson.com 17/20 "Rich, creamy aroma. Brioche and pear. Lovely stone-fruit character. On the palate, glorious baked-apple brioche and excellent acidity. Almost a little chewy... orange and apricot.." Decanter Part of The best non-vintage Champagnes to buy: "Described by Drappier as 'almost a blanc de noirs', this Pinot Noir-dominant wine sourced from the Côte des Bar is the house's calling card. 5% of the cuvée is matured in barrels for a year for added complexity and texture, and it's bottled unfiltered with a fairly low dosage of 7g/l. There are some melon and apple scents on the nose along with a splash of red fruits, while the palate is intense, with notes of apple, quince and grape wrapped in a red-fruit veil. It's full-bodied and long, with a lovely texture from the red wine tannins and oak-matured portion."

Chateau Clos de Bouard
The Second wine of the magnificent Château Clos de Boüard, Dame de Boüard presents all the typicity of a great wine from Montagne-Saint-Émilion, an appellation located on the Right bank of the Bordeaux region, a few kilometers from Saint-Émilion. The Château Clos de Boüard estate covers 30 hectares of vines, aged 40 years on average, planted on clay-limestone hillsides with beautiful southern exposure. The Dame de Boüard 2017 results from a very thorough selection of the finest grapes, sorted manually, then by a Mistral and finally by optical sorting. The blend is made up of 66% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 10 to 14 months in barrels, of which 30% is new oak.

This wine boasts a lovely deep ruby-red colour and a concentrated bouquet revealing notes of ripe fruit and mild spices. It is a well-structured wine, fleshy on the palate and with hints of liquorice to finish.

Billecart-Salmon
Famously delicate and sexy pink At the March 2022 Taste Champagne (300 wines) I have to say this stood out as one of the most delicious "drinking Champagnes" on show - and there were some very Showy wines on show that day. A huge success for us, easy to forget just how gorgeous it is - firstly it is so very savoury, forget the cherry fruits, it's more like Xmas cake, rhubarb, forest floor, nettle and nutmeg. When the glass is empty the aromas persist. This is Grand stuff, the stuff of deluxe cuvee, truly epic. And a dinner wine too. A cunning counsel for you - don't serve it too cold, err on the cellar-temperature side. March 2022. Of course the whole Billecart range is exceptional and impressive but the 'basic NV is a STEAL! Seriously, super-tight with Silex and citrus, grippy and bracing. On best-ever form.
