Natural, organic Macabeu from a beautiful vineyard in Calce, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels. Floral, racy and minerally with soft texture and generous apple and apricot fruit. Just lovely. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention "To keep the fruit and the terroir.". The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling "It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers".

A project of impassioned labour built from the ground up by husband-and-wife team Gaëlle and Jérôme Meunier, this tiny Chalonnaise estate offers the opportunity to enjoy artisanal wine in the big-money world of Burgundy. The Domaine was born in 2005 when the pair rented their first parcel of vines in Bouzeron, selling to negociants and slowly expanding their holdings to include several parcels in Mercurey. From 2007 they began vinifying and bottling under their own name, and purchased winemaking premises. In the present they now cultivate 30 acres of land ranging from Puligny-Montrachet in the north down to their core holdings in Rully and Mercurey. About a third of these grapes are still sold to cooperatives, with Domaine Meunier retaining the rest for their own wines. Gaëlle and Jérôme pride themselves on harvesting early for freshness, and their wines are defined by a fruit-forward, easy-going style aimed at immediate enjoyment. Interventions in the vineyard and during winemaking are minimised to maximalise sustainability and preserve terroir character. Harvesting and sorting is all done by hand, with natural yeast fermentation and a highly judicious approach to oak influence, which is never overbearing or obtrusive, even in youth. The wines are generally unfined, with only light filtration. Yield restriction is rigorous, and although production is always small, at 2,000 cases in a good year, their desire to maintain quality and concentration irrespective of conditions means that in lean vintages total quantity can be significantly less than this. Indeed, their punctiliousness with selection means that their Chalonnaise wines often meet the far more stringent yield requirements of the Côte d’Or. Although volumes are low, the sheer quality of the wine speaks volumes of its own. Another of our producers in high demand, reliably selling out every year. Superbly elegant Meursault. Nothing thick or cloying to this wine. Brioche and vanilla on the nose and palate. Gentle layer of lemon hovering over events with a sliver of oak making up an incredibly structured wine. Lovely texture.

Fresh red apples, white grape skin, some citrus and fresh nettles. Soft notes of oak coming through on the tongue. Good acidity balance. Round and long.

L’Invite 2023 displays more of the richer and classic Viognier characters than is usual from this extraordinarily high and stunning terroir of schist with large pebbles of basalt mixed in. These characters marry well with the awesome minerality this site constantly shows. An absolute stunner.

Jérôme and Elisabeth Billard are the 4th generation of his family to have managed Domaine Billard Pere & Fils. Their winery is located in La Rochepot, a village just west of Saint-Aubin. Jérôme has built up the estate's vineyard holdings to an impressive 18.5 hectares, with the largest area in Hautes Cotes de Beaune, as well as Beaune, St Romain, St Aubin, Auxey Duresses and Pommard. Jérôme’s philosophy is "expressing the typicity of the terroir.". Yields are low and grapes are concentrated because of organic farming techniques, extensive pruning and cover crops between vines. His trusty Percheron steed, Raphael, ploughs the vineyards at the estate and for Domaine de la Romanee Conti. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted on a vibrating table to ensure only the best are selected. Winemaking is low intervention. Pinot Noir is foot trodden to gently extract tannins, only natural yeasts are used and wines are left on lees in oak barrels before bottling at the estate. As a consequence of these meticulous efforts, Billard offers high quality wines with layers of complexity and concentration at surprisingly low prices. The Hautes Cotes de Beaune White comes from a single 3 hectare vineyard called La Justice which is found next to Saint Aubin on a sunny, chalky hillside with good drainage. Perfumed and floral with nice peach notes. Citrus, peach, and oaky and vanilla flavours with some white pepper. Nice acidity and length.

CWM Rating: First Class! 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc A classy, complex nose of passion fruit, mango, lemon tart and gooseberry. Great intensity on the savoury palate with a smokey undertone. Creamy hazelnuts, yuzu zest and green fruits, seasoned with vanilla seeds, lead to a touch of spice on the finish.

Aromas of flaky pastry and apricot, then powerful on the palate, with rich, unctuous baked apricot fruit. There's good, deep-set acidity within and it finishes dry with a luxurious spread across the palate. Classic white Châteauneuf that has sufficient interest and flavour even without any oak. Drink young. Fermented then aged in stainless steel.

A lovely Burgundy white with notes of orchard fruits, citrus, and vanilla with crisp acidity. The Prudhon family is one of the oldest in the village of Saint-Aubin. The vineyard has been passed down through the generations and today, the domaine covers 15 hectares of vineyards, spread out over Saint-Aubin and its neighbouring communes Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.

St Aubin has got to be one of the best value wines in Burgundy. This is a full-bodied, generous and precise wine. Easily accessible, it is the perfect accompaniment for aperitifs or a simple cooked meat (charcuterie), poultry or fish dishes.

This excellent white Burgundy comes from the intermediate clay/limestone slopes in the commune of Montagny. Very complex aromas on the nose, with successive fruity, floral and mineral hints, with particular menthol and lemon overtones. A full-bodied and rich wine with amazing finesse and delicate aromas.

100% Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, one of the most famous regions for that grape variety in the world. A super smooth, well rounded example with mainly ripe apple flavours upfront, juicy acidity and there’s also a little floral feel to it too - unmistakably an off-dry wine with the ripe fruit pushing forward. A very easy sipper, thoroughly enjoyable.

Pale gold coloured wine with light green reflections. Elegant and precise nose of white peach, pear and then honey and pine kernel. Pure and flavourful palate with a contrasted balance between Mediterranean roundness and fresh finale. 100% Clairette Rose whole-bunch pressed, from sandy, galet stone soils on Pignan (N-E, 0.8 hectare, 1979-80) & Bédines (N-E, 0.2 hectare, 1982, 1984), Saintes Georges (N-E, 0.2 hectare, 1960s), 50% steel vat, 50% 1-year 228-litre oak cask fermented at up to 17.5°C, raised 5-6 months, 1-2 lees stirrings a week, malo blocked, 1,000 bottles only.

Lovely complex nose, with notes of exotic fruits (lychee, mango) and white pepper. The mouth is full and very long. This is a wine with good freshness from lingering acidity balanced with a touch of residual sugar on the finish.

Rolly-Gassmann is a domaine like no other and has a unique style. It is located at Rorschwihr, a sleepy village on the northern rim of Haut-Rhin. The vineyards are located in Rorschwihr and the neighbouring Rodern and Bergheim. The wines are small masterpieces with very good definition. They all carry the signature of Rolly-Gassmann, a certain shameless, velvety sweetness. The fruit is rich and manages to balance the fruit with a vibrant acidity to form wines that melt on the palate.

An opulent Champagne with the perfect balance of freshness and generosity, from the smallest and arguably the best of the Grande Marques. The Brut Réserve NV is a radiant pale gold colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is characterised by complex pastry aromas, with an opulent combination of ripe apricot, mango, greengages, dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The palate begins with a silky-smooth sensation, developing into ripe fleshy apricot, melon and enticing plum pastry notes and delicate spice. There is perfect balance of freshness and generosity.

This is a ‘hands on’ Domaine that firmly believes good wine is made in the vineyard. Serge’s daughter, Valèrie, looks after their 15 hectares of vineyards and makes the wine with a view to preserving as much terroir in the wines as possible. Their vines are planted on a unique concoction of clay/limestone ‘Terres Blanches’ over kimmeridgean clay and crushed oyster shells. Moreover the vineyard slopes are all fully exposed to every second of sun each day has to offer being south and south-west facing. Such exceptional terroir as this resounds throughout the wines which practically sing with flavours of gunflint, flowers and cut grass.

A very special wine. Winemaker Vincent comes from the Loire Valley so knows about Chenin from there and time making wine in South Africa. Chenin originated in the Languedoc so bringing it back is exciting. The wine is fermented in egg shaped concrete fermenting tanks, which allows better movement of liquid during and after fermentation than in stainless steel. Some barrel ageing too for texture. Well balanced with a purity of fruit enhanced by its roundness and length.. Highly recommended.

Very rare, very low production. One of the legendary white wines of the Roussillon grown at elevation (500m) in a vineyard called 'Le Soula' (the name adopted by the neighbouring estate Eric Laguerre was once involved with) high in Saint-Martin-de-Fenouillet, on granite soils. Mineral, taught, fine and long with beautiful texture. A blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Rolle, Grenache Blanc and Maccabeu. Outstanding wine which can age gracefully for 25++ years. Beautiful vineyards that are beautifully worked by the master Eric Laguerre. After first visiting the vineyard back in September 2009, we are very happy to now be importing the wines from Domaine Laguerre exclusively to the UK market. The Rhône cannot make white wines like this, although they carry a far higher price which somehow, wrongly, implies that they are somehow better, more valuable. This wine. Spliced by acidity that is so laser focused yet so gentle that it feels like the fall of spring petals through sunlight and falls like a blade of obsidian leaving a cut so fine that only the air drew breath in its wake. This wine. Tastes of Reine Claude plums so sweet the flesh has turned liquid to honey inside the green-gold skin, of cardamom husk caught in the pot of cream coddling slowly on the stove; of pink grapefruit and sucking on a twist of aromatic peel. Exquisite freshness; nacreous beauty; and yet almost shockingly bare of winemaking tricks. It's beautiful. Complete. Grapes for this Pinot Gris were sourced from selected small plots in the Hunawihr vineyards, which lie at an altitude of 250-300 metres above sea level. On the palate, elegant flavours of pear are supported with a subtle smokiness.

A small family grower in the famous village of Cumieres in the Marne valley. Pinot-dominated (like most wines from this village), it shows a deep copper/gold colour and gorgeously aromatic. The palate is wonderfully peachy and lush whilst being bright and explosively juicy! The extended bottle-ageing of this wine (6-8 years) is rather longer most NV Champagnes and lends the wine its weight and character. But it's also fresh and lemony, making for a great combination. Judges on a Decanter tasting panel were particularly wowed by this Cuvée when tasting it blind with other Grower Champagnes in 2017, ALL giving it 98/100 points and the wine also went on to regarded as one of Decanter’s very favourite bottles of the year. We love it too and have been shipping it direct from the Bertrand family since 2008.

Escaravailles rare top end white we are very lucky to see an allocation of. Even with a hot, short vintage Madeline has produced a very fine, elegant, juicy long and fine Rhone wine.

Crunchy, pure Chardonnay with a hint of creamy oak, this is a super example of modern Burgundian winemaking from the impressive Buxy cooperative. Highly recommended

100% Chardonnay grown on limestone slopes in the best areas of the Macon. Made by the excellent Buxy cooperative, in stainless steel tanks then bottled after several months on lees. Floral and citrus notes, mouthwatering acidity and lovely long flavour. A superb introduction to White Burgundy this overdelivers for its price.

This is a lovely dessert wine with a bright, golden colour. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe apricot, honey, and orange blossom, along with hints of jasmine and citrus zest. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with flavours of candied citrus, stone fruit, and a touch of tropical fruit. The sweetness is well-balanced with a refreshing acidity that keeps the wine from being cloying. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving lingering notes of honey and apricot.

Some citrus, pear and white flowers perfumes develop on the nose. The rich aromas continue through the mid-palate. A long lasting wine, with a refreshing finish. Very versatile wine for a range of fish, chicken and salad dishes.

100% Viognier from Les Méjeans next to the winery on mix of kaolin white clay, argile calcaire and also decayed granite just above where the northern boundary of Crozes-Hermitage dips southward on the map, but the elevation remains high at 350m in between Gervans and Larnage, just a little to the north. Hand harvested in early morning, steel vat fermented at 18°C, raised 9 months, malo blocked. What a lovely wine from a unique, interesting terroir. A quite serious but relaxed and lovely, aromatic, floral, juicy but bright drinking Viognier with a gentle, gorgeous creaminess on the finish. Delicious as an apero or with semi hard goats cheese, peaches and charcuterie. A classy drop indeed.

A blend of Viognier 40%, Roussanne 40% and White Grenache 20%. 20 year old vines are planted in mixed soils of clay, limestone and round pebbles. Peachy aromas, with a fresh and expressive palate that's juicy and very pleasing. More peach flavour from the Viognier and a weighty mid-palate from the Roussanne. Excellent value for money. Grapes are mechanically harvested and vinification takes place in temperature controlled stainless-steel tanks, with regular stirring of the lees. This preserves the freshness and fruitiness of the wine. Domaine La Lôyane was voted Winemaker of the Year in 2018 by the Guide Hachette, France's wine bible. La Lôyane refers to the place where the estate is built, a place formerly occupied by wolves! The estate, founded in 1994, is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, near Avignon in the Lirac cru. The Dubois family has been cultivating its 20 hectares of vines there for 4 generations! And the last, with Romain Dubois, has cnverted the estate to organic farming. An extremely precise estate, which is constantly moving upmarket and producing wines from vines that are sometimes more than a century old!

Classic Picpoul de Pinet with a pretty floral nose, very refreshing on the palate and an attractive grapefruit and lemon peel finish. This is a really lovely vintage from our friends at Domaine de Castelnau, great growers of Picpoul de Pinet.

Control of yields via optimal management of nutrition and de-budding. It spends 4 months in stainless steel vats. Batonnage on the lees to accentuate the plumpness on the palate.

Medium-dry style with lots of ripe peach, apple and pear flavours. The luscious palate is weighty but balanced by good freshness. An emblematic property of Anjou, the Château de Fesles and its wine estate were built in the 11th century at the top of the 4th highest point in the Loire Valley. Its exceptional geographical position as well as its proximity to the Layon river allow it to produce wines with a distinguished and complex character. Buttery and creamy on the nose with a lovely dose of oak giving honeycomb and caramel notes to the green apple and peach fruit. Lovely precise acidity and chalky tannic texture. Long, bright, flavoursome and characterful. Starting to show some attractive development on the finish too.
