A light, fresh Lager brewed with a blend of malted barley, spelt and rye. The nose presents aromas of citrus zest, grapefruit and subtle spice from Saaz, Huell Melon and Hersbrucker hops. A delicate malt sweetness is quickly balanced by a smooth hop bitterness which leads to a clean, dry finish. As with all our Lagers, this beer has been matured in our horizontal tanks. Pale straw in colour and brilliantly bright, The Gluten Free Pils uses a naturally occurring enzyme to break down the gluten normally present in malted barely. A simple malt base of English Pilsner malt and Chit give a clean, precise base for the gentle aromas of Hersbrucker and Loral hops to shine through. A touch of malt sweetness is quickly balanced by a smooth hop bitterness, keeping the beer fresh, light and easy to drink. Laboratory testing has certified this beer to contain less than 20ppm gluten and is therefore considered Gluten Free.
Inspired by the Helles Lagerbiers of Munich, this is a true London Lager. German malts, European hops and London water come together to produce a smooth, crisp and flavourful beer. In the spirit of Das Reinheitsgebot, we use the spunding method to carbonate our lager naturally; while an extended cold storage in Lager tanks gives our beer time to condition and mature as all true lagers must.
