Adelphi
A Blended Scotch Whisky from Adelphi, perhaps better known as an independent bottler. However, this blend of grain and malt whisky is from its private stock which is kept in a solera system. Though excactly where the whisky hails from is kept rather hush hush, we suspect it contains spirit from all over the shop, from Islay, Speyside and Campbeltown.

Marcelo Pelleriti
James Suckling 94 Points A top blend from Marcello here. His wines are all natural, and we are delighted to have them back after an absence of a couple of years. This blend is produced from handpicked grapes which underwent a micro fermentation with natural yeasts prior to being aged in oak for 20 months. This is a seriously good wine, more savoury and elegant than fruit driven, with noticeable vanilla on the finish.

Kloovenburg
Classy Cotes-du-Rhone style blend from family vineyards in Swartland. This beauty was selected as Tim Atkin’s the best Budget Red for his South Africa Report 2025. "Wonderfully drinkable stuff from the talented Duncan Stuart, this is an eminently drinkable blend of 49% Grenache, 32% Syrah, 14% Garnacha Peluda and 5% Mourvèdre that's bottled with a screwcap for easy access. Juicy, tangy and lightly wooded, it's a Cape Côtes du Rhône, with bramble, strawberry and white pepper flavours and textured tannins." Tim Atkin

Caisteal Chamuis
This expression from Mossburn's Caisteal Chamuis range is a marvellous blended malt Scotch whisky made with Island malts that have been matured for 12 years in refill American oak hogsheads, and then given a finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks. The peaty notes of the Island whiskies blends deliciously with the sweet dried fruit notes from the sherry casks, making for a satisfying expression. The name Caisteal Chamuis comes from a castle that you'll find up on the Isle of Skye, which is a neat connection.

Lanzerac
Le Général is a suitably serious, even patrician blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 8% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot from the cooler Jonkershoek Valley. Framed by 40% new French oak, it has ample colour and concentration, damson, blueberry and blackcurrant fruit and a firm, brooding finish.

Fairly simple cherry and redcurrant aromas lead to blackcurrants and plums in the mouth, with refreshing acidity and a line of bitterness on the back palate. The grapes were whole-bunch pressed, which perhaps adds that greeness underneath the ripe fruit. A more structured, tannic wine than initially expected, but with lovely fruit - delicious wine.

Apple, melon, a drizzle of honey and something floral too. Gorgeously caramelised palate, giving an impression of sweetness. The fruit is really charming, ripe and tropical without any confection. Savoury finish with a long, lightly smoky aftertaste. South Africa at its best.

Vilafonté
Named in honour of the ancient vilafonté soils that make up the estate at 1.5m years old, one of the oldest documented soil types in the world where the vines for this wine have been growing for almost two decades. A Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Just 330 barrels produced of this stunning wine. Layers of fresh plum, black cherry, baking spice and vanilla pod. Lovely mineral notes with a lingering finish. A line of acidity giving real tension to the whole wine.

Adi Badenhorst
Adi Badenhorst has created three canned versions of his good-value, entry-level Curator wines, of which this is the pick. Aromas of juicy apricots, pineapples, bananas, nectarines and wild strawberry hints too. The palate is rich, intense and flavoursome with ripe stone and some tropical fruit, bound in a creamy mouthfeel, like a mouthful of peach yoghurt. A little jasmine freshness tickles the finish. "Canned wine has gone seriously next-level". Victoria Moore, The Telegraph

Larry Cherubino
Produced from a blend of Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Gris this is a kaleidoscope of exotic flavours. Passionfruit, lime, bay leaf, pear, Turkish delight, lychee and rosewater. Interestingly complex yet refined, softly textured but refreshingly minerally on the finish. A wonderful aperitif, however would equally be lovely when enjoyed with lightly spiced Asian cuisine or herby chicken/vegetable dishes.

Basket Range
From Sholto Broderick at Basket Range Wines: This wine is the evolution of the style my father made using the same fruit; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. These vines were planted first in the early 1980s and at our new adjacent vineyard in 2001. Growing these varieties and making them into wine, I see the quality of the site and concentration of the fruit. Each block sits at a northern facing aspect on loamy clay over sandstone. The wine shows ripeness of tannin, structure and balance, while having energy and elegance. A reflection of an excellent site for these varieties. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon predominant blend (75%) with Merlot (19%) and Petit Verdot (6%). Each component was fermented in 2000L vats and matured in French barriques for 10 months. The 2022 Estate Cabernet is a pretty special wine for me. The 2021 Estate Cabernet was awarded the "Best Cabernet Trophy" at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show in 2022. I feel the 2022 vintage release is the best job of it I have made so far. Only 230 dozen produced. From Mike Bennie in The Wine Front: "From the Basket Range, of course, and a blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot, 6% petit verdot. Sholto Broderick guides the process here, a young fella with a lot of clever stuff going on in his head, and a steady hand on the idea of legacy for the family estate. This feels like a very mature human made it. So even, so precise, so balanced, so serious yet so drinkable. Succulent texture, a freshness in the mix, dark cherry, faint mocha, liquorice, clove, blonde tobacco, alpine amaro characters in bouquet and palate. A web of emery board tannin shapes things nicely, the persistence is notable with graphite and crushed rock minerality finishing things in the distance, with a lick of clove spice there too. So wonderfully poised and offers concentration yet lift throughout. It’s decidedly serious. It’s fabulous". 94/100 The Wine Front

Compass Box
The Circle is based around a parcel of fruity and creamy single malt from the Tamdhu Distillery in Speyside. This is supported by malt whisky from the Clynelish Distillery. A touch of peated malt whisky from an Orkney distillery and a small proportion of a French oak-finished blended malt whisky complete the recipe. Rosey Mitchell is the 2018 winner of The Circle, a programme designed to inspire bartenders around the world. Rosey’s prize? To create a blend with Compass Box founder John Glaser and whiskymaker Jill Boyd. Rosey wanted to make an approachable whisky to be shared with friends, something for the daytime, a whisky with brightness. She called it 'sunshine in a glass.'

Proprieta Sperino
Wow this is delicious. Typical of high-altitude cooler northern Piedmont sites - Burgundian in style, even tawny, savoury, a little leathery. Lovely date/fig nose, evolved, beautifully resolved tannins. Jancis Robinson OBE MW "Pale ruby. Heady and hedonistic nose. A little dusty and tannic on the finish after a relatively light-bodied palate. This doesn’t just call for food – it needs it! Quite long." Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Croatina. This splendid 10 hectare hillside estate is situated in the small town of Lessona, near Biella in northern Piemonte. It passed into the De Marchi family (of top Chianti Classico estate Isole e Olena) through their relative, Felice Sperino, a passionate viticulturist and professor in Turin.

An amazing blend of rums aged between 5 and 14 years, Angostura 1919® is a true Trinidadian rum, oaky on the palate, with exotic spices, vanilla, a hint of honey and dried fruits. Vina Maquis
92 Points James Suckling, 92 Points Robert Parker Maquis Lien is a hand-crafted blend, resulting in a distinctive wine that reflects the special plot of land the Hurtado family owns in the Colchauga Valley in Chile. The vineyards and winery are located at the confluence of two historic rivers, which brought down sediments from the Andes that established the vineyard's alluvial soils. The same river canyons channel cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, contributing to the wine's rich fruit character. The nose is very harmonious and the varieties feel very integrated; the Carménère does not dominate the aromas and is nicely blended with the others. There is an extra spark of freshness here along with more restraint and seriousness. A red blend of finesse.

Ridge Vineyards
The core blend of Monte Bello 2022 was assembled by the production team over two days in February. Out of twenty-six candidate lots, fourteen were selected at this stage, with a few earmarked as potential additions at the next blending session. The team reconvened on May 3rd for the second and final assemblage of 2022 Monte Bello. The panel of eight determined that, of the three further lots being presented, just one had the qualities consistent with Monte Bello. The addition of this lot will result in a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The typically intense dark purple colour of a young Monte Bello belies the vivid aromatics: the nose opens with a wonderful floral aroma over the precise berry fruit. There is copious structure, but it is very fine-grained even at this early stage. Splendid balance and harmony already, with an ultra-long finish indicating the great potential of this wine.

Basket Range
A new cuvée here from Basket Range - a juicy, fruity, delicious chillable red blend. From Sholto Broderick at Basket Range Wines: This wine is comprised predominately of Merlot and Petit Verdot from our vineyard. These were macerated with the use of whole bunches and with gentle handling, which gives lifted fruit and a spice from the stalks. The components were then blended with small amount of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This makes for a red wine with gentle tannin and a lifted mid-palate. The Bantam is a dynamic wine that showcases juicy soft plums, white pepper, and graphitic tannin, with a savoury, highly drinkable quality. Designed for earlier drinking, it's best served cooler, at about 12c.

Louis Roederer
The bouquet is open and rich yet also wonderfully fresh. It offers an explosion of ripe, delicate fruit with intense notes of mirabelle plum from the Pinot noir, complemented by sweet lemon meringue pie and delicate notes of jasmine from the Chardonnay. The nose opens up to reveal autolytic characters and evolves towards smoky, roasted notes and freshly baked pastries. The palate is deep and dense with a big, well-structured backbone. The texture is simply mesmerising with its fleshy mouthfeel from the Pinot Noir that coats the palate before giving way to an incredible saline freshness with a pleasant hint of bitterness. This wine combines the strength, intensity and power of the delectably ripe Pinot Noirs which are balanced to perfection by the chalky freshness and density from the Chardonnay which forms the majority of the blend. This 244th blend from the Louis Roederer Champagne House is based on the finest successes of the 2019 harvest, a year of record-breaking temperatures brought by particularly intense heat waves. Dry and continental and of magnificent maturity, this year gave us wines that were dense and fresh, with a masterful balance, conducive to bringing out the powerful and luscious Collection character in the blend.

This champagne has a special place in the history of the House. It is from a family plot of Pinot Noir in Cumières that this precious red wine comes, giving our blend an unique personality. First you will find red fruits, with wild violet and liqourice notes to follow. Ripe yet racy, with beautiful length. Fine and full on the palate, with a touch of mint on the finish.
