Domaine Bertrand Bachelet
Brilliant ruby robe, raspberry. A striking nose, with an aroma of red fruit, blackcurrant. Fresh on the palate, with peppery notes. The Maranges appellation is the youngest of the Côte de Beaune family, making its debut in May 1989. It spans three villages, namely Dezize-lès-Maranges, Cheilly-les-Maranges and Sampigny-les-Maranges. Several hills and slopes make up this appellation, all south/south-east-facing, at an altitude of between 200 and 400 metres. The Maranges 1ers Crus are spread over seven distinct climats.

Vignerons de Buxy
Pinot Noir from the Chalonnaise region of Burgundy that borders the Cotes de Beaune to the North. Intense ruby colour with hints of purple. A wide palette of aromas dominated by morello cherry and red fruits. Hints of smoke and leather, finely balanced with harmonious tannin. This wine may be enjoyed young and it is also ideal for laying down for a couple more years.

Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon
Decanter92/100 The entry-level wine from Lafon’s Mâconnais operation offers spectacular value. The bottling includes grapes from Viré-Clessé, Uchizy, Viré, Chardonnay and Bussières, including grapes declassified from single-vineyard sites. The grapes are pressed as whole clusters and fermented in large, upright wooden foudres before ageing for six months. Although the wine in 2022 did not have a lot of malic acid, it still has a lovely freshness and equilibrium. Drink 2023 - 2028 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.com (January 2023)

Henri Prudhon & Fils
A lovely Burgundy white with notes of orchard fruits, citrus, and vanilla with crisp acidity. The Prudhon family is one of the oldest in the village of Saint-Aubin. The vineyard has been passed down through the generations and today, the domaine covers 15 hectares of vineyards, spread out over Saint-Aubin and its neighbouring communes Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Great producer, crafting top quality wines at not-too-silly prices. From two plots in Puligny-Montrachet, this is a great introduction to both Burgundy and the Montille style. A wine of purity, elegance and finesse.

Domaine Remi Jeanniard
Remi Jeanniard’s neighbours say that he and his wife are always in the vineyards; even on 2nd January, they were seen out pruning the vines. Remi has just over 7 hectares of vines in and around Morey-St-Denis. The vines are much older than average, with all of his Vieilles Vignes village bottlings being at least 50 years old. This gives a natural concentration to the wines which are both well structured and elegant. Dried fruits, figs, cherries, currants, and violets. Exciting. Supple tannins.

Domaine Gaëlle et Jérôme Meunier
Gaelle and Jerome Meunier started their own domaine in Rully and Mercurey, before adding a further hectare of Puligny 1er Cru Champs Gain. The Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023 comes from young vines across the villages and has bright aromas of whte peach and flowers, some seasoned oak and plenty of rich tree fruit flavour. A nice balance of ripe fruit and savoury oak.

Gamay just wants to have fun!

Domaine Alain Gras
Perhaps the best known vineyard in the Saint Romain appellation, this shows a little oak on the nose with very good concentration and flashes of citrus. The palate too shows some toastiness with a sweet frame and the whole is very juicy with good energy. Long and concentrated with a silky finish. Alain Gras is the reference point for St-Romain. This extremely steep village was considered part of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune until 1947. The vineyards are set back from the main Côte and mostly at higher elevation and have unquestionably improved in quality by the changes in climate and no longer struggle to reach full physiological maturity. The domaine covers 12 hectares with 8ha being planted with Chardonnay and 4ha to Pinot Noir. There are 42 separate parcels but Alain prefers to blend the grapes into one cuvée.

Domaine Fournillon
Pascal Fournillon is a sweet-natured man, always happy when people find him in the sleepy hamlet of Bernouil, some 10 miles north-east of Chablis town. His mum also makes the best gougeres if you need further incentive. Pascal's vineyards cover some 23 hectares of land in the appellations of Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru and Epineuil. He is bottling more and more of his own wine rather than selling in bulk and this means we have access to good allocations of Chablis that Pascal is happy to age for us for a few years till it is perfect to drink. This Bourgogne Chardonnay is from vineyards near Chablis and bears all the hallmarks of it; steely, lemony, fine and elegant.

Domaine Billard Pere et Fils
Jérôme and Elisabeth Billard are the 4th generation of his family to have managed Domaine Billard Pere & Fils. Their winery is located in La Rochepot, a village just west of Saint-Aubin. Jérôme has built up the estate's vineyard holdings to an impressive 18.5 hectares, with the largest area in Hautes Cotes de Beaune, as well as Beaune, St Romain, St Aubin, Auxey Duresses and Pommard. Jérôme’s philosophy is "expressing the typicity of the terroir.". Yields are low and grapes are concentrated because of organic farming techniques, extensive pruning and cover crops between vines. His trusty Percheron steed, Raphael, ploughs the vineyards at the estate and for Domaine de la Romanee Conti. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted on a vibrating table to ensure only the best are selected. Winemaking is low intervention. Pinot Noir is foot trodden to gently extract tannins, only natural yeasts are used and wines are left on lees in oak barrels before bottling at the estate. As a consequence of these meticulous efforts, Billard offers high quality wines with layers of complexity and concentration at surprisingly low prices. The Hautes Cotes de Beaune White comes from a single 3 hectare vineyard called La Justice which is found next to Saint Aubin on a sunny, chalky hillside with good drainage. Perfumed and floral with nice peach notes. Citrus, peach, and oaky and vanilla flavours with some white pepper. Nice acidity and length.

Cave du Chateau de Chenas
Established in 1934, this is a substantial cooperative winery with more than 80 members and vineyard holdings totalling 210ha, the largest of which are the 90ha within Moulin-à-Vent. The cave works across all 10 of the Beaujolais crus. The main building dates back to 1821 and the vaulted cellars to 1730. La Chapelle des Bois is a south-facing 1.29ha site on deep granitic soils. 100% whole-bunch fruit, a longer-than-average maceration to optimise extraction, fermentation in concrete, followed by ageing in stainless steel tanks.

Chateau de Marsannay
A top class Bourgogne from vines on the slopes north of Marsannay near Dijon. The soils here are gravelly, rather like those of Beaune Greves. 30% whole bunch fermentation, the whole estate is farmed organically. At 14.5% the long hot summer is evident - deep colour, plenty of stuffing and grip, just beginning to open nicely, after a few hours bags of deep fruit come through, like a young Gevrey in style. A cracking example of vibrant Cote De Nuits. Since 2012 Château de Marsannay has been owned by the Halley family, at the same time they bought the Château de Meursault. They own 34 hectares of superbly situated vines, and as with Château de Meursault, have invested heavily in realising the estate’s huge potential. The Domaine is managed by Château de Meursault’s Stephane Follin-Arbelet, who is overseeing a quality revolution, but Château de Marsannay have their own winemaking team, lead by the fantastic, and award-winning, Sylvain Pabion. Winemaking is classic and adaptive, largely de-stalked but with whole bunches when necessary, a cold-soaked prior to fermentation and then ageing in a mixture of new and used oak barriques for over a year. Alongside Château de Meursault, this is on course to become one of the largest organic certified estates in the Côte d'Or.

Domaine Gaëlle et Jérôme Meunier
A project of impassioned labour built from the ground up by husband-and-wife team Gaëlle and Jérôme Meunier, this tiny Chalonnaise estate offers the opportunity to enjoy artisanal wine in the big-money world of Burgundy. The Domaine was born in 2005 when the pair rented their first parcel of vines in Bouzeron, selling to negociants and slowly expanding their holdings to include several parcels in Mercurey. From 2007 they began vinifying and bottling under their own name, and purchased winemaking premises. In the present they now cultivate 30 acres of land ranging from Puligny-Montrachet in the north down to their core holdings in Rully and Mercurey. About a third of these grapes are still sold to cooperatives, with Domaine Meunier retaining the rest for their own wines. Gaëlle and Jérôme pride themselves on harvesting early for freshness, and their wines are defined by a fruit-forward, easy-going style aimed at immediate enjoyment. Interventions in the vineyard and during winemaking are minimised to maximalise sustainability and preserve terroir character. Harvesting and sorting is all done by hand, with natural yeast fermentation and a highly judicious approach to oak influence, which is never overbearing or obtrusive, even in youth. The wines are generally unfined, with only light filtration. Yield restriction is rigorous, and although production is always small, at 2,000 cases in a good year, their desire to maintain quality and concentration irrespective of conditions means that in lean vintages total quantity can be significantly less than this. Indeed, their punctiliousness with selection means that their Chalonnaise wines often meet the far more stringent yield requirements of the Côte d’Or. Although volumes are low, the sheer quality of the wine speaks volumes of its own. Another of our producers in high demand, reliably selling out every year. Please contact us for inquiries regarding allocation and en primeur sales.

Domaine Alain Gras
Blended from various terroirs of the appellation across just over 3 hectares, the 2022 White Saint-Romain Les Cinq Climats is a pure delight of mastery and indulgence. It's an evocative white wine, with notes of ripe fruits complemented by a slightly exotic touch, draped in beautiful freshness and, most notably, a generous mouthfeel. Its rich and opulent character makes it simply irresistible. Alain Gras is the reference point for St-Romain. This extremely steep village was considered part of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune until 1947.
