Billecart-Salmon
Famously delicate and sexy pink At the March 2022 Taste Champagne (300 wines) I have to say this stood out as one of the most delicious "drinking Champagnes" on show - and there were some very Showy wines on show that day. A huge success for us, easy to forget just how gorgeous it is - firstly it is so very savoury, forget the cherry fruits, it's more like Xmas cake, rhubarb, forest floor, nettle and nutmeg. When the glass is empty the aromas persist. This is Grand stuff, the stuff of deluxe cuvee, truly epic. And a dinner wine too. A cunning counsel for you - don't serve it too cold, err on the cellar-temperature side. March 2022. Of course the whole Billecart range is exceptional and impressive but the 'basic NV is a STEAL! Seriously, super-tight with Silex and citrus, grippy and bracing. On best-ever form.

Graham's
A perfect tawny combining great complexity and harmony. This is the master blenders quest for perfection, capturing the perfect balance between young and aged port wines being matured for over 20 years in seasoned oak casks that contain 543 litres of port, only being released once they have reached perfection.

Simply wonderful aged tawny port from the masters of the style, Graham's. Aromas of coffee, caramel and mulberry dominate the nose and there is a lovely ruby colour in the centre of the tawny, showing that it is young and fruity. Great dessert wine.

Miopasso
Made from the native Sicilian grape Nero d'Avola around 30% of which are 'Passito' (ie dried virtually to raisins before pressing) this is lush, juicy and very moreish with a hint of bitter chocolate and sweet black cherry character.

Adi Badenhorst
Fairly simple cherry and redcurrant aromas lead to blackcurrants and plums in the mouth, with refreshing acidity and a line of bitterness on the back palate. The grapes were whole-bunch pressed, which perhaps adds that greeness underneath the ripe fruit. A more structured, tannic wine than initially expected, but with lovely fruit - delicious wine.

Allegrini
Long-standing single-vineyard classic from the outstanding Allegrini family. I've always loved this wine. Somewhat like a 'deployable' version of Amarone, but so much more interesting than most Ripasso. Plays a sexy line between juicy silky, lush and chewy tannin and oak. Intriguing notes of blossom and ripe citrus fruits.

Domaine Danjou-Banessy
Natural, biodynamic and vegan. Grenache, Carignan and now (for the first time) Mourvedre from 80 year old vines, Made without filtering or fining. Pale but gorgeous mid red colour. At first on the nose, you are like "What even is that?". Whatever it is, you know that you like it. Elegant, subtle fruit is intermixed with gentle herb, earth and savoury charachters. Deep and wonderful. On the palate the wine is elegant and deep again, but not heavy in the slightest. Ruffled fruit and savoury notes with minerality and real finesse. These wines are like no other from the Roussillon. Outstanding. This is the magnum.

Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Macabeu from a beautiful vineyard in Calce, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels. Floral, racy and minerally with soft texture and generous apple and apricot fruit. Just lovely. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon Andy Cooks Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincents philosophy is a minimum of intervention To keep the fruit and the terroir. The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers.

Domaine Danjou-Banessy
Old vine Grenache grown on decomposed black schist with a limestone sub soil, that produces something amazing. Ethereal, sublime and surprisingly fesh, this achieves a level of finesse akin to fine red Burgundy. Remarkable, special, very good indeed. JancisRobinson.com 17.5/20: "Very pale. Very spicy. And very very perfumed. There is an old red rose called Mister Lincoln. It has the deep, velvet, classic perfume of a red rose. This wine smells like Mister Lincoln dusted in cardamom. It tastes of wild cherry, white pepper, pink peppercorns, Szechuan pepper, truffle and, more than anything else, rain on warm slate. Petrichor. Complex, yet almost exquisitely simple. No noise. No posturing. In one sip, youre in this wild, beautiful vineyard, nothing but the sound of the wind through trees. Pure, transparent, yet so layered-upon-layered that you can read a thousand stories in one sip. A haiku of a wine. (TC)" 18/20 La Revue du Vins de France "There is a particular grace to this old vine Grenache grown on limestone, vinified (or rather infused) as a whole harvest, with ethereal and exciting florality, which contrasts without clashiing with a tight, deep frame, but also very delicate."

Adi Badenhorst
The Rosé 2020 is a silky-smooth wine crafted from Swartland Cinsault by the legendary Adi Badenhorst. A crisp combo of wild strawberry, plum sorbet, tangy redcurrants, mint leaf and sea spray will have you wanting to stock up for summer. We love cans. Theres no corkscrew needed, no pressure to finish a whole bottle, no chance of finding it corked, and being lighter and easier to recycle, its much better for the environment. Theyre also perfect for a weekday treat, a picnic in the park, or adding a splash to dinner while leaving enough for a glass for yourself. "Canned wine has gone seriously next-level". Warre's
Warres was alone for many years in continuing to make LBV in the same way as it had been made for generations; bottled without any fining or filtration after some 4 years of ageing in cask. This Port is then matured in bottle for at least another 4 years. This prolonged bottle ageing is crucial to the development of the superb nose and flavour which lend this Port a style and complexity very much akin to that of Vintage Port. Warres LBV is generally acknowledged to be the finest of its type. Food pairing suggestion: This wine is superb with cheese, nuts and dried fruits after a meal.

Drappier
Such a classic of the rich Pinot-dominated style, Pint really is their thing, down in sunny Urville where they've been since 1808 - still a family-owned House. Often seen on the lists of smart restaurants; quite the food wine, quite superb. Jancisrobinson.com 17/20 "Rich, creamy aroma. Brioche and pear. Lovely stone-fruit character. On the palate, glorious baked-apple brioche and excellent acidity. Almost a little chewy... orange and apricot.." Decanter Part of The best non-vintage Champagnes to buy: "Described by Drappier as 'almost a blanc de noirs', this Pinot Noir-dominant wine sourced from the Côte des Bar is the house's calling card. 5% of the cuvée is matured in barrels for a year for added complexity and texture, and it's bottled unfiltered with a fairly low dosage of 7g/l. There are some melon and apple scents on the nose along with a splash of red fruits, while the palate is intense, with notes of apple, quince and grape wrapped in a red-fruit veil. It's full-bodied and long, with a lovely texture from the red wine tannins and oak-matured portion."

2 btls each of Dom. des Soulanes Patchwork Rouge 2019 IGP Cotes Catalanes, Cert. Organic £12.99 Wonderful new cuvee from the brilliant Daniel and Cathy Laffite based in Tautavel. These guys have some of the most beautiful vineyards we have ever seen, and they are worked with utmost care and respect in an organic way. Glorious Grenache and Carignan deliver so much pleasure with beautiful fruit, great minerality and supple, savoury tannins. DELICIOUS. Negroamaro I Muri 2021 Vigneti del Salento £12.99 Negroamaro is the most important of Puglias native black grape vines. Its origins are uncertain, but may have arrived in Italy with Ilyrian traders even before the Greeks arrived in the 7th Century BC. Ancient vine grown in the ancient Taranto region - the inside of the heel. Inky dark, packed with plum and spice. Very natural winemaking, very lush endearing wine. Altolandon Mil Historias Bobal 2020 Manchuela, Cert. Organic £12.99 Bobal is Spain's second most widely planted red grape but is far less familiar to most wine lovers than the most widely planted, Tempranillo. This good-value, unoaked example is grown at high altitude on north- and south-facing slopes by the Altolandon estate, 90 minutes north of Valencia. Deeply coloured, it has some of the rusticity that is associated with the grape, with attractive, slightly spicy blue- and blackberry fruit. Fairly simple, with lightly grippy tannins and good acidity - try it with lamb chops. Contents and image may vary.
