Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2024 Cascina Vano
A beautiful Langhe Nebbiolo that is ‘Pinot-like’ in style from this most exciting of winegrowers in Neive, now headed up by brother and sister duo Beatrice and Marco Rivetti. We have followed Cascina Vano with such excitement and are very happy to be now adding them to our Piedmont portfolio.
The 2024 sees grapes from three different estate vineyards. Half of the blend is from a vineyard (located in the middle of a hazelnut grove) in Neviglie, a tiny village in Alta Langa at higher altitude (400-450m), and with a different microclimate than Neive (a lot more wind along with cooler temperatures). This site gives the wine its lifted, floral and fresh characters and fine acids.

Dom. Gayda La Petite Villa 2021 AOP Minervois La Liviniere,
A testament to the ancestral terroir of Minervois La Livinière. This blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache highlights the characteristics of the appellation and the biodiversity of the terroir. Whilst respecting tradition, it is also in tune with the times. ‘La Petite Villa’ starts us off on the road to ‘Villa Mon Rêve’.
On the nose, a bouquet of black fruit and spices reveals notes of black cherry, blackberry and clove. This initial nose is supported by fresh aromas of peppermint and sweet cocoa bean notes.
On the palate, a fine structure emerges with a supple, intense attack, offering a pleasant velvety texture and a spicy finish with young but promising tannins. Aromas of black fruit, garrigue, cocoa, pink pepper and fresh tobacco unfold fully, offering a rich, complex taste experience.
Week of 21 September
Moorooduc Pinot Gris 2014 Mornington Peninsula
Kate McIntyre is the queen of Mornington, consistently turning out the most critically acclaimed wines from this famous area near Melbourne.
Pale gold in colour with a lovely fragrant nose of yellow pear, chamomile, elderflower, blossom and a touch of honey. On the palate the pear and quince fruit characters are rich and mouth filling with lovely textural phenolics.
The wine is long and full flavoured with a tangy seaspray saltiness on the finish.
A great match to a warm goats cheese salad, with a touch of quince jelly.
