At first the wine feels like silk and then it slides across your tongue and turns to almond-skin texture. There is a (dry) bronzed richness yet the wine feels like rolling bleached bones and bleached beach stones in the mouth. Deeply fissured by long, pearl-white bitter streaks. The ghosts of yeasts leave an umami, bready sense of flavour on the finish, as if they are still whispering to their lees. A dramatic, singular, beautiful wine which will be wonderful with red meat, slow-cooked bean-rich stews and mushrooms. I'd have thought it would be twice the price. GV (TC)"

Francois Xavier AKA 'FX' worked with Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa for five years. He spent a further year with Domaine Danjou-Banessy. After such time this local lad set up in Espira to make his own wholly exciting wines which we are introducing the UK for the first time.

The deepest, and juiciest of FX’s white wines. This cuvee comes from an absolutely beautiful schist vineyard planted 80 years ago. Like many ancient Roussillon vineyards it is co-planted with Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir and Macabeu. Back in the day farmers would plant in such a way to hedge their bets that they would at least have some grapes at harvest time. The grapes were picked by hand then crushed, pressed and fermentation took place in cuve. It was then aged in cuve for 8 months. 2g/hl sulphites added prior to bottling.

Delivery

You can choose to have your order delivered or arrange click and collect in store (more info below). Delivery is FREE on orders of £60 or more (Cambridge and surrounds) and £120 or more (UK wide) to a single address in mainland Great Britain.

We normally aim for next day delivery as far as possible (Monday – Friday) on orders placed before midday. Orders placed in the afternoon will be processed the morning after, on a next day service. Orders placed from Friday midday until Sunday will be processed and made ready for dispatch the following Monday. This may take longer if stock needs to be collected from one more locations.

Customers should receive notification from our couriers by text when their order is en route.

Unfortunately, issues in the supply chain can mean longer than normal delivery times may be experienced.

When our drivers deliver any age-restricted products to the delivery address they may ask for proof of age. As a licence holder we have responsibility for the sale and supply of alcohol. One of our responsibilities is to ensure we do not sell age-restricted products online to people who are under the minimum legal age.

Delivery Instructions

Please use this section to instruct your driver on a specific place to leave the package(s) if the recipient is out, such as ‘If out leave with neighbour’. If you do not provide any instructions, Parcelforce will leave a card and your delivery will be delayed. If there is no-one over the age of 18 available to receive the local delivery, we will contact you to make arrangements.
