The small A-rated Madalena vineyard provides the principal component in "declared" Smith Woodhouse Vintage Ports. Pale and pretty.

This wine is a remarkable example of the Noval style. Treated exactly like a Vintage Port with only noble grape varieties from the Quinta, trodden by foot and unfiltered. Its main difference is that it is aged for five years in casks instead of the two years typical of Vintage Ports. Definitely an LBV with a difference, with fine structured tannins, great freshness and purity of fruit.

Amber in colour. Complex, full of herbs, spices, dried orange peel, maple syrup and almonds. Full-bodied and wonderfully refined by the ripening period, combines hints of marmalade, caramel and almond paste. An amazing find. This White Port has an incredible development as it has aged in wood; rich and creamy, silky smooth with a high quality milk chocolate character that just goes on and on. Imagine the best Belgian milk chocolate that you have ever had, combined with the rich fruitiness that you get from a Tawny Port and this is the result.

The Mol-B Vinho Branco Frisante is made from shows gentle, floral and fruity aromas, whilst the palate is soft with a sparkle and bright grapey fruit with a touch of fresh mango and citrus to the fresh, delightful finish. Excellent as an aperitif and also pairs well with fish, shellfish, salads and grilled vegetables.

Lively and very fruity aroma with vanilla notes. The flavour balances the aroma highlighting a strong structure framed by lightly toasted tannins.

Silky, elegant red with berried fruits, rich and complex palate and well integrated new oak. David Baverstock, the godfather of modern Portuguese wines, is the winemaker. Blend of Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon. 12 months in American (60%) and French (40%) oak barrels. After bottling, the wine aged 8 months in the bottle.

An intense ruby red colour. Vinous and clean aromas with hints of red berry fruits. Round in the mouth and medium bodied. A well-rounded finish with mellow tannin.

Forward apricot and orange blossom notes on a generous palate balanced by brisk acidity, with a marmalade finish and gentle spicing from french and US oak.

Another winner from indigenous varieties; Portugal's great vinous inheritance. Demonstrates the skill and style of Portuguese winemaking these days, and the value of their offering. No oak, no over-extraction, not nonsense, just a beautiful limpid, light, lifted, bracing white so light it has not sign of gold in the colour, if anything a slight green hue. Not wishy-washy, it has plenty of character, but neutral in a good way, like Switzerland.

A unique blend only made by Blandy’s, combining the islands Bual & Malmsey varietals, Blandy's 5 year old Reserva was aged in American oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' system. This comprises of the gentle heating of the wine in the lofts of the lodges in Funchal. Over the years the wine is transferred from the top floors to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine underwent racking and fining before the blend was assembled and bottled. Decanter 2020 Gold Medal winner
