Adi Badenhorst
Fairly simple cherry and redcurrant aromas lead to blackcurrants and plums in the mouth, with refreshing acidity and a line of bitterness on the back palate. The grapes were whole-bunch pressed, which perhaps adds that greeness underneath the ripe fruit. A more structured, tannic wine than initially expected, but with lovely fruit - delicious wine.

Adi Badenhorst
Adi Badenhorst has created three canned versions of his good-value, entry-level Curator wines, of which this is the pick. Aromas of juicy apricots, pineapples, bananas, nectarines and wild strawberry hints too. The palate is rich, intense and flavoursome with ripe stone and some tropical fruit, bound in a creamy mouthfeel, like a mouthful of peach yoghurt. A little jasmine freshness tickles the finish. "Canned wine has gone seriously next-level". Victoria Moore, The Telegraph

Compass Box
The Circle is based around a parcel of fruity and creamy single malt from the Tamdhu Distillery in Speyside. This is supported by malt whisky from the Clynelish Distillery. A touch of peated malt whisky from an Orkney distillery and a small proportion of a French oak-finished blended malt whisky complete the recipe. Rosey Mitchell is the 2018 winner of The Circle, a programme designed to inspire bartenders around the world. Rosey’s prize? To create a blend with Compass Box founder John Glaser and whiskymaker Jill Boyd. Rosey wanted to make an approachable whisky to be shared with friends, something for the daytime, a whisky with brightness. She called it 'sunshine in a glass.'

Proprieta Sperino
Spring 3 for 2 Sale
Wow this is delicious. Typical of high-altitude cooler northern Piedmont sites - Burgundian in style, even tawny, savoury, a little leathery. Lovely date/fig nose, evolved, beautifully resolved tannins. Jancis Robinson OBE MW "Pale ruby. Heady and hedonistic nose. A little dusty and tannic on the finish after a relatively light-bodied palate. This doesn’t just call for food – it needs it! Quite long." Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Croatina. This splendid 10 hectare hillside estate is situated in the small town of Lessona, near Biella in northern Piemonte. It passed into the De Marchi family (of top Chianti Classico estate Isole e Olena) through their relative, Felice Sperino, a passionate viticulturist and professor in Turin.

Blandy's
A unique blend only made by Blandy’s, combining the islands Bual & Malmsey varietals, Blandy's 5 year old Reserva was aged in American oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' system. This comprises of the gentle heating of the wine in the lofts of the lodges in Funchal. Over the years the wine is transferred from the top floors to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine underwent racking and fining before the blend was assembled and bottled. Decanter 2020 Gold Medal winner

A unique blend not made in Italy or anywhere else, 'Sposa' means spouse in Italian, making this wine a marriage made in Langhorne Creek from two delicious grape varieties. Yet another absolute ripper of a wine from the genius Ben Glaetzer. The opposite of understated - full-bore both barrels of everything. Spark up the barbie... Parker 92/100 "...a blend of Lagrein and Dolcetto and is a vivid purple in the glass. Dark, moody, distinct, pure in its dark way and spicy to boot. You get anise, licorice, peppercorns, layers of raspberry and blackberry and also blueberry, blood plum and fennel. It's a ripper. Dark and lusty... This was tasted blind as part of the "Value for Money" tasting in September 2023."

Domaine Alain Gras
Spring 3 for 2 Sale
Packed full of wild strawberry fruit with hints of raspberry, the palate adds a touch of spice to the sweet fruit and even a touch of coffee. This is a lovely approachable wine. Alain Gras is the reference point for St-Romain. This extremely steep village was considered part of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune until 1947. The vineyards are set back from the main Côte and mostly at higher elevation and have unquestionably improved in quality by the changes in climate and no longer struggle to reach full physiological maturity. The domaine covers 12 hectares with 8ha being planted with Chardonnay and 4ha to Pinot Noir. There are 42 separate parcels but Alain prefers to blend the grapes into one cuvée.

Chêne Bleu
Spring 3 for 2 Sale
The 2022 is an even more serious and dialled-back incarnation than usual; a crisp, racy but intense blend of 88% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 2% Grenache Blanc. Mourvèdre provides a salinity, which counteracts the juicy peach and red berry fruit of the Grenache beautifully; a light touch of smoke and herb atop some clear, fresh raspberry and strawberry characteristics, make for a wine of allure, vitality and grip. This exquisite Rosé makes a perfect summer aperitif, although it is also robust enough to partner a variety of summer fare.

A terrific 3 bottle selection of exceptional wines made by producers that have been rated as the best of the best by wine critics as well as ourselves! Champagne Pierre Bertrand 1er Cru Brut NV Dom. des Soulanes Vielles Vignes Blanc 2023 Cotes Catalanes Basket Range Estate Pinot Noir 2023 Adelaide Hills, Australia Champagne Pierre Bertrand 1er Cru Brut NV £32 came first in a Decanter tasting of over 100 Grower Champagnes in June 2018, with a score of 98 and an Exceptional rating. We have been importing it into the UK for 12 years and we always knew it was great, now some of the top wine critics agree with us, unanimously. A premium cuvee made exclusively from the premier cru villages of Cumieres and Hautvillers. These are warm sites, with south-facing vineyard s well-exposed to the sun, and for this cuvee Bertrand blends the three main Champagne grape varieties in equal proportions. It's aged for six years in the cellars before release, which is unusually long for a grower estate, and this long ageing on the lees contributes to the wine's complexity and finesse. Montee des Autrichiens Gamay VSIG 2023 Dom. Gerard 17.5/20 £22.99 Jancis Robinson 17.5/20 100% Gamay (planted in the mid 1980s and now grubbed up), from galet stone on red-brown clay soils at 350 m at Givors. 50% destemmed, 50% whole bunch, 15–16-day vinification, a little pumping over, then cap punching, aged in one- to six-year-old 228-litre casks for 12 months. Unfined. 2023 is the very last vintage produced of this unique Rhône take on Gamay. There is something unavoidably poignant about drinking wine made from a vineyard that no longer exists, from someone’s crazy idea of planting Gamay in the Rhône which then had to be grubbed up at the ripe old age of 40-odd for financial and logistical reasons. This is a sip of quirky history and for that alone it is to be savoured and treasured. But not for that alone. The wine is gorgeous. I’m not sure I would have guessed Gamay if I hadn’t known. Gamay with a Grenache accent? The fruit is bauble round and late-summer ripe. Rose hips, red plums, raspberry tea and freckled with pepper. Kicking can-can tannins doubling down on the pepper. A violet and a sprig of thyme tucked into the envelope before posting. It’s fluvial with elegance. Oh, this really is a wine to lay your hands on before it’s all gone. (TC) Basket Range Wine Estate Pinot Noir 2023 Adelaide Hills £29.99 17/20 jancisrobinson.com "Pinot clones MV6 and 777 from a cooler south-facing site. Fermented in 2,000-litre vats with a small proportion of whole bunch. Maceration for approximately two to three weeks, with gentle pumpovers twice daily for cap management. Aged in French oak (25% new) for 10 months before blending. Violet-fragrant dark-berry fruit with sweet tang. A very gentle wine. Traces of oak that, like foraging for mushrooms, you only spot when you know what you’re looking for and once you’ve seen one, they all start popping up in the understory. Tannins that breathe in and out like a creature in deep, contented sleep. (TC)"

Fonseca
In the early 1950’s, the rising demand for Vintage ports led Fonseca to create a second vintage port under the ‘Guimaraens’ label. Blended from slightly less powerful components, Guimaraens Vintage Ports are made in years when the wines are more supple and early maturing though they are drawn from the same three estates. They differ only in that they are more approachable, ready to drink earlier and for their quality and rarity offer exceptional value. “Caramelised black cherry, liquorice, tea leaves. Pruny. A bite of grippy tannins.” IWC 2019 Silver

Dom. des Lampyres
Spring 3 for 2 Sale
This Chenin Noir is aromatic and floral with rosehip and hibiscus leading to sweet, ripe young strawberries. It's richer than the other Lampyres wines, and needs a bit of breathing/decanting time to show its full wares. Nice tension and with a fresh, gently peppery finish. Serve cool. Outstanding from the superb talent that is 'FX'.
