Kloovenburg
Classy Cotes-du-Rhone style blend from family vineyards in Swartland. This beauty was selected as Tim Atkin’s the best Budget Red for his South Africa Report 2025. All grapes are handpicked during the early morning hours. Natural fermentation takes place in open fermenters. Extraction is obtained by light pump overs twice a day. After fermentation is completed, the wine is left on the skins for another seven days and then pressed to neutral barrels. Malolactic fermentation is completed in the barrel. The wine is then racked from the lees and given a low dose of sulphur. The wine spends a total of 10 months in the barrel before it is bottled. "Wonderfully drinkable stuff from the talented Duncan Stuart, this is an eminently drinkable blend of 49% Grenache, 32% Syrah, 14% Garnacha Peluda and 5% Mourvèdre that's bottled with a screwcap for easy access. Juicy, tangy and lightly wooded, it's a Cape Côtes du Rhône, with bramble, strawberry and white pepper flavours and textured tannins." Tim Atkin

Savage
Duncan Savage matriculated at Rondebosch Boys High School in 1995. In 2016. Savage Wines was set up in the heart of Cape Town in Salt River. Vineyards for his wines are leased and grapes sourced from around the Western Cape, maritime in nature where possible. Granitic soil is the focus. "This blend of 76% Sauvignon Blanc and 24% Sémillon, matured in 20% new oak, offers a complex bouquet with beeswax, wild mint, and fennel. The Sémillon beautifully complements the Sauvignon Blanc, and the palate is well-balanced with acidity and impressive weight. The pretty, floral finish makes this a standout wine from the vintage". 93/100 Vinous Neil Martn

Lanzerac
Le Général is a suitably serious, even patrician blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 8% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot from the cooler Jonkershoek Valley. Framed by 40% new French oak, it has ample colour and concentration, damson, blueberry and blackcurrant fruit and a firm, brooding finish.

Adi Badenhorst
Fairly simple cherry and redcurrant aromas lead to blackcurrants and plums in the mouth, with refreshing acidity and a line of bitterness on the back palate. The grapes were whole-bunch pressed, which perhaps adds that greeness underneath the ripe fruit. A more structured, tannic wine than initially expected, but with lovely fruit - delicious wine.

Mullineux
Apple, melon, a drizzle of honey and something floral too. Gorgeously caramelised palate, giving an impression of sweetness. The fruit is really charming, ripe and tropical without any confection. Savoury finish with a long, lightly smoky aftertaste. South Africa at its best.

Vilafonté
Named in honour of the ancient vilafonté soils that make up the estate at 1.5m years old, one of the oldest documented soil types in the world where the vines for this wine have been growing for almost two decades. A Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Just 330 barrels produced of this stunning wine. Layers of fresh plum, black cherry, baking spice and vanilla pod. Lovely mineral notes with a lingering finish. A line of acidity giving real tension to the whole wine.

Adi Badenhorst
Adi Badenhorst has created three canned versions of his good-value, entry-level Curator wines, of which this is the pick. Aromas of juicy apricots, pineapples, bananas, nectarines and wild strawberry hints too. The palate is rich, intense and flavoursome with ripe stone and some tropical fruit, bound in a creamy mouthfeel, like a mouthful of peach yoghurt. A little jasmine freshness tickles the finish. "Canned wine has gone seriously next-level". Victoria Moore, The Telegraph

Larry Cherubino
Produced from a blend of Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Gris this is a kaleidoscope of exotic flavours. Passionfruit, lime, bay leaf, pear, Turkish delight, lychee and rosewater. Interestingly complex yet refined, softly textured but refreshingly minerally on the finish. A wonderful aperitif, however would equally be lovely when enjoyed with lightly spiced Asian cuisine or herby chicken/vegetable dishes.

Basket Range
From Sholto Broderick at Basket Range Wines: This wine is the evolution of the style my father made using the same fruit; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. These vines were planted first in the early 1980s and at our new adjacent vineyard in 2001. Growing these varieties and making them into wine, I see the quality of the site and concentration of the fruit. Each block sits at a northern facing aspect on loamy clay over sandstone. The wine shows ripeness of tannin, structure and balance, while having energy and elegance. A reflection of an excellent site for these varieties. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon predominant blend (75%) with Merlot (19%) and Petit Verdot (6%). Each component was fermented in 2000L vats and matured in French barriques for 10 months. The 2022 Estate Cabernet is a pretty special wine for me. The 2021 Estate Cabernet was awarded the "Best Cabernet Trophy" at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show in 2022. I feel the 2022 vintage release is the best job of it I have made so far. Only 230 dozen produced. From Mike Bennie in The Wine Front: "From the Basket Range, of course, and a blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot, 6% petit verdot. Sholto Broderick guides the process here, a young fella with a lot of clever stuff going on in his head, and a steady hand on the idea of legacy for the family estate. This feels like a very mature human made it. So even, so precise, so balanced, so serious yet so drinkable. Succulent texture, a freshness in the mix, dark cherry, faint mocha, liquorice, clove, blonde tobacco, alpine amaro characters in bouquet and palate. A web of emery board tannin shapes things nicely, the persistence is notable with graphite and crushed rock minerality finishing things in the distance, with a lick of clove spice there too. So wonderfully poised and offers concentration yet lift throughout. It’s decidedly serious. It’s fabulous". 94/100 The Wine Front

Proprieta Sperino
Spring 3 for 2 Sale
Wow this is delicious. Typical of high-altitude cooler northern Piedmont sites - Burgundian in style, even tawny, savoury, a little leathery. Lovely date/fig nose, evolved, beautifully resolved tannins. Jancis Robinson OBE MW "Pale ruby. Heady and hedonistic nose. A little dusty and tannic on the finish after a relatively light-bodied palate. This doesn’t just call for food – it needs it! Quite long." Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Croatina. This splendid 10 hectare hillside estate is situated in the small town of Lessona, near Biella in northern Piemonte. It passed into the De Marchi family (of top Chianti Classico estate Isole e Olena) through their relative, Felice Sperino, a passionate viticulturist and professor in Turin.

A delicious blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Cinsault produced from mostly mountain sloped, rain-fed bush vines, grown on a variety of granite soils and naturally low yielding. Perfumed on the nose with pepper, spice and ripe red fruit character. Supple and smooth on the palate with enough grip and freshness to finish dry and refreshing.

Vina Maquis
92 Points James Suckling, 92 Points Robert Parker Maquis Lien is a hand-crafted blend, resulting in a distinctive wine that reflects the special plot of land the Hurtado family owns in the Colchauga Valley in Chile. The vineyards and winery are located at the confluence of two historic rivers, which brought down sediments from the Andes that established the vineyard's alluvial soils. The same river canyons channel cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, contributing to the wine's rich fruit character. The nose is very harmonious and the varieties feel very integrated; the Carménère does not dominate the aromas and is nicely blended with the others. There is an extra spark of freshness here along with more restraint and seriousness. A red blend of finesse.

Ridge Vineyards
The core blend of Monte Bello 2022 was assembled by the production team over two days in February. Out of twenty-six candidate lots, fourteen were selected at this stage, with a few earmarked as potential additions at the next blending session. The team reconvened on May 3rd for the second and final assemblage of 2022 Monte Bello. The panel of eight determined that, of the three further lots being presented, just one had the qualities consistent with Monte Bello. The addition of this lot will result in a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The typically intense dark purple colour of a young Monte Bello belies the vivid aromatics: the nose opens with a wonderful floral aroma over the precise berry fruit. There is copious structure, but it is very fine-grained even at this early stage. Splendid balance and harmony already, with an ultra-long finish indicating the great potential of this wine.

Basket Range
A new cuvée here from Basket Range - a juicy, fruity, delicious chillable red blend. From Sholto Broderick at Basket Range Wines: This wine is comprised predominately of Merlot and Petit Verdot from our vineyard. These were macerated with the use of whole bunches and with gentle handling, which gives lifted fruit and a spice from the stalks. The components were then blended with small amount of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This makes for a red wine with gentle tannin and a lifted mid-palate. The Bantam is a dynamic wine that showcases juicy soft plums, white pepper, and graphitic tannin, with a savoury, highly drinkable quality. Designed for earlier drinking, it's best served cooler, at about 12c.

Champagne Joseph Perrier
This champagne has a special place in the history of the House. It is from a family plot of Pinot Noir in Cumières that this precious red wine comes, giving our blend an unique personality. First you will find red fruits, with wild violet and liqourice notes to follow. Ripe yet racy, with beautiful length. Fine and full on the palate, with a touch of mint on the finish.

Blandy's
A unique blend only made by Blandy’s, combining the islands Bual & Malmsey varietals, Blandy's 5 year old Reserva was aged in American oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' system. This comprises of the gentle heating of the wine in the lofts of the lodges in Funchal. Over the years the wine is transferred from the top floors to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine underwent racking and fining before the blend was assembled and bottled. Decanter 2020 Gold Medal winner

Louis Roederer
The bouquet is open and rich yet also wonderfully fresh. It offers an explosion of ripe, delicate fruit with intense notes of mirabelle plum from the Pinot noir, complemented by sweet lemon meringue pie and delicate notes of jasmine from the Chardonnay. The nose opens up to reveal autolytic characters and evolves towards smoky, roasted notes and freshly baked pastries. The palate is deep and dense with a big, well-structured backbone. The texture is simply mesmerising with its fleshy mouthfeel from the Pinot Noir that coats the palate before giving way to an incredible saline freshness with a pleasant hint of bitterness. This wine combines the strength, intensity and power of the delectably ripe Pinot Noirs which are balanced to perfection by the chalky freshness and density from the Chardonnay which forms the majority of the blend. This 244th blend from the Louis Roederer Champagne House is based on the finest successes of the 2019 harvest, a year of record-breaking temperatures brought by particularly intense heat waves. Dry and continental and of magnificent maturity, this year gave us wines that were dense and fresh, with a masterful balance, conducive to bringing out the powerful and luscious Collection character in the blend.

The 2021 Rubicon displays a deep, youthful color with an intense, almost purple hue. A unique blend not made in Italy or anywhere else, 'Sposa' means spouse in Italian, making this wine a marriage made in Langhorne Creek from two delicious grape varieties. Yet another absolute ripper of a wine from the genius Ben Glaetzer. The opposite of understated - full-bore both barrels of everything. Spark up the barbie... Parker 92/100 "...a blend of Lagrein and Dolcetto and is a vivid purple in the glass. Dark, moody, distinct, pure in its dark way and spicy to boot. You get anise, licorice, peppercorns, layers of raspberry and blackberry and also blueberry, blood plum and fennel. It's a ripper. Dark and lusty... This was tasted blind as part of the "Value for Money" tasting in September 2023."

Cascina Vano
A beautiful Langhe Nebbiolo that is 'Pinot-like' in style from this most exciting of winegrowers in Neive, now headed up by brother and sister duo Beatrice and Marco Rivetti. We have followed Cascina Vano with such excitement and are very happy to be now adding them to our Piedmont portfolio. The 2024 sees grapes from three different estate vineyards. Half of the blend is from a vineyard (located in the middle of a hazelnut grove) in Neviglie, a tiny village in Alta Langa at higher altitude (400-450m), and with a different microclimate than Neive (a lot more wind along with cooler temperatures). This site gives the wine its lifted, floral and fresh characters and fine acids. 30% of the blend comes from younger vines in the Rivetti MGA, where there is solid compact red clay together with the Sant'Agata marls, these provide characterful structure and tannins in the wine. Finally, 20% from a vineyard in the Basarin MGA. A young vineyard of six years that is beautifully exposed over Rabaja MGA. Here we have a sandy red soil of laminated marls. This site brings a lot of pure, juicy, fruity notes - beautiful cherry and wild strawberry. The blend of the above three sites all adds up to a vibrant, brilliant and true take on Langhe Nebbiolo. Simply amazing aromatics - sweet and pure red fruit, but floral - rosehip and violet and old school dustiness. The palate is SO full of tart red berries - crunchy, crunchy cherry, and a hint of blood orange. A clean, savoury minerality and a touch of earthiness/goodness. So drinkable, but so spiky with amazing acid/tannin intensity whilst remaining drinkable, complex and so, so lovely. Again, a beautiful style of Langhe Nebbiolo that is simply so right for this spring and summer.

Blending fruit from estate vineyards and top Napa Valley growers, this wine embodies the complexity of the valley, while offering a seamless balance between fruit, oak and tannins. When you order wines En Primeur you buy wines that are as yet not available for physical delivery but are available for purchase. They are sold without Excise and VAT taxes and an invoice is issued soon after order, for payment. Excise and VAT may become payable when the wine physically arrives in the UK. When a wine arrives in the UK is a matter of when it becomes available from the producer and when we are able to import it. Normally wines will be shipped 2-3 years after harvest, but it can take longer or less than that. When the wines are shipped to the UK they can either be transferred, under bond, to an account in a Bonded warehouse or delivered Sold En-Primeur. Domaine Alain Gras
Blended from various terroirs of the appellation across just over 3 hectares, the 2022 White Saint-Romain Les Cinq Climats is a pure delight of mastery and indulgence. It's an evocative white wine, with notes of ripe fruits complemented by a slightly exotic touch, draped in beautiful freshness and, most notably, a generous mouthfeel. Its rich and opulent character makes it simply irresistible. Alain Gras is the reference point for St-Romain. This extremely steep village was considered part of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune until 1947. The vineyards are set back from the main Côte and mostly at higher elevation and have unquestionably improved in quality by the changes in climate and no longer struggle to reach full physiological maturity. The domaine covers 12 hectares with 8ha being planted with Chardonnay and 4ha to Pinot Noir. There are 42 separate parcels but Alain prefers to blend the grapes into one cuvée.

Vondeling Wines
The Vondeling Babiana is predominantly made from old chenin blanc vines planted in 1986. Their age and low yield ensure consistent quality and concentration, which is why it forms the backbone of this blend. The fullness of the Chenin Blanc is tempered by the verve and high aromatics of the Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Roussanne. Platter's 2021 South African Wine Guide, 5 stars - Regular quartet, chenin with viognier, roussanne & grenache blanc, difference lies in vintage variation. Glorious 2019 symphonic assembly of honeyed spice fragrance, weighty silk texture, the layered complexity gaining futher depth from fine acid line. Bodega Tapiz
Intense red colour. Aromas reminiscent of red fruits, blackberries, cassis and dried plums with a delicate hint of vanilla, coffee and chocolate, well integrated. On the palate it is intense but gentle, with ripe sweet tannins. Long finish. The deep red colour anticipates the aromatic intensity of this wine that is full of aromas and flavours of blackberries, raspberries and dried plums, as well as notes of spices and cassis. Its passage through oak provides well integrated notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. The tannins are ripe and friendly and well integrated into the exquisite wine. A lovely aged Argentinian red, beautifully smooth and complex. To produce this wine, the winemaker select every year the best 80 barrels in the winery , we have around 2000, and blend them, that wine spent around 12 month in the barrel as a single varietal, after the blending, wine goes back to barrel for 6six or more months. As in the winery the majority of varietals are Malbec, Cabernet and Merlot, then the proportion of these varieties is always higher in the wine.
