This Brut Rosé is made almost exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes from the Montagne de Reims region, and from Premiers Crus and Grands Crus. Just 10% of Chardonnay from the Cotes des Blancs rounds out the blend. Seriously fruity.

A blend of Genache Blanc, Gris and Noir, from ancient 90 year old vines, this is beautiful, racy, elegant wine that is softly textured and very ‘modern’ in its freshness and balance.

This is the most grown up Cornish Point yet. It has all the classic components (vibrantly fruited, voluptuous and rounded mouthfeel...), but with a structural complexity we have rarely seen before. Indulgent but serious tannins demand a thoughtful conversation in this 15th rendition. Baritones and altos all in harmony leading to a crescendo of a finish.

Ch Coutet is a wonderful dessert wine producer, where the sweetness and acidity are in perfect balance, allowing the wine to age as well as offer instnat pleasure. A very classy wine to complete the perfect dinner.

Old vine Grenache grown on decomposed black schist with a limestone sub soil with some quartz, that produces something amazing. Ethereal, sublime and fesh, this achieves a level of finesse akin to fine red Burgundy. Remarkable, special, very good indeed.

90-92/100 Wine Advocate "Dominique and Florence Decoster, owners of Fleur Cardinale, acquired this 4.5-hectare vineyard in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse adjacent to their own in April 2012. Not surprisingly, the soils are quite similar, composed of clay and limestone. The average age of the vines was 37 years in 2018. Yields were 40 hectoliters per hectare. Aging is projected to run for 12-14 months in 100% new French oak barrels. The blend is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, and the wine has 14.5% alcohol. From the Thibaud lieu-dit, the 2018 Croix Cardinale is deep garnet-purple colored and sings of crushed red and black cherries, wild blueberries and fragrant earth with wafts of garrigue and lavender. Medium to full-bodied, soft, lively and juicy in the mouth, it delivers great purity and poise."

South Africa’s celebrated Gottfried Mocke made legendary chardonnay in his time at Cape Chamoix. He now makes this wine at the famous Boekenhoutskloof estate using superb-quality fruit sourced from near neighbours. The result is a classic example of cool-climate chardonnay, refined and with an uplifting saline note while still maintaining a generous texture on the palate. Cap Maritime sits perched on top of a ridge separating the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde appellation from the Valley, one of the most exciting places to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in South Africa. The wine shows layers of green apple and citrus fruits. Judicious use of French oak seamlessly brings together aromas and palate with a gentle spice that makes this an utterly moreish Chardonnay.

A seductive combination of white nectarine, pink grapefruit and candied orange rind mingles with the more savoury aromas of roasted chestnuts and hot buttered brioche – an elaborate concoction infused with linseed and woodsmoke. The savouriness carries through onto a wonderfully dry palate that has great texture and concentration, with distinct flintiness, tight structure and terrific ageing potential.

A complex wine with fresh acidity, brown spices, nuts and citrus peel, and an extraordinarily long finish. Serve chilled as an aperitif, with seafood or smoked fish. Madeira should be cellared upright. It loves light, heat and air, but hates frost.

This 20ha estate has been owned since 1994 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, who also own Château Smith Haut Lafitte and are making some of the most exciting, perfectly honed wines in Bordeaux. Their top wines ell north of £80 a bottle so this wine appears relatively good value, particulalry since it came out top at a recent Decanter tasting of Red Graves from 2016. Bravo. Planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, on mostly gravel soils with some clay. Grapes are handpicked and sorted twice, whole-berry fermented in large oak vats before ageing 14 months in 25% new French oak barrels. This is intense, fruity and a real joy to drink now or keep for another 10 years.

This Claret is fresh and balanced. The blend is Merlot-based and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, giving a nice aroma of spice and wood smoke. The palate is fleshy with a hint of plum, the tannins fine and firm, leading to a generous finish. Drink now to 2036

Smudged charcoal runs into raspberry, underbrush and mandarin orange peel that speaks of Tuscan sun. Excellent quality, good persistency in the glass as it stretches out through the palate. This vibrant Pinot Noir embodies its cool-climate roots with enticing aromas of wild strawberry, Bing cherry and plum, as well as subtle undertones of dried herb, forest floor, sweet vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the lush red berry flavours are framed by smooth, refined tannins and a silky texture, with a tantalizing hint of bright acidity lingering on the long, focused finish.

Remarkable, beguiling, hard to benchmark such a top end Fiano. Certainly one of the best if not the very best Fiano, indeed one of the top few whites in Southern Italy and Islands! Greengage, honeysuckle, a hint of dry vermouth - amazing richness with little oak. Fiano is super-ancient, from Campania, clearly suited to Menfi in western Sicily as here. Parker 94 "an icon wine of Sicily and deservedly so. Fiano is simply radiant and lusciously rich in this medium-bodied expression. The 2019 vintage shaped nicely concentrated and flavorful fruit of apricot, honey and baked pear. Only 10% of the wine sees oak, but that's more than enough to render the extra depth and soft textural richness that puts this wine a cut above the other more one-dimensional interpretations of this indigenous Italian grape."

Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château de Fargues has a rich and intense bouquet with layers of honey, dried peach, beeswax and acacia that soar from the glass. The palate is powerful and authoritative: intense botrytis-rich honeyed fruit with compelling mineralité underneath. It fans out in glorious fashion – a stunning de Fargues that is now beginning to show its talents. As I remarked a couple of years ago, just afford it a couple more years so that it can fully absorb the vestiges of oak. Drink 2018-2045. 95 pts Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (219), June 2015

This Amontillado Muy Viejo has more than 30 years of ageing in oak barrels giving it an intense concentration and complexity. Dry in taste with hints of cedar, leather, walnuts and a lingering, nutty finish. It is a great partner for roast beef, hearty casseroles, game or mature Cheddar cheese. “Aromatic and intoxicating, offering toasted almonds, caramel, dried figs and coffee bean. Dense and rich yet tight and precise. Extraordinary.” IWC 2019 Gold

Leaner, more austere on the nose. Very lively on the palate, almost sweet caramelised edge, high acid, good brightness. Very ripe, round, and unctuous. Vanillin finish. Tarte tatin. A bit much at the moment. Puppy fat. Lovely length though. Still plenty of opportunity.

Mineral, saline aromas. Quite spicy. A little bit tropical, guava, passionfruit. Melon fruit, juicy, vibrant. Totally different. Very juicy. Textural. Plump but not fat. Bigger boned.

This is from just over 1.5 hectares planted in the late 1960s and early ’70s. Bessin’s Forêt vines aren’t far from his Montmains but the wine displays a very different character. There’s some smoky reduction on the nose, with restrained salinity and some delicate citrus fruits underneath. Intense and pure, this is a picture of restraint.

A new cuvée for 2020 from our favourite Champagne House, and created by new MD Benjamin Fourmon who says, 'from the start I set out to create an extra-pure, sugar-free and very expressive champagne. We chose the exceptionally fresh 2013 vintage and aged it for 72 months to produce roundness, power and perfect balance. 35% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Meunier. Reserve wines constitute 24% of the blend, Dosage 0 g/l. Disgorged '2020'.

This wine is available to order En Primeur. When you order wines En Primeur you buy wines that are as yet not available for physical delivery but are available for purchase. Intense nose of real concentration. Vibrant and jewelly – like essence of Central Otago but with a drier finish than many. Still very youthful and savoury. Great stuff! 2020 Vintage Jancis Robinson MW
