Another perennial favourite, this is an old vine Syrah-dominated cuvee that comes from vines around the village of Roaix, which is northeast of Gigondas. Its vibrant ruby color is followed by terrific notes of blueberries, blackberries, pepper and resinous herbs, and it has a kiss of vanilla that will be completely integrated by the time this sees the inside of a bottle. This is a medium to full-bodied, ultra-pure beauty.

From one of the great Pinot vineyards of the world. The wine has a nose of perfumed red and black cherries, star anise and earth. The palate is silky and expansive with nuanced, spice-laced berry flavor layers energized by lip-smacking acidity, with a long finish. A very pale rose gold colour from free-run juice with no skin contact. Its Pinot Noir origin is apparent from the wild strawberry that leads the nose and contributes to a broad and textural palate. Red berries sit amongst a background of crushed almond from the slow indigenous primary and malolactic fermentations. Surprisingly complex, yet delightfully approachable and lingering. Remi Jeanniard’s neighbours say that he and his wife are always in the vineyards; even on 2nd January, they were seen out pruning the vines. Remi has just over 7 hectares of vines in and around Morey-St-Denis. The vines are much older than average, with all of his Vieilles Vignes village bottlings being at least 50 years old. This gives a natural concentration to the wines which are both well structured and elegant. Dried fruits, figs, cherries, currants, and violets. Exciting. Less plush than the jeunes vignes, but more vibrant and intense. Supple tannins.

100% Sangiovese grown in E Jamu's finest vineyards in Valdarno Di Sopra DOC. In this debut vintage there are just over 1,000 bottles produced from organic (and certified) farming. After manually picking the top selection of grapes they are destemmed and softly crushed. The fermentation begins (and ends) with only natural yeasts helped along by a gentle daily pump over. After fermentation the juice is in contact with the skins for 15 days in cement vats before being run off to fine, older tonneau to rest for 18 months. The colour is a gorgeous, bright ruby. The nose shows ripe red fruits, black cherries, fine and elegant floral character with gentle notes of black pepper, chocolate and vanilla. Fine and elegant again on the palate - beautiful soft red fruits with gorgeously judged tannins. An elegant expression of Sangiovese with real finesse. The legendary and completely wonderful Giampaolo Chiettini helps the young (very young!) Rocco (23!) and his sister Meca (24!) on their beautiful estate in DOC Valdarno di Sopra. A very exciting young estate to watch.

Vibrant, brick red leading slightly towards amber. Light fresh texture with notes of vanilla and dried berry, undergrowth, polished wood, dried fruitsand nuts. Scented with age and red-fruit and old-oak sweetness. Rich, very dry, smooth, developed. Firm tannins and good balance.

Max Von Kunow represents a new generation ? and an exhilarating new force in Germany’s Saar region. Expect delicate floral notes with hints of blackcurrant and lovely freshness and with the concentration of this fine vintage.

Outstanding Vin Santo produced from half Trebbiano and half Malvasia trained to guyot and grown organically in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Argiano at an altitude of 300m. The grapes were hand-picked on September 20th 2017 and were placed on bamboo racks to dry for four months until they were gently pressed the following January and run off to ferment and breed on 110l 'Caratelli' barrels for the next five years. The wine was bottled in Febuary 2023. Only 436 37.5cl bottles were produced in total. The wine came out at 13.5 % abv with a residual sugar level of 290 g/l and a total acidity of 6.3 g/l. You know you are on to something special when Monica Larner of erobertparker.com writes of the wine "This is an extremely precious production of just 400 bottles (tiny 375-milliliter bottles), and I am honored to review this wine....an excellent and precious Vin Santo del Chianti Classico". We feel very honoured to have 60 of these truly wonderful little bottles to share with you.

This wine is named after Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song". What further example of winemaker Giampaolo Chiettini's genius do you need? Immigrant Wine is a brilliant, curious Tuscan white IGT wine produced from Müller Thurgau grapes grown organically in a vineyard in the Vicchio di Mugello area at 370 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested in the second half of September which then see fermentation with their indigenous yeasts. A short breeding in steel vat on fine lees follows until the wine is bottled in the spring following the harvest. The wine is precise with good energy and a nice volume. Showing nice floral tones, some elderflower and herbal qualities wrapped up with a nice green apple bite. We have half of the 480 bottle total production.

Intense, concentrated bouquet of yellow fruit (white peach, mirabelle plum) combined with a delicious concentrated toastiness in the form of roasted hazelnut and almond aromas. Almond, wheat and sweet pollen notes from the Chardonnay with the juicy red fruit of the Pinot noir. Concentrated, energetic and vibrant on the palate with soft flavors of candied citrus and iodised spices. The salivating finish is underpinned by slightly oaky, sappy and saline notes. 2015 is remembered for its classic growth cycle. The particularly mild winter gave way to a varied spring with a period of freezing temperatures followed by intense heat. The vines reached full bloom at the usual times, during a sunny and dry month of June. It was a glorious summer with plenty of sunshine and little rain. The ripening of the Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays was given a boost at the end of August by some long-awaited rainfall. The crops were harvested in mid-September under the cool autumnal skies, giving rise to elegant, fresh and fruity wines, worthy of labelling as true “classics”.

The 2018 hits a new high for Palazzone's Brunello di Montalcino DOCG bottling. Piercing, pure, bright and energetic yet with real complexity even at this young stage. These guys are working so well. There has been some very impressive press for the 2018 also: On jancisrobinson.com Walter Speller wrote the below whilst awarding the wine 17.5/20 "Mid ruby with orange tinges. Firm, savoury and minerally nose with dark spice hints. Lively sour-cherry fruit on the palate and quite pure. Elegant, long, perfumed and juicy finish. Really fine and intriguing. Gorgeous". And in Decanter Magazine Michaela Morris included Palazzone's Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 in the "Top-value Brunello di Montalcino 2018: the 10 to buy" article published earlier in 2023. "This brings together fruit from cool northwest-facing plots, at 540 metres near the town of Montalcino, with warmer, lower-lying vineyards in the region’s southeast. The 2018 saw a slightly shorter maceration – just two weeks as opposed to three. Taking time to come into focus, the nose suggests attractive strawberry blossom, cinnamon and rosehip. The palate is lean and clear fruited with red currants and lots of mineral nuance packed in. The tannins are tightly wound and sinewy, giving texture and backbone, and the sappy acidity is positively scrumptious. Beautifully balanced in its proportions". 92/100 Vinous Media 93/100, October 2022 "....the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a menagerie of foreign spices, wild herbs and dried fruits. This is elegant and finessed, with vibrant acidity enlivening its tart wild berry fruits, and pretty inner rose tones that evolve toward the close. Nuances of licorice and sour cherry linger on, as the 2018 finishes light on structure but big on character. This is so enjoyable already that it’s hard to imagine waiting, but do make sure to cellar for at least a year or two for the full effect".

"The 2001 Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva is the follow-up of the 1995. There is a sense of harmony and elegance, of nuance and subtleness that wasn't quite the same in the Bosconia, as comparing both wines is inevitable. They started picking the red grapes the 15th of October, and the last grapes were picked the 29th of October with good weather. The grapes ripened properly and thoroughly, and the wine has great balance for a long aging in bottle. This is 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho and 5% each Graciano and Mazuelo that fermented in their 153-year-old oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in used barrels for 10 years. It has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 6.4 grams of acidity (tartaric). The nose shows young (tasting it blind, you'd guess a 10-year old wine, not a 20-year-old wine!). It has a nose of sweet spices, underbrush and cigar ash, somewhat balsamic, bramble fruit with perfect ripeness, integrated and young but starting to show some tertiary complexity. The palate is velvety and medium-bodied, with fine-grained, chalky tannins denoting a limestone soil that brings finesse and texture and a sapid, tasty, almost salty finish. A seductive combination of white nectarine, pink grapefruit and candied orange rind mingles with the more savoury aromas of roasted chestnuts and hot buttered brioche – an elaborate concoction infused with linseed and woodsmoke. The savouriness carries through onto a wonderfully dry palate that has great texture and concentration, with distinct flintiness, tight structure and terrific ageing potential.

To quote Allen Meadows; ‘the quality of these wines is nothing short of phenomenal compared to the usual quality of the respective appellations’. Claude Marechal makes his wines as naturally as possible, taking his inspiration from his late friend Henri Jayer who he trained with early in his career. In common with Jayer he makes wines above and beyond the expectations of his terroirs. His wines are pure and sleek with vibrant fruit and great potential to age. In the vineyard ripeness is the watchword and the vines are maintained in order to maximise phenolic maturity every vintage whatever the conditions. No chemical fertilisers are used and the harvest is hand picked each vintage, Claude says he is usually the last in each appellation to pick which shows on the ripe fruited nature of his wines. After harvest the bunches are sorted by hand and gently de-stemmed before vinification using natural yeasts. The fermenting must is pumped over twice daily and once alcoholic fermentation is finished the wines are placed into oak barrels where they mature for between 10 and 15 months. From tastings of back vintages at the domaine it is clear these are wines that are built to age well. Claude has not changed his prices for the 2021 vintage.
