Kumeu River
Leaner, more austere on the nose. Very lively on the palate, almost sweet caramelised edge, high acid, good brightness. Very ripe, round, and unctuous. Vanillin finish. Tarte tatin. A bit much at the moment. Puppy fat. Lovely length though. Still plenty of opportunity.

Miraval
The world super-star of Provence pink. Delicate, complex and pale. Rare and sought-after. Summer in a glass. This stunning 17th-century estate was bought by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in 2009. After many millions spent restoring the vineyards and winery this world-class, super-pale, delicate but intensely flavoured pink became an instant classic - rated by Wine Spectator as the best rosé in the world, with early vintages sold out on release. Winemaking is by our old chum the famed Marc Perrin – whose family owns the stellar Chateauneuf–du-Pape estate Beaucastel, which has famously practised organic farming since the 1950s.

Antinori
erobertparker.com 98/100 "This wine brought to mind precise imagery of tailcoats, striped dress pants, wingtip collar shirts and other gentlemen's fashion choices from the Roaring Twenties. Sporting a retro but classic personality, the Marchesi Antinori 2018 Tignanello is quite the dapper and jovial wine that hits the market just as much of the world is emerging from a dark chapter of lockdowns and coronavirus curfews. I love the optimism that springs bright with such clarity and detail from within this blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The 2016 vintage was a benchmark for sure, but I prefer the 2018, thanks to that tinge of nostalgia or emotion that is so deftly rendered in this cool, long growing season. The 2018 vintage offers a deconstructed Tignanello upon first inspection because you can clearly make out the varietal typicity of the grapes, especially the green spice and white pepper of the two Cabernets, along with aromas of crushed limestone that recall the white rocks carefully placed in the vineyards to protect the rows. The wine's fruit weight is contained and polished, and there are no exaggerations, excesses or loose ends. The results are calculated and exacting, especially if you consider the tannic management (with aging in both new and used Hungarian and French oak for up to 16 months) and the quality of the elegant mouthfeel. With time in the glass, those deconstructed elements converge to create unity and balance. The Tignanello vineyard is 57 hectares and sits at a breezy 390 meters above sea level with alberese and galestro soils. Those elevations proved important for shedding excess humidity at the end of this 2018 growing season"

Montaignan
This is our own labelled house wine and one of our best sellers. Typically juicy, with lots of delicious red fruits, a lick of oak adding some vanilla, and soft tannins at the finish. Every mouthful is so enjoyable.

An utterly divine blend of Semillon and Palomino at a silly, silly bin-end price. I'm told there shall be a jump in price in line with red with the next avaialbe vintage. But now, DO NOT MISS.

Certainly fresher than some previous vintages, this is immensely mouth-watering. Struck rock, clotted cream and orange blossom, just ripe greengage and honeydew melon, with a lightly creamy, leesy palate and zingy, white peppery finish. A proper treat from the master. "A fabulous bargain. Overdelivers in the most delightful way". Jancis Robinson MW

You pick up the delightful hints of cranberry, redcurrants and wild roses. A beautiful drink. Delicious with a vegetable tart, salad, bbq fish and chicken. While you don't want to overthink rose, this one is actually quite sophisticated, with its texture, quite a gastronomic example of rose and a good one for drinking in the cooler months. The elegance of the fruit and texture makes us think of a rather stylish white wine as it floats in the mouth, and then you get the delicious notes of cranberry cut in.

Partly skin contact, partly carbonic maceration, Adi previously used to blend these funkier components into the straight Secateurs, but in the last few vintages, they've chosen to bottle them alone to create Secateurs Riviera Adi highlights that whilst skin contact Chenin can sometimes be quite harsh, tannin dominant and linear, the carbonic maceration creates the most highly aromatic juice, loaded with luscious pineapple and tropical aromas. They layer whole bunches at the bottom of the tank, then destemmed, with the free run juice drawn off daily. A little cloudy in the glass, but no notes of anything too funky or unclean! Bruised peaches, effervescent vitamin c, rhubarb and custard sweets, earl grey tea and lemon barley water. Such fun! Chalky and long in the mouth, we can imagine it would be superb with crudo/ ceviche. Chalky and very long.

Domaine Gerard
Xavier Gerard is one of the most exciting young winemakers working in the Northern Rhône. He is a young grower who took over his family's small domaine in earnest in 2012 and in no time has turned out incredibly elegant and traditionally made Syrahs and Viogniers.

Domaine Gerard
100% Gamay (mid-1980s) from galet stone on red-brown clay soils at 350 metres at Givors, 50-100% destemmed, 15-16 day vinification, a little pumping over, then cap punching, aged 1-6 year 228-litre casks 12 months, unfined. A real charmer. Wine to enjoy with friends. Dark red, purple tints; has a strawberry jam aroma. This has a good, firm attack, holds dark red, mulberry fruit with life in it, and a late saline note. There’s crunch in the tannins (this is 50% whole bunch) and it’s very drinkable, shows a touch of late power, is good for la table. Its length sustains on red fruit, raspberry, is good and upbeat.

Domaine Gayda
The 2020 En passant sees an exciting new blend debuting after a few vintages of a similar blend. The 2020 is Muscat from altitude in the Roussillon on clay limestone and Roussanne from high in the Minervois grown on schist soil. The Muscat is bred in a mixture of stainless steel vat and clay amphiora and the Roussanne in stainless steel vat. Grapes from are pressed slowly in whole bunches - very gentle racking - vinificaton without sulphur, at low temperature - ageing on lees. And what a lovely wine it is - light and clean wine, of fresh apricot and peach with a floral and honeyed nose. A lovely, long length that leaves a mouthwatering shimmer that really charms. Bravo Vincent Chansault!

An opulent Champagne with the perfect balance of freshness and generosity, from the smallest and arguably the best of the Grande Marques. The Brut Réserve NV is a radiant pale gold colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is characterised by complex pastry aromas, with an opulent combination of ripe apricot, mango, greengages, dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The palate begins with a silky-smooth sensation, developing into ripe fleshy apricot, melon and enticing plum pastry notes and delicate spice. There is perfect balance of freshness and generosity.

Parker 91 "wafting from the glass with a pretty bouquet of citrus zest, elderflowers, green apple and very subtle autolytic top notes... pillowy, beautifully balanced, pinpoint mousse, ripe but racy acids and a nicely defined finish.” Jancis Robinson MW. 17.5 "Very frisky mousse! Sophisticated and, I have to admit, champagne-like nose. Lifted and long and very sophisticated. There are just SO many champagnes that are less impressive than this... intellectually stimulating. Wonderfully vibrant..."
