Meo-Camuzet
Bourgogne Cote d’Or is technically a new geographical denomination within the regional ‘Bourgogne’ appellation with the aim is to highlight the greater potential of the Côte d’Or, in the heart of Burgundy, to produce unique wines. Displaying excellent density for its level, this is substantial, with bright red berries and forest fruits alongside ripe, supple tannins. Méo-Camuzet is one of the undisputed star estates of Burgundy. Until 1988 most of the domaine's holdings were leased out to other vignerons and amazingly most of the wine was sold off to négociants in bulk. Today, it is a very different story. Meo Camuzet now has over 2.5 hectares of grands Crus and 8 hectares of some of the finest Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are farmed organically, but not every aspect of all vineyards: one or two which are difficult for tractor access may still see an occasional herbicide or anti-rot treatment. Jean-Nicolas Méo and Christian Faurois now run the Domaine and together they produce some of the very best wine in the Côte d'Or. Meo Camuzet produces full-bodied, firm, rich, oaky, concentrated wines, which no serious Burgundy drinker should overlook.

Crystallum
The signature aromatics of wild strawberry, black cherry and sweet Indian spices are all in place as well as pomegranate, red plum and cocoa. A tense and structured palate speaks to the 60% whole bunches used in fermentation, with the tannins showing a pine-like freshness. With a generosity of fruit and a particularly upright focus this wine will age into 2035. Once a location for a film based on the life of Napoleon, the 'Cuvée Cinema' vineyard produces intense, age worthy Pinot Noir from Dijon clones, with aromas of sour cherry, musk, forest floor and flint.

Dom. des Lampyres
This Chenin Noir is aromatic and floral with rosehip and hibiscus leading to sweet, ripe young strawberries. It's richer than the other Lampyres wines, and needs a bit of breathing/decanting time to show its full wares. Nice tension and with a fresh, gently peppery finish. Serve cool. Outstanding from the superb talent that is 'FX'.

Domaine Meo Camuzet
One of the finest estates in Burgundy. This is from a single 1.5-hectare plot in the lieu-dit Le Bas de Combe whose location next to Vosne-Romanée is borne out by this wine’s open, lifted bouquet which would be more Vosne than Nuits but for that engaging hint of spice. The oak (50 percent new) is well-integrated and there’s a pleasing roundness to the palate - indeed, this is remarkably complete for such a young wine

Danjou-Banessy
This Roboul cuvée exudes lifted fruit aromas in abundance with blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates and also gentle garrigue notes. On the palate it is velvety with curious, beautiful interest. There is a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity and it ends with a striking freshness. It's a marvelous wee wine. Full bottle 1,341 g. Single vineyard. 60% Mourvèdre (20 years old), 40% Grenache (30 years old) on pudding stone, clay, sand and limestone tuffeau. Hand-picked; whole-bunch, spontaneous fermentation; minimal cap work; very gently pressed. Fermented separately because the Mourvèdre ripens so much later than the Grenache. 12 months in old oak barrels of 600, 500 and 400 litres. "If I’d not known what this wine was, and put it to my nose, my first guess would be Pinot Noir, Tasmania. Rosehips. Nectarine skin. Hibiscus tea. Morels. Then, after tasting it, I’d change my mind. I’d wonder if this was Cinsault, one of Alex Milner’s wraith-like beauties, perhaps: the bruised rose petals, the jasmine tea, the taste of prickly pears and dust and pungent-peppery-green at the back of my throat. Then I smell garrigue - cistus, broom heather, wild thyme, the smell of the wind blowing through holm oaks and twisted pines and I am in the south of France. This is the fey child of Roussillon. Moulin de la Gardette
The Gigondas Tradition is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Cinsault and 10% Mourvèdre. 10% is raised in used Burgundian barrels but the majority of the wine has been both fermented and matured in concrete, traditionally in other words. Jean-Baptiste Meunier took over this ancient family estate (dating from 1670) in 1988 and has quietly brought it to its current size of 9 hectares, with some of the Grenache vines now having achieved centurion status. Organic by inclination and with the occasional biodynamic impulse, Jean-Baptiste makes some of the best Gigondas that is available today.

James Suckling 94 Points A top blend from Marcello here. His wines are all natural, and we are delighted to have them back after an absence of a couple of years. This blend is produced from handpicked grapes which underwent a micro fermentation with natural yeasts prior to being aged in oak for 20 months. This is a seriously good wine, more savoury and elegant than fruit driven, with noticeable vanilla on the finish.

Marcello Pelleriti is one of the leading lights of Argentinian wine making. He trained under the legendary Michel Rolland in Bordeaux and every September and October migrates to France where he is winemaker of Chateau Violette and Chateau Le Gay. It was making wine under the Chateau Violette name that lead to him being the first Argentinian to receive 100pts from wine critic Robert Parker. Based in the prime Pfalz vineyards around Deidesheim and Forst, Von Buhl is up there with the best in this classic region - relatively warm by German standards, just north from the French Alsace wine region along the Rhine. As Jancis Robinson OBE MW notes this is a super spot for wine bargains. The nose shouts Pinot Noir: strawberry; spice; warm hay; all the classic markers. A whiff of oak, less animal than Burgundy, less plump than California. On the palate more classically German with bright elevated acidity, a cool lift. Let it breathe long, this is a bargain serious Pinot in the pale and mysterious idiom, well worth a look!
