Tronquoy-Lalande 2014 Saint Estephe Champagne Pierre Bertrand 1er Cru Brut NV £32 came first in a Decanter tasting of over 100 Grower Champagnes in June 2018, with a score of 98 and an Exceptional rating. We have been importing it into the UK for 12 years and we always knew it was great, now some of the top wine critics agree with us, unanimously. A premium cuvee made exclusively from the premier cru villages of Cumieres and Hautvillers. These are warm sites, with south-facing vineyard s well-exposed to the sun, and for this cuvee Bertrand blends the three main Champagne grape varieties in equal proportions. It's aged for six years in the cellars before release, which is unusually long for a grower estate, and this long ageing on the lees contributes to the wine's complexity and finesse. Organic £26.99 A very special wine from ancient plants of two of the rarest and very best vines for Soualnes terroir, Grenache Gris and Carignan Gris. This really does have everything. It's floral, honeyed orchard and citrus fruits added to its sumptuousness, its layers of texture and bright but not too spiky acidity. Very long with great balance and so much interest. Divine stuff that is here in tiny quantities. In their blends we find the particularity of the estate's grape varieties, atypical for a Saint-Estèphe wine, dominated by Merlot, which fruit combines with the power of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The hint of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc adds freshness, finesse and aromatic complexity. 90/100 Jane Anson "From the same team as Château Montrose, this is always a great wine, full of finesse and drama. This is very good quality, with a lovely rich, deep texture with sexy, ripe fruit. Fairly simple cherry and redcurrant aromas lead to blackcurrants and plums in the mouth, with refreshing acidity and a line of bitterness on the back palate. The grapes were whole-bunch pressed, which perhaps adds that greeness underneath the ripe fruit. A more structured, tannic wine than initially expected, but with lovely fruit - delicious wine.

Famously delicate and sexy pink At the March 2022 Taste Champagne (300 wines) I have to say this stood out as one of the most delicious "drinking Champagnes" on show - and there were some very Showy wines on show that day. A huge success for us, easy to forget just how gorgeous it is - firstly it is so very savoury, forget the cherry fruits, it's more like Xmas cake, rhubarb, forest floor, nettle and nutmeg. When the glass is empty the aromas persist. This is Grand stuff, the stuff of deluxe cuvee, truly epic. And a dinner wine too. Negroamaro I Muri 2022 Vigneti del Salento £13.50 Negroamaro is the most important of Puglia’s native black grape vines. Its origins are uncertain, but may have arrived in Italy with Ilyrian traders even before the Greeks arrived in the 7th Century BC. Ancient vine grown in the ancient Taranto region - the inside of the heel. Inky dark, packed with plum and spice. Very natural winemaking, very lush endearing wine. Lyrarakis Liatiko Red IGP 2023 £15.99 Very light ruby colour, impressive aromas of dark cherry and wild berries with flavours bursting deep and pure on the palate. Intense and balanced with fine tannins and an expressive juicy finish. A delicious refreshing, light and juicy red that can be enjoyed lightly chilled. Contents and image may vary.

CWM Rating: First Class! 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc A classy, complex nose of passion fruit, mango, lemon tart and gooseberry. Great intensity on the savoury palate with a smokey undertone. Creamy hazelnuts, yuzu zest and green fruits, seasoned with vanilla seeds, lead to a touch of spice on the finish.

Pessac-Leognan, just south of the city of Bordeaux, features gravel-rich soils that produce wines with excellent clarity and definition. Odyssée is a cuvée by Château Haut Nouchet, and its vines are some of the highest elevation in the appellation. The blend is about 60/40 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot, with a splash of Petit Verdot. We found this wine impressive in its combination of intensity and restraint. The nose is dark and polished with plum and wild cherries, and notes of liquorice and spice. The mouth is inky and dark but the fruit is laid over a beautifully clean structure of fine gravely tannin. This is a classy, sleek Bordeaux with a beautifully balanced mouthfeel, that tastes a lot more expensive than it is.

Jean Christophe Meyrot, ex La Violette (one of the top properties in Pomerol) . Full on but good structure. Juicy palate. Certainly ripe. Warm, good acid, persistent. More powerful than elegant. Forthright. Dark ruby color with black fruit notes like blackberries and black cherries, violet and dry herbs, leather and black pepper, nice minerality and French oak, some vanilla and tobacco. Nice balance and structure with a long finish.

Silver Medal winner for this Merlot-based red wine that is packed with flavour and very well balanced already. Lots of plum and blackberry primary flavours, soft tannins and a nice lick of acidity that keeps the wine energetic.

79% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, aged in tank. Beautiful garnet color with brick reflections. Powerful nose of sour cherry, overripe red fruits, vanilla and spicy notes. Full and fleshe on the palate, supported by a well-integrated tannic structure, which confers power and length, we find notes of strawberry jam on the palate Château Moulin de Mallet has been a family property since 1898. Over the years, the estate has grown to become the main activity of the Courderc family when Serge arrived to work on the property in 1985. It extends today on 40 hectares of vinesSerge has been fully in charge of the property since 1997 and his son Julien, holder of a BTS viti-oeno, joined him in 2000.

Pinot Noir - the classic grape of Burgundy. It's not only the place it shines but it's the place that most growers want to measure their wines against and we start this selection with a terrific wine from the famed Cotes de Nuits village of Morey-Saint-Denis. Remi Jeanniard is a 5th generation vigneron who has 20 acres of prime land, including Grand Cru Clos de la Roche, 1er Cru and village wines in Morey, Chambolle and Gevrey. He's a class act as his old vine Morey 2020 attests. We've matched it up with another non-Burgundian Pinot Noir, Danbury Ridge, from a bit closer to home. As in being from Essex, England. Our thirs wine comes from the other side of the planet, grown in the cool Central Otago region of New Zealand's South Island. 90% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 5% Garnacha from Rioja, Spain. The wine spends 20 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Inviting aromas of ripe black cherry, nice vanilla notes and a touch of balsamic. The wine tastes smooth and round in the mouth with lots of tart black cherry fruit, sweet spice notes, licorice and more vanilla.

The Mol-B Vinho Branco Frisante shows gentle, floral and fruity aromas, whilst the palate is soft with a sparkle and bright grapey fruit with a touch of fresh mango and citrus to the fresh, delightful finish. Excellent as an aperitif and also pairs well with fish, shellfish, salads and grilled vegetables.
