First planted in 1860, the ‘Hill of Grace’ vineyard has been in the Henschke family since 1891, with Cyril Henschke producing its first single-vineyard Shiraz in 1958. Planted at 400 metres above sea level, this 4-hectare vineyard is named after the Gnandenberg Lutheran Church opposite (‘Gnadenberg’ translates to ‘Hill of Grace’ in German). The site’s original ‘Ancestors’ vines are now approximately 160 years old and remain at the heart of the ‘Hill of Grace’ vineyard, alongside a small selection of ungrafted ‘Centenarians’ (vines over 100 years old), ‘Survivors’ (vines over 70 years old) and ‘Old Vines’ (over 35 years old). The 100+ year old vines of the Barossa Valley deliver Rhône-style wines of unparalleled concentration and freshness. Cuvée Juveniles was created as a ‘Cotes Du Rhone’ inspired bistro wine from classic Barossa varieties of Grenache and Mataro (Mourvedre). Alongside these Barossa cornerstones, Torbreck has planted two other traditional Rhone varieties: Counoise and Carignan. These give savoury and spicy notes, and add a level of complexity. Ben Haines Grampians Syrah is a premium wine that is handcrafted by Ben Haines, a well-known winemaker from Australia. This wine is made using grapes that are exclusively grown in the Grampians region of Victoria, which are known for their distinctly rich and complex flavors. This syrah is a bold and full-bodied wine with a dark garnet color, offering aromas of black cherry, black pepper, and a hint of smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is rich with black fruit flavors and has a firm tannin structure with a long, lingering finish. The Ben Haines Grampians Syrah is an excellent wine to pair with red meat, game, or roasted vegetables.

The vineyard is planted to approximately 50% Pinot Noir, over different aspects and soil types. This wine comes from vines planted on the south and southeast facing blocks and is a combination of MV6 and 777 clones. This block has a cooler, more protected aspect, enabling extended ripening flavour and tannin. This wine reflects a cooler vintage, with a delicate fruit and an elegant structure. Winemaking: The fruit parcels of fruit were fermented in 2000L vats with a small proportion of whole bunch use, given the cooler year. Maceration for approximately two-three weeks, with gentle pump- overs used twice daily for cap management. The wine was matured in French oak (25% new) for 10 months before blending. 120 dozen produced. 196 bottles for the UK. A new cuvée here from Basket Range - a juicy, fruity, delicious chillable red blend. From Sholto Broderick at Basket Range Wines: This wine is comprised predominately of Merlot and Petit Verdot from our vineyard. These were macerated with the use of whole bunches and with gentle handling, which gives lifted fruit and a spice from the stalks. The components were then blended with small amount of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This makes for a red wine with gentle tannin and a lifted mid-palate. The Bantam is a dynamic wine that showcases juicy soft plums, white pepper, and graphitic tannin, with a savoury, highly drinkable quality. Designed for earlier drinking, it's best served cooler, at about 12c.

Hand-picked Grenache, Mourvedre and Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. Basket pressed for lush and concentrated red berries, smoked meat and sweet cake spices.

The wine is deep red with youthful violet hues, with a nose that offers an intriguing mix of cherries, raspberry sweets and pink pepper. The palate offers wild cherry, blackberry and a hint of balsamic balanced by spicy oak. This wine has a high level of natural acidity, well-balanced by the fine, rounded tannins.

Opaque and ruby red in colour, Woolloomooloo Shiraz displays a nose of smoky, ripe berry fruits with a touch of mint. Smooth and rich on the palate with spicy flavours of luscious dark berry fruits. Vegan.

An array of characters such as violets, oregano & thyme, along with glacé cherry Sweet ripe cherry fruit dominates the front palate which then develops into a more savoury wine, showing earthiness, toasted spices and lovely dried herb characters.

Dandelion Vineyards Lioness of McLaren Vale Shiraz is an exquisite and complex wine that showcases the essence of the McLaren Vale region. Grown on ancient soils, the grapes are handpicked and sorted before being fermented in small batches. This results in a wine that is elegant and refined, yet powerful and bold. The nose is full of aromas of dark fruits, violets, and pepper. On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety with notes of blackberry, chocolate, and spice. It is balanced by a subtle acidity that gives it a long, satisfying finish. This wine is a testament to the skill of the winemakers and the unique terroir of the region.

This wine is full of vibrant red fruits balanced with spice and sweet oak. The mid weight palate has lots of red cherries and blackberries and finishes with gentle spicy oak and mocha characters.

Here’s something you don’t come across everyday…a Nebbiolo/Cabernet blend that is fermented and aged in concrete egg. The choice of fermentation vessel aids circulation during teh ferment which imparts depth, volume and texture to the resultant wine. This fabulous wine not only has a cool, egg-shaped label, but drinks beautifully, showing bright acidity and a lovely balance between sweet blackcurrant fruit and something altogether more savoury and herbal. The finish is clean and multi-layered. It has a purity of fruit that allows the drinker to experience the flavours of BNebbiolo without the normal oak influence tasted in Piemontese versions.

An easy-going, laid back & fruity wine with a soft velvet mouthfeel. Bursting with flavour with notes of black cherry, spice & liquorice, all adding up to a pleasant & tasty wine.

Deep purple red in colour, the wine is a heady mix of dark berry fruit, with earthy nuances and lifted florals from the addition of Viognier. Excellent structure, it has great depth and richness of plums and blackberries with supportive, balanced oak and a lingering finish.

The bouquet is loaded with black cherry, blackberry and spice aromas, a hint of smoky oak adding charcuterie and fivespice nuances, while the palate is voluptuously full and rich, decadently flavoured, with luxurious flesh and fruit, abundant fine/soft tannins and terrific length. There are some whole-bunch nuances which are beautifully incorporated into the wide array of flavours. Tolpuddle has firmly cemented its position at the pointy end of the Tasmanian pinot noir pyramid, consistently producing knockout wines that have become a benchmark for the region. Nothing changes with the 2022 release, which shows wonderful fruit intensity and oodles of pinosity in a graceful package. Lovely pure dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits, cut with exotic spice, charcuterie, roasting game, shiitake broth, amaro herbs, purple floral tones and complex forest floor notes. Crazy good-value new Pinot from Plantagenet Wines, a long-established and famed Western Oz family winery. Delicate though richly complex, silky-smooth, nutmeg and clove spiced, subtle in all respects, a real charmer. Very, very good value at half the price of their signature wines - rarely in the wine world is one so surprised at a Pinot Noir being so underpriced. Plantagenet, founded 1974, have been awarded 5-Star Winery status ten years running by Australia's leading wine critic James Halliday. All fruit hand-picked and estate-grown, just a little oak, a fine, proud example of cool-climate Oz Pinot.

From Sholto Broderick at Basket Range Wines: This wine is the evolution of the style my father made using the same fruit; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. These vines were planted first in the early 1980s and at our new adjacent vineyard in 2001. Growing these varieties and making them into wine, I see the quality of the site and concentration of the fruit. Each block sits at a northern facing aspect on loamy clay over sandstone. The wine shows ripeness of tannin, structure and balance, while having energy and elegance. A reflection of an excellent site for these varieties. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon predominant blend (75%) with Merlot (19%) and Petit Verdot (6%). Each component was fermented in 2000L vats and matured in French barriques for 10 months. The 2022 Estate Cabernet is a pretty special wine for me. The 2021 Estate Cabernet was awarded the "Best Cabernet Trophy" at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show in 2022. I feel the 2022 vintage release is the best job of it I have made so far. Only 230 dozen produced. Sholto Broderick guides the process here, a young fella with a lot of clever stuff going on in his head, and a steady hand on the idea of legacy for the family estate. This feels like a very mature human made it. So even, so precise, so balanced, so serious yet so drinkable. Succulent texture, a freshness in the mix, dark cherry, faint mocha, liquorice, clove, blonde tobacco, alpine amaro characters in bouquet and palate. A web of emery board tannin shapes things nicely, the persistence is notable with graphite and crushed rock minerality finishing things in the distance, with a lick of clove spice there too. The nose on Larry Cherubino's Cruel Mistress Pinot Noir shows graphite and minerals, juicy black cherries & a hint of spicy oak plays a supporting role. The palate is softly textured, fresh and vibrant, the flavours of black cherry and earthy beetroot carried along by a fine long acid finish. Larry Cherubino Wines was only established in 2005, but have already achieved significant success not least with Larry Cherubino Cruel Mistress Pinot Noir. Named ''Winery of the Year 2011'' in James Halliday''s Wine Companion and ''Producer of the Year'' by wine writer Matt Skinner in the same year.

The 2015 was a wine of the week in 2020. Transparent, shaded garnet. Very mellow, well-integrated blend. Very luxuriously textured. Well-judged blend that's already approachable. Blackcurrants, blackberries and sagebrush. Lots of drive and when you taste this, you do wonder where they are going to go next, upwards the price scale. What's wrong with this? Many congratulations to the Henschke family and their growers. Very long. Went beautifully with roast beef.

A deliciously vibrant style of Australian Shiraz with succulent raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, hints of spice and elegant, seamless texture. Hailing from the 2021 vintage, thought by many to be the best of century thus far, The Quickening draws on fruit grown on Joel Matschoss’ challenging site high in the Eden Valley. Low yielding fruit is hand picked, wild fermented and aged in French oak for 11 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
