This famous Port house's best vineyard makes great wines with distinctive aromas of mint and violet with intense concentration and fine peppery tannins. Dow's is owned by the Symington family, Port producers for five generations since 1882,

Croft is one of the most distinguished and highly regarded of all the Port houses. Founded in 1588, it is also the oldest. The rich and powerful 2003 is a fine example of this excellent vintage. Sweet, aromatic and impactful, with a ripe, sumptuous palate and supple, rounded tannins.

Wonderfully exuberant, pungent, full, aromatic nose. Luscious, ripe, black cherry and plum fruit with notes of cedar and spice. The wine is wonderfully rich, rounded, concentrated, with layers juicy berry flavours and attractive notes of cedar. An elegant wine with good complexity. Lovely, intense finish full of flavour.

This wine is a remarkable example of the Noval style. Treated exactly like a Vintage Port with only noble grape varieties from the Quinta, trodden by foot and unfiltered. Its main difference is that it is aged for five years in casks instead of the two years typical of Vintage Ports. Definitely an LBV with a difference, with fine structured tannins, great freshness and purity of fruit.

Warre’s was alone for many years in continuing to make LBV in the same way as it had been made for generations; bottled without any fining or filtration after some 4 years of ageing in cask. This Port is then matured in bottle for at least another 4 years.This prolonged bottle ageing is crucial to the development of the superb “nose” and flavour which lend this Port a style and complexity very much akin to that of Vintage Port. A unique blend only made by Blandy’s, combining the islands Bual & Malmsey varietals, Blandy's 5 year old Reserva was aged in American oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' system. This comprises of the gentle heating of the wine in the lofts of the lodges in Funchal. Over the years the wine is transferred from the top floors to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler.
