Romain Delhome A brilliant, fresh and invigorating Crozes Hermitage Rouge from young Romain. 100% Syrah grown on soils composed mainly of loess and some granite scree mixed with loess at elevation at Gervans and Larnage in the northern sector. Average age of vines is 35 years old. The grapes are gravity fed into the winery after destemming. The grapes are then crushed and left to macerate at a very low temperature for a few days before fermentation takes place in the truncated temperature controlled stainless steel vats. The must macerates for twenty days with very gentle spray overs (like a pump over, but gentler). The juice is then left on its own in tank for seven months. A nose full of red/black fruits. flowers and peppery notes. The palate is fresh, direct and red-fruited. Vibrant and joyful. The finish continues with finesse, with a lovely pepper note. Great tension and balance. It's a natural tasting Crozes full of life and energy. We feel it's one to drink younger and with a slight chill. It's tremedously tasty stuff for Syrah lovers.

On our hunt for decent alcohol-free wines this came out as a winner. A light, fruit driven red wine containing less than 0.5% alcohol by volume This wine will pair well with most seafood, and of course drinks well on its own. Alcohol Free wines have just natural ingredients but techniques to ensure it is alcohol free vary. This includes removing sugar pre fermentation to more sophisticated techniques of spinning the alcohol out through cones. In the UK drinks that are between 0.05% and 0.5% ABV are classed as non-alcoholic.

Dandelion Vineyards Lioness of McLaren Vale Shiraz is an exquisite and complex wine that showcases the essence of the McLaren Vale region. Grown on ancient soils, the grapes are handpicked and sorted before being fermented in small batches. This results in a wine that is elegant and refined, yet powerful and bold. Romain Delhome "This is an interesting newcomer to the ranks in the northern sector of Crozes-Hermitage, with vineyards in the communes of Crozes itself, Larnage, Gervans and Erôme. There are almost 11.5 hectares of Crozes across 20 plots, Romain is the fifth generation; his great-grandfather Flavien Delhome had vineyards, while, on his mother’s side there were vineyards under her family in the shape of Severin Habrard, so there are two old roots at play here. Father Gérald took over the domaine in 1993, and concentrated on apricots and vines, the grape harvest sent to the Cave de Tain. Son Romain came on to the domaine in 2018; he had worked locally at Gigondas and in the Ventoux at Chêne Bleu, as well as in Virginia in the USA. The cellar was built in 2019. The domaine is HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) registered, a green credential, and the 2022 harvest will be officially organic. 100% Syrah (average age 40 years) from south-facing sanded granite soils on Les Sourdets at 300 metres at Larnage next to the cellars, granite fragments on flat ground at bottom of Le Caire at Gervans, hand harvested, destemmed, pre-fermentation cold maceration at 8°-10°C "to seek red fruits, especially from Gervans", 20-25 day steel vat vinification at 24°-28°C, pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, raised 75% 3-10 year 228-litre & 600-litre oak casks (85% 228-litres, 15% 600-litres), 25% steel vat 11-12 months". This is excellent Crozes Hermitage with good structure with what feels like perfect extraction - wonderful texture and depth. But the Boreal is ultimately all about the fruit, though, which is charmingly wild in character and quite dark. Blackberry, the beginnings of mulberry and a bit of liquorice in there too. A wonderful offering.

This Shiraz has an intense crimson colour with youthful purple hues. Generous, mouth-filling sweet blackberries, raspberries and plums cover the palate with lashings of sweet spice. Firm but fine tannins and dark chocolatey nuances continue throughout the lengthy palate with a youthful finish.

Opaque and ruby red in colour, Woolloomooloo Shiraz displays a nose of smoky, ripe berry fruits with a touch of mint. Smooth and rich on the palate with spicy flavours of luscious dark berry fruits. Vegan.

A lovely red Crozes produced with fruit from the Domaine's established 50-year-old plus vineyards in eastern Les Chassis at Mercurol and in the south of Les Chassis at Pont de L'Isere. Both sites are marked with the classic Chassis terroir of red clay limestone with large, rolled pebbles. This cuvee in 2023 has elegance and lift, with suave, deep but charming fruit that has a lovely lush quality mixed with classic, complex iron notes, a nice tension and a lovely freshness. The tannins are beautifully judged here. Drinking now is a lovely experience, but this shall show well for a good few years to come. A gorgeous Crozes-Hermitage. Vendome are an established Domaine but have only started producing their own wines in the last couple of years. The wines have been very warmly received in both the French and international wine press in the debut 2020 vintage and in the following far trickier 2021 vintage. We are very happy to have struck up a relationship with the Domaine at such an early stage. The whole range is impressive across the board. Their classic red Crozes a great place to get acquainted. "Fair red robe; the nose has a smoked, pumice stone air, a leafy intonation, with discreet raspberry on the inside, is a calm opening. The palate carries a note of iodine, salting, that freshens it, is nicely droit, gives perfumed red fruits with a little vegetal tang that isn’t discordant. This fits together agreeably, has some of the crispness of the northern sector, its clarity. It can gain, amplify with another year or so, has commendable detail, some subtlety". **** John Livingstone-Learmonth on Drink Rhone "13% alcohol. Organic. This Syrah blend with soft black fruits and spice has been shaped by the sunbaked rocky soils of the unmistakable and very definite Faugeres terroir. A herbal, spicy bouquet is followed by youthful red cherries and supple mineral character derived from the schist rich soils. One of our greatest value wines.

Vivid black-purple, all the tarry plum-skin beauty of Syrah with cinnamon and a bit of vanilla oak, best of all a proudly generous portion of ripe tannin to hold it all together. Genius. You'd never find a Barossa Shiraz this good at the price!

Deep and dark red. Shiny. Full with a long finish and plenty of elegance and finesse due to the well balanced tannins and fruit. This classic wine offers top quality year in year out. From famed Northern Rhône producer Guigal, this is a full-bodied and rich southern Rhône red that displays plenty of brambles and herbs combined with liquorice and graphite aromas. Dominated by syrah, there are lots of red-berry fruits and black-pepper spice.

Ripe plums, mulberry, cherry blossom, and violet aroma while infused with subtle hints of cinnamon and sweet spices. The palate is gentle and the tannins fresh but rounded.

Winemaker Duncan Stuart has a great feel for these Mediterranean grape varieties and the quality of the wines oustrips their price by some margin, making it a delight to present his wines to our UK clients. Tim Atkin "The entry-point Syrah from Duncan Stuart is a stunner at the price, made with grapes from three comparatively young blocks on schist soils. Inky and intensely perfumed, it has violet and mountain herb aromas, rosemary, black olive and blackberry flavours and polished tannins. Hard to beat for value. 2026-32." All grapes are handpicked during the early morning hours. 85% of these grapes are then crushed and destemmed, whilst the remaining 15% is fermented as whole cluster. Natural fermentation takes place in both open fermenters and closed stainless steel tanks. Extraction is obtained by regular pump overs and punch downs. After fermentation is completed, the wine is pressed to neutral barrels. Malolactic bacteria are inoculated and malolactic fermentation is completed in the barrel. The wine is then racked from the lees and given a low dose of sulphur. The wine spends a total of 10 months in the barrel before it is blended and bottled.
