Domaine Rolly-Gassmann
Wow what a wonderful wine with a fantastic nose. Ripe fruits mingle with dried fruits with port like raisin and plum on the nose. Palate changes somehow and is much subtler, layered and expansive. Red apple, dried apricot, candied orange rind, Meyer lemon, smoke...it just keeps revealing itself further with this persisting mineral backdrop. Loved it!!!

Domaine les Yeuses
Victoria Moore writes (of the 2013 vintage) "a favourite all-rounder red. It’s merlot made precisely à point; there’s a juicy generosity, but also a refreshing leafiness: redcurrant leaves and lightly stewed damsons."

Weingut Schatzel
Bright, intense and dry Riesling with rich peach, ripe citrus fruit with a mouth-watering acidity and a persistent lengthy finish. Delicious, organic wine from a great family producer. The Schätzel family has been producing wine since 1350, making them the oldest winemaking family in the Rheinhessen. The red slate of the vineyards around Nierstein, where the estate is based, spans six hectares, of which the majority is Riesling. In 2008, when Kai Schätzel took over his family’s estate, he transformed it to organic and biodynamic farming and reintroduced traditional winemaking methods. He has developed a reputation for his unique style which involves less alcohol, less exuberant fruit, more minerality and a more cutting and distinctive flavour profile.

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe
An absolute classic. Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is a family owned and operated estate and is one of the preeminent producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Though one of the largest landowners in the region, they only produce three red and two white wines, of which this is unquestionably the flagship. It is a traditionally styled wine usually comprised of around 65% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault and 10% Syrah from 70-year-old vines in the prime lieu-dit of La Crau.

Weingut Max Ferd.Richter
“The winemakers at Richter believe that great wine comes from the vineyard, not the cellar. With this in mind they strive for precision in their daily viticultural work. The challenge of cultivating vines on the steep, slate slopes of Mosel is overcome by fastidious handwork, small crop sizes, all-natural fertilizers and sustainable farming practices. Additionally, all harvesting is done by hand. Vinification starts with gentle pressing and slow temperature controlled fermentation in traditional old oak barrels (fuders). This careful, deliberate process preserves the vineyard-grown quality of the grapes, develops the unique character of the single-vineyard cuvees, and to gives Richter wines exceptional longevity.” “Racy Kabinett driven by mature tartaric acid. Very typical aromatic structure of red berries, as well as nuances of grapefruit and slate stone.” – Winery Max Ferd. Richter

Yves Cuilleron
A rather unusual 100% Marsanne from a small appellation in the Northern Rhone. Textural, concentrated, impressive. Terrific wine. From the website of UK agent Thorman Hunt: A top star domaine. Yves Cuilleron took over the reins as the 4th generation vigneron in 1987. He is based in Chavanay, just south of Condrieu and has built up a formidable reputation in recent years. Always developing new ideas and cuvées, our tasting here each year is mightily impressive. We are lucky to have the allocation we do. Having started with Yves’ stunning Vin de France, we now have access to his amazing range of Grands Vins. He now owns and leases over 75 hectares. We think they are all great wines and they are all in the style of Yves Cuilleron – lingering, rich white wines and big rich minerally reds.

Gaelle et Jerome Meunier
Gaëlle et Jérôme Meunier created their own domain 12 years ago. Their vines are planted on 10 hectares in 4 appellations Mercurey, Rully, Santenay and Puligny-Montrachet (including 1.2ha of 1er Cru). Their production is 100 % hand harvested and reflects their terroir. Gaelle harvested her whites quite early to retain acidity and this has given them a lean, mineral feel. Lightly purple. Bright fresh fruit, good concentration. Redcurrant, blackcurrant, raspberry, herbs, baking spices. Creamy, toasty oak. Well structured, moderately rich dark tannins, clear acidity. Good potential to evolve. 13.5% Drink 2027-2032

Vilafonté
Named in honour of the ancient vilafonté soils that make up the estate at 1.5m years old, one of the oldest documented soil types in the world where the vines for this wine have been growing for almost two decades. A Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Just 330 barrels produced of this stunning wine. Layers of fresh plum, black cherry, baking spice and vanilla pod. Lovely mineral notes with a lingering finish. A line of acidity giving real tension to the whole wine.

Domaine Delhome
"I like wines that are direct, with tension, a vertebral column, for both the reds and the whites". Romain Delhome "This is an interesting newcomer to the ranks in the northern sector of Crozes-Hermitage, with vineyards in the communes of Crozes itself, Larnage, Gervans and Erôme. There are almost 11.5 hectares of Crozes across 20 plots, Romain is the fifth generation; his great-grandfather Flavien Delhome had vineyards, while, on his mother’s side there were vineyards under her family in the shape of Severin Habrard, so there are two old roots at play here. Father Gérald took over the domaine in 1993, and concentrated on apricots and vines, the grape harvest sent to the Cave de Tain. Son Romain came on to the domaine in 2018; he had worked locally at Gigondas and in the Ventoux at Chêne Bleu, as well as in Virginia in the USA. The cellar was built in 2019. The domaine is HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) registered, a green credential, and the 2022 harvest will be officially organic. 100% Syrah (average age 40 years) from south-facing sanded granite soils on Les Sourdets at 300 metres at Larnage next to the cellars, granite fragments on flat ground at bottom of Le Caire at Gervans, hand harvested, destemmed, pre-fermentation cold maceration at 8°-10°C "to seek red fruits, especially from Gervans", 20-25 day steel vat vinification at 24°-28°C, pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, raised 75% 3-10 year 228-litre & 600-litre oak casks (85% 228-litres, 15% 600-litres), 25% steel vat 11-12 months". This is excellent Crozes Hermitage with good structure with what feels like perfect extraction - wonderful texture and depth. But the Boreal is ultimately all about the fruit, though, which is charmingly wild in character and quite dark. Blackberry, the beginnings of mulberry and a bit of liquorice in there too. A wonderful offering.

Domaine La Loyane
A blend of Clairette 70% and Grenache 30%. 80 year old vines are planted in mixed soils of red sand, clay and round pebbles. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinification takes place in 100% old wooden casks. The wine is matured in large ‘demi-muid’ barrels for 6 months on the lees. Domaine La Lôyane was voted Winemaker of the Year in 2018 by the Guide Hachette, France's wine bible. La Lôyane refers to the place where the estate is built, a place formerly occupied by wolves! The estate, founded in 1994, is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, near Avignon in the Lirac cru. The Dubois family has been cultivating its 20 hectares of vines there for 4 generations! And the last, with Romain Dubois, has cnverted the estate to organic farming. An extremely precise estate, which is constantly moving upmarket and producing wines from vines that are sometimes more than a century old!

Rathfinny Estate
Rich in colour, structured, and versatile. Greath depth of character. Rathfinny 2018 Rosé is the fourth vintage of our expressive Sussex Sparkling, with a red-fruit style that beautifully showcases the increased presence of Pinot Noir within the blend. “Rathfinny English sparklers rank among the best; their new release 2018 rosé is subtle and complex – look out for red apple, raspberry, red cherry, crème anglaise, orange peel and white pepper.” Susy Atkins, Stella Magazine, The Sunday Telegraph

Domaine des Trinités
Natural wine from Simon Coulshaw: no cultured yeast, enzymes, chemical tannins or fining product. 90% 130 yr old-vine Cinsault, 10% Syrah. I was instructed to chill this a bit before tasting. It was in the fridge for about 25 minutes and then left out for 10 minutes before tasting. Fresh red-berried nose. Hurrah! Here is another Languedoc producer who 'gets' Cinsault. Perky, bright, raspberries and with that lovely telltale Cinsault salty-sweet tang that always reminds me of the best prosciutto or jamon. A bit of white pepper and ground cumin tangled into feather-light sinews of tannin. This is absolutely YUM. Tapas/aperitivo wine, without a doubt. I could drink this all summer long. R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia
"The 2001 Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva is the follow-up of the 1995. There is a sense of harmony and elegance, of nuance and subtleness that wasn't quite the same in the Bosconia, as comparing both wines is inevitable. They started picking the red grapes the 15th of October, and the last grapes were picked the 29th of October with good weather. The grapes ripened properly and thoroughly, and the wine has great balance for a long aging in bottle. This is 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho and 5% each Graciano and Mazuelo that fermented in their 153-year-old oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in used barrels for 10 years. It has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 6.4 grams of acidity (tartaric). The nose shows young (tasting it blind, you'd guess a 10-year old wine, not a 20-year-old wine!). It has a nose of sweet spices, underbrush and cigar ash, somewhat balsamic, bramble fruit with perfect ripeness, integrated and young but starting to show some tertiary complexity. The palate is velvety and medium-bodied, with fine-grained, chalky tannins denoting a limestone soil that brings finesse and texture and a sapid, tasty, almost salty finish. This is going to make a beautiful bottle of old Rioja in 30 years' time! 25,000 bottles produced. " It was bottled after being fined with egg whites in July 2012. Drink 2021-2040. 98/100. Garnet in colour, mostly opaque and bright. The nose takes a few minutes to open and then shows cherries and black cherries with some spice. On the palate, this is full bodied with a nice nice texture. Lots of black cherry fruit. A bit of anise on the long finish. Blind, I think I would have guessed Oregon or maybe California here due to all the ripe fruit. Still quite young, perhaps another two or three years will calm it down for those looking for more elegance. I quite enjoyed this as is. It will continue to drink nicely for a decade. Great on its own, this will work well with classic Pinot dishes such as roasted duck.

Aloe Tree
Bursting with dark berry flavours of blackberry, dark cherry and plums, this Shiraz has soft and supple tannins and a white pepper finish. The fruit for Aloe Tree hails from the increasingly fashionable west coast of the Cape. Cool nights and sea breezes combine to extend the growing season, resulting in perfectly balanced, ripe grapes. The iconic Aloe Tree image is sure to be familiar to anyone who has travelled widely through the Cape and is an important part of the biodiversity which South Africa is famous for. The characteristic silhouette provides a backdrop to one of the most spectacular wine regions in the world where wines grow in harmony with the thousands of plant species that make up the Cape Floral Kingdom. The grapes come from selected vineyard blocks on the west coast. The extra warmth in this area helps develop the full body and ripe flavours of this variety. The vines are planted on Karoo clay soils that add body and texture to the wine. The vines ages vary from 10 to 25 years old. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, the fruit is gently pressed and only the free run juice is used. Using selected yeasts the juice then undergoes fermentation at between 18-22 degrees Celsius for 5 days. Because of the depth of flavour, it requires less oak treatment compared to other grape varieties and matures on French oak for 3 months to improve body and texture. During fermentation the wine is pumped over 3 times a day for colour extraction.

Pale pink, bright and lively. Notes of red fruits, such as fresh strawberries, and citrus reminiscent of orange peel and pink grapefruit, with tinges of rose and white pepper. Domaine Vendome
There are many delightul Northern Rhone whites from 2021 and this is very much one of them. Performing very well in Crozes-Hermitage tastings in both Terres des Vins and La Revue du vin de France, well up amongst the big boys and girls of the appellation. 70% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne - half from loess soils on l'Homme at Larnage, half from loess soils on Les Pinets at Crozes-Hermitage. 90% steel vat, 10% new 600-litre oak cask fermented, raised 9 months, assembled just before bottling, malo completed. John Livingstone Learnmouth on Drink Rhone - "Fine yellow robe; the nose is neat, offers lime cordial, peach airs, hints of salt and spring flowers, a note of varnish. This drinks with direct purpose, has a restrained, firm content, gathers depth and tannin into the solid, slightly pushy finish. There is more weight than at first appears, turning it towards a table wine, up for pork dishes, vegetarian pasta, courgettes, Brie de Meaux, cheddar. Decant it. From mid 2023 until 2029-31" Rated 3.5/5 stars.

Absolutlely divine pet nat from Gramiller. Fontanassa
This is a richer, full bodied and more complex white wine with minerality and almonds. Tbh this wine is so special that it’s difficult to describe. Although it’s a heavier white, it can also taste light and even sometimes a little floral. It’s contradictory. And that’s why I love it. Serve it only lightly chilled. This is a heavier white so it can take on some heavier white meat dishes. But as Piemonte is the home of Risotto, we think a really simple cheese, pumpkin or saffron risotto is a great pairin Timorasso is one of Italy’s rarest grapes. It’s only grown in a tiny area by a few winegrowers. It’s spectacular, though. The Italians call it the ‘White Barolo’ and you know how obsessed everyone is with Barolos.

The Erdener Treppchen is one of the most legendary vineyard sites on the Mosel and was already an active vineyard in Roman times. The iron-rich, red slate soil gives the Rieslings grown here their very own intense minerality and race. This offers very refined and deeply complex notes of peach, orchard fruits, citrus and dried flowers. The wine combines a delicious creaminess and zest with freshness. It is racy and multi-layered on the palate with a sappy and very long finish. This terrific Spätlese is a great ambassador of the Estate’s classical airy and delicate style.

We are very excited to be able to bring you the 2019 Brut Classic Cuvée. This multi award-winning wine has won a 2023 Decanter World Wine Award, an International Wine Challenge and a Wine GB Award and most recently has been named as one of the top 100 UK wines in 2023. 2019 was another outstanding growing year for us in East Anglia and prior to the record-breaking summer of 2022, the hottest temperature ever recorded (a whopping 38.7 degrees) was measured just down the road at the Cambridge Botanical Gardens in July 2019. This wine is made from 50% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier and 35% Chardonnay grapes and has been aged for 38 months on its yeast lees. The nose is packed with red apple, red berries and creamy brioche balanced with a palate of vibrant grapefruit, soft stone fruit and a hint of honey. With our renowned flint minerality coming through, this wine has an elegant, yet long finish. We think that this is a delicious and complex sparkling wine a perfect one to enjoy with a classic like Fish and Chips, a Sunday Roast or even on its own as a delicious aperitif.
