The ambassador of the range, this is a radiant, pale-pink appearance, a delicate, subtle nose and is fresh and lively on the palate. The fruity aromas of this easy-drinking wine make it perfect for an aperitif or enjoyed with tapas, a tasty pizza or a little charcuterie.

Another outstanding Mourvedre-led Languedoc Rose. Yves Falmet has spent time selecting the best plots on his single slope of vines in Creyssian Saint-Chinian for the production of a fresh (12% abv) Rose. Pale pink colour, with classic, deep and full Mourvedre aromatics leading to a medium bodied, fresh palate that is citrus led with tangy tamarind, stony deliciousness and good minerality. This is an utterly outstanding bargain. A very serious, utterly drinkable Rose.

Saint Veran Domaine de la Croix Senaillet is a truly magnificent example of Maconnais Chardonnay from one of the area’s leading producers. It is a fleshy wine with vibrant lemon notes, apple and floral aromas all would round a fresh mineral finish. It’s posh enough for special occasions but affordable enough for Wednesday nights. Since the early 1990’s, brothers Richard and Stéphane Martin have been farming this Domaine along strict organic principals. They have grown their holdings from 6 to 25 hectares in that time with the majority in the Davaye commune. Their wines offer tremendous value from a region that is seeing prices escalate. Their attention to detail and quality is quite something to behold and really shines through in their wines.

Expert winemaking from Guy Vanlancker produces this fantastic Tempranillo from the the exceptional fresh terroir of his La Liviiniere vineyard in Minervois. Aromatic, medium-bodied, rounded red fruits and subtle savoury nuances.

Natural Petit Verdot raised in amphora by vigneron Simon Bertschinger. The winery is based in Fos, but the vineyards are just south of Faugeres in the clay foothills. Simon is doing some remarkabke stuff with some interesting grape varieties. Bright and vigourous but with depth and focus. Brilliant wine.

"I put this glass of wine to my nose, and had I not been firmly anchored to a chair, would have taken five steps back. The aroma swept me off my feet. Indescribable. Wild. One Thousand and One Nights distilled into a glass. Heady and exotic and riddled with rose petals and spice and coiled with riddles and one sniff of this is poetry and myth and folklore and kitchen table and campfire and someone's cigarette stubbed out at 3 am in lonely finality. Garrigue-spiced aromatics spiral through rock, plant, seed, flower with dazzling complexity. One moment it's rose petals, so delicate you could brush a baby's lips with it; the next it's hot tar, underground angry, rocks shifting deep in the cracks of the earth. This is a velvety, cocoa-dusted, amped-up-then-restrained, dark-horse beauty. Vertical, dark, slub-silk fruit with overtones of tamari and dark chocolate, crushed coffee beans and sweet forest-floor earth. Long and the kind of wine that coils around you slowly, sinuously, sensuously. Worth every penny. You'd pay three times this for a Rhône of this stature". Natural, organic Macabeu from a beautiful vineyard in Calce, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in old oak barrels. Floral, racy and minerally with soft texture and generous apple and apricot fruit. Just lovely. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon – Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities – the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention – “To keep the fruit and the terroir”. The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling “It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers”.

Parker's Wine Advocate 94-96/100 "The yields for the 2021 Flor de Pingus were "normal" according to Sisseck, who considers it a more serious vintage for this cuvée, as they have planted some eight hectares of Garnacha (which represents maybe 3% in this blend) that was co-fermented with the Tempranillo and acted as a way to make it fresher. It's a little more austere, in line with the 2018, as 2019 was riper and 2020 a little more diluted. Yields in 2021 were lower than in 2018. The wine is subtle and a little backward but very balanced, with a polished palate and very fine tannins, focused, fresh and with a sense of harmony and purity that I liked. The oak is very integrated, and the wine is quite perfumed and elegant. This has 14.2% alcohol but it doesn't feel like it at all; the wine is juicy and balanced, a little austere, which I liked, but at the same time it feels quite polished." Established in 1446, Etienne Parahy is known as the first owner of the vineyards and the estate 'Puig Parahy'. In those near 600 years, the estate has passed through 19 generations to current owner and vigneron Georges Puig (the first son of each new generation is named 'Georges'). Nestled in Les Aspres region, a wonderful mixed-soil and fresh terroir of the Roussillon which is found between Mt. Canigou and the Mediterranean sea. The estate has a rich history producing outstanding rancio sweet wines that develop and live for decades, sometimes even centuries. Bottles from the 1800s are still available today. The estate was replanted in 1878 after phylloxera wiped out all of the vineyards. Many of these vines are still producing wonderful old vine fruit of outrageous quality that is carefully and naturally handled to produce a great range of dry table wines and VdNs of many styles. This is special wine. Ancient vines of Carignan, Grenache and Mourvedre and native, wild yeasts from this historic Roussillon estate have produced this pale, bright and gorgeous mid-red coloured wine - looking exactly like a current hipster favourite. The nose is alive with prickly bright fruits intermixed with beautiful secondary and tertiary aromas of old books, furniture and childhood memories of churches and other magnificent and curious things of wonder. The palate is equally as interesting and as equally sparkly bright and refreshing. But so rewarding, resolved and complex. An utter marvel from this unsung fresh terroir in the magnificent Roussillon.

Fruit! Glorious fruit! Oh my, what a delicious wine made up of Alicante Bouschet 70% and Grenache Noir 30%. The very friendliest Alicante we have ever tasted. Dreamy, sweet blueberry and fresh blackberry fruit that is pleasingly aromatic, juicy, seamless that sits just right on the palate. Perfect for when you want the pleasures of gorgeous fruit with nice depth and presence but with a delightful lightness of touch because of the moderate alcohol (only 12% abv) and pleasingly light, soft tannin. Utterly great on its own or with lighter meat dishes. Wonderful and unique. "Rhonejolais", if you will.

92 Points James Suckling, 92 Points Robert Parker Maquis Lien is a hand-crafted blend, resulting in a distinctive wine that reflects the special plot of land the Hurtado family owns in the Colchauga Valley in Chile. The vineyards and winery are located at the confluence of two historic rivers, which brought down sediments from the Andes that established the vineyard's alluvial soils. The same river canyons channel cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, contributing to the wine's rich fruit character. The nose is very harmonious and the varieties feel very integrated; the Carménère does not dominate the aromas and is nicely blended with the others. There is an extra spark of freshness here along with more restraint and seriousness. A red blend of finesse.

Region-level wines from top producers have become the best source of value in Burgundy. This bottling from Armand Heitz is case in point. Rich and toasty, yet fresh and mineral-driven, this is classic White Burgundy that you can treat as an everyday wine. Tastes like: Ripe peach, toasted bread, vanilla, smoke. How to drink: Chilled, but not cold, alongside roast chicken or seafood in cream sauce.

Vie Cave was created after very careful geological and oenological research intended to release the potential of this new variety in the Italian viticultural scene. Malbéc, a French grape, thrives in Maremma’s volcanic soils, prospering in its new terroir. Vie Cave is balanced and soft and it reflects all the charm of the territory where it is produced. The name of the wine is dedicated to the Etruscan Vie Cave, or excavated roads, passageways excavated vertically in cliffs of tuff that surround the estate’s property.

Both Organic and Fairtrade. The Sauvignon brings herbaceous and lime notes, and a zingy citrus acidity. The Chenin Blanc adds a fruity mid palate of stone fruit and guava.

White grapefruit, intense tropical fruit, ripe gooseberry and fleshy kiwi fruit over-lay Iona's distinctive herbal and floral undertones. The palate is keenly balanced showing cut green apples and lime marmalade followed by great minerality and length. Vegan.

Las Condes Chardonnay has a fruity nose with a smokiness and fresh pineapple and banana fruit. On the palate the tropical fruit is met by a smooth, creamy mouth-feel and balancing acidity.

Muscat a Petit Grain 50% and Muscat d;Alexandria 50% that spends one month in 'maceration' with its skins. Francois Xavier AKA 'FX'. FX worked with Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa for five years. He spent a further year with Domaine Danjou-Banessy. After such time this local lad set up in Espira to make his own wholly exciting wines which we are introducing the UK for the first time. Dom. des Lampyres Luminescence 2021 Vin de France 10.5% alc Muscat a Petit Grain 50% and Muscat d’Alexandria 50% all hand harvested. Muscat a Petit Grain saw whole bunch maceration for one month in stainless steel vats. The Muscat d'Alexandria saw maceration for one month in clay amphora. after being destemmed. The juices were each pressed to breeding in 5hl barrels and 10hl amphora for 8 months. A wonderful, unique and very interesting wine. The only addition is 2 g/Hl of sulphites at bottling. Old vine Grenache grown on decomposed black schist with a limestone sub soil, that produces something amazing. Very cloudy mid gold. Fabulous nose: intensely aromatic, lightly floral, apricot, orange, lime, dried grasses, the complexity of the blend and the winemaking working together. Intense freshness too, gentle grip, a touch of baked apple but not overly oxidative. You could drink this on its own, despite the firm tannin texture, or with food. Long, complex and mouth-watering, delicious. Full-throttle skin-fermented white yet fully harmonious, showing how well suited the aromatic varieties are to this style of winemaking, if handled with care and not overdone. Utterly refreshing but not in the least simple."

Organic. natural, sustainable viticulture As Greg Sherwood MW says of the 2015 vintage of this wine: "This is what top quality German Pinot Noir is all about" Super-serious grower, family-owned since 1849, organic, natural sustainable viticulture. Based in the prime Pfalz vineyards around Deidesheim and Forst, Von Buhl is up there with the best in this classic region - relatively warm by German standards, just north from the French Alsace wine region along the Rhine. As Jancis Robinson OBE MW notes this is a super spot for wine bargains. The nose shouts Pinot Noir: strawberry; spice; warm hay; all the classic markers. A whiff of oak, less animal than Burgundy, less plump than California. On the palate more classically German with bright elevated acidity, a cool lift. Let it breathe long, this is a bargain serious Pinot in the pale and mysterious idiom, well worth a look!

50% Grenache Blanc, 40% Clairette (planted 1950) from 0.9 hectare on very stony alluvial soils at Sablet and 10% Roussanne on Gramiller at La Montagnette at Rasteau. The wine sees ferment in 80% steel vat, 20% old oak cask. Then bred for 6 months. 2,500 bottles produced. The nose is all freshly cut juicy pears and gorgeous white flowers - so pretty, utterly charming. More fruit and flowers to the palate's silky juice. This is medium-bodied, elegant and long Southern Rhone white wine with fine acid. Really jolly drinking and great with delicate fish or simply as the classiest aperitif.

This wine has rich apricot flavours, alongside notes of beeswax and walnuts. The finish combines a lively acidity with a subtle tannic grip, making it the perfect accompaniment to food

Westwell's Ortega Rose is fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to retain freshness and purity. For this Rose we’ve co-fermented with ripe Regent to add notes of bright red crunchy fruit. It has a nose of wild strawberries and honeysuckle with flavours of redcurrants, bramble fruits and a twist of white pepper on the finish. Delicious on its own or with seafood, chargrilled fish, salads or light pasta dishes. Best served chilled (8-10C).

Full-bodied, fruity grenache-syrah blend made using fruit grown in the excellent southern Rhône region of Rasteau. This is ample and spicy with some deliciously ripe and juicy fruit, typical of the vintage.

A blend of Genache Blanc, Gris and Noir, from ancient 90 year old vines, this is beautiful, racy, elegant wine that is softly textured and very ‘modern’ in its freshness and balance.

Debuting in 2020, Dom. des Trinités La Lumière is a full maceration wine made from beautiful fruit from and outstanding single vineyard. It is intense, mineral thrilling and utterly satisfying. Grab this limited production wine before all the plaudits start flooding in. Soil and climate: The vines are planted on the highest vineyards of the steep north facing slopes in the beautiful foothills of the Cevennes mountains in an isolated position surrounded by nothing other than herbaceous shrub and woodland. The soil is a combination of schist and basalt boulders keeping a freshness and bright acidity in these deep rooting vines. Harvest and vinification: All the grapes are handpicked 2 weeks after the grapes used in the Imaginaire from the highest point in the vineyard (350M) and provide a yield of between 15 and 20 hl/ha and undergo a rigorous triage both at the vineyard and the winery. The small 15kg crates of fruit are taken straight to the winery where they are put in to tanks and left on their skins for 21 days under a nap of Carbon Dioxide at 8°C before being gently pressed. After 48 hours of cold settling the juice is racked-off the grape solids, then allowed to ferment at low temperatures (12 - 14 degrees centigrade). A carbon dioxide nap is also used throughout the entire fermentation process to avoid excess oxidation. Wild ferment, no use of enzymes or any other fining products. Tasting notes: A delicate white blossom, tangerine skin nose gives way to a rich, textured and multi-layered mouth feel, providing lush fruit with hints of lychee and grapefruit developing in to some green olive and almond on the finish.

An absolute classic Roussillon 'house' blend from the master Daniel Laffite (the hardest working man with the hands to prove it!). The classic Soulanes recipe of richness, purity of beautiful fruit, freshness and seamlessness. Delicious and underpriced. This wine never lets you down.

Grown on rocky schist soils in the commune of Estagel. West to north-west exposure. The vineyard is called 'Poux Baly'. A beautiful, bright blend of Vermentino 38%, Grenache Gris 34% and Maccabeu 28% that is utterly delicious and versatile. Medium weight with a fine, fresh length. Harvested at night into small crates and made very naturally and fermented in steel vats, with only one small addition of sulphites before bottling. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to keep the bright freshness.

The medium-ruby colored IGP Pays D'Oc Les Zazous (100% Pinot Noir) offers a pretty, elegant style as well as attractive notes of dried cherries, dusty soil and spice. It's charming, has no hard edges and a clean finish, all of which make it ideal for drinking over the coming couple of years.

Of the "Chateauneuf satellite" villages, Cairanne is the most recently-elevated, and most undervalued, sharing a ridge with Rasteau and a plateau with Gigondas et al. This star stood out for us as truly exceptional value, with such character and depth of plummy fruit, a classic black olive and herby edge. Quite a piece at the price, it's easily the peer of its neighbours. From the superb 2021 vintage, top producer, organic, no added sulphites. Thoroughly recommended.

Forward apricot and orange blossom notes on a generous palate balanced by brisk acidity, with a marmalade finish and gentle spicing from french and US oak.

2nd Wine of Ch Laroque, Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé. Made of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc from vines more than 50 years old, the medium to deep garnet-purple coloured 2018 Les Tours de Laroque opens with pretty raspberry coulis, black cherries and warm plums scents with underlying fungi, black loam and cracked pepper hints plus a touch of beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and fresh, with a firm line of grainy tannins, it delivers a graceful, earthy finish.

Crisp, mineral Viognier with hints of peach and apricot, a round satisfying mouth feel and great length. “Before I go any further, note well that this is not a white wine to serve fridge cold. It may not be a big oak bomb but having tasted it really cold and then as it warmed up to room temp, it hit its sweetest spot between 12 and 16 °C (54–62 °F). Like the 2019 of this wine, it's not like any other Viognier you'll come across. It smells of linden blossom and silkworm cocoons and fresh chestnuts and cobnuts. On the colder side, it tastes like sliced white peaches dipped in ice and mint leaves. As it warms, the tension in the wine turns silk and the peaches turn red. There's a cut of smoke that comes and goes like a wind-blown shadow on a white stone wall; and the finish curves back in on itself as if to say, 'let's do it again!'. But it leaves a trail of vineyard mint, the lick of rain-wet stones, a fine thread of bitterness on the finish. Underpriced. This is nowhere near as simple as it sounds when Coulshaw says, 'the aim is to make a clean, fresh wine'. It's transmitting terroir and fruit, loud and clear. Very Good Value. A beautiful glass of white from Spain’s La Mancha, this Verdejo is a notch above the rest. Made from 30 year old Verdejo vines, there is a concentration which is often missing from so many of its kind. A dry yet fresh palate with lovely floral aromas and peachy flavours, there is a roundness throughout.
