Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Macabeu from a beautiful vineyard in Calce, Roussillon blended 50/50 with Chenin Blanc from Aveyron in central France! The Chenin Blanc is from Vincent's friends at Coultades du Coustoubi. The '78' moniker comes from both postcodes being added together - 66 for Roussillon and 12 for Aveyron. The blend makes for a wine of great character with a precise, floral nose, a good body that has great tension with fine acidity. Really interesting and ultimately, hugely satisfying wine. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon Andy Cooks Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincents philosophy is a minimum of intervention To keep the fruit and the terroir. The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers.

Domaine Gayda
"Intense with a luminous ruby colour and garnet nuances, the nose reveals elegant notes of ripe black fruits and fresh red fruits, notes of black cherries and raspberry. Complex spicy notes and fine mineral smoky touches, a light and elegant infusion at low temperature. The palate is soft and light, the fruity and gourmet flavours dominate. Mineral and smoky touches bring freshness and highlight beautiful tender and perfectly integrated tannins. The result is balanced with a persistent long finish. Domaine des Trinités
A wonderful, natural Rose. Produced from very old vines of Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvedre (40/40/20) on ancient schist soils In Faugeres. Deep in colour, and with good presence, but certainly not a heavy style. Bright, clear red fruits with some spice and nice interest. That wonderful mineral freshness rounds things off nicely. Very complete and drinking nicely (this is a style that always benefits from the extra year in bottle). .

Domaine des Schistes
Grown on rocky schist soils in the commune of Estagel. West to north-west exposure. The vineyard is called 'Poux Baly'. A beautiful, bright blend of Vermentino 38%, Grenache Gris 34% and Maccabeu 28% that is utterly delicious and versatile. Medium weight with a fine, fresh length. Harvested at night into small crates and made very naturally and fermented in steel vats, with only one small addition of sulphites before bottling. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to keep the bright freshness.

l'Autantique
100% Sauvignon grown on selceted plots of argilo-calcaire soils that's harvested at night to preserve all the elegance of the grape. De-stemming, cold maceration on the skins, static draining, pneumatic pressing, settling of the must in cold conditions and fermentation with temperature control (18°C) and a few months further aging in steel tanks. Brilliant yellow colour with green tints. A wine with powerful aromas of exotic fruit on the nose, but comes on a little more citrus on the palate (lemon and grapefruit). A very good effort. Serve chilled (8°-10°C) as an aperitif, with a salad or seafood.

Axel Pauly
Axel Pauly is one of the dynamic young stars of German wine. He took over the Pauly estate from his father after having done vintages in California, New Zealand and other parts of Germany. Most of the ten hectare estate is situated in the village of Lieser in the heart of the Mosel Valley, with the exception of a small parcel in neighbouring Bernkastel. Fittingly, the label features the Mosel hills which, when turned on their side, reveals the Tres Naris (or three noses) of Axel, his father and his grandfather. Pale yellow in colour with green reflections, this an expressive Riesling that opens with aromas of blossoms, lemon, and peach. The palate is full of fresh, invigorating acidity and a mineral character that lingers on the long finish.

Cave de Cairanne
Of the "Chateauneuf satellite" villages, Cairanne is the most recently-elevated, and most undervalued, sharing a ridge with Rasteau and a plateau with Gigondas et al. This star stood out for us as truly exceptional value, with such character and depth of plummy fruit, a classic black olive and herby edge. Quite a piece at the price, it's easily the peer of its neighbours. From the superb 2021 vintage, top producer, organic, no added sulphites. Thoroughly recommended.

Vigneti del Vulture
Low yield, old vines on arid volcanic Mt Vulture up to 800m altitude. Two ancient grapes one famed in Roman times one pre-Roman (Greco = Greek, southern Italy was Hellenic before the Romans arrived, and what did they ever do for...). Basilicata is the forgotten mid-south but in wines terms it is extraordinary and fascinating. Made by a super-modern outfit, they have lifted this into proper word-class status. Aromatic, it smells like green melon and elderflower, light, no oak, pure, snappy. A triumph. Decanter: "A lush white with striking tropical notes that would be great with a peach and burrata salad, though it has the freshness to make a fine aperitif too." One of our best-selling wines - and it is obvious why!

Sottano
This is the estate's entry level Malbec and it is absolutely delicious. Ripe fruit without being jammy, there is a lots of black cherry and plum aroma with a touch of spice. Easy-going palate with mouth-filling fruit, elegant tannins and velvety mouthfeel. Very easy to drink but satisfying with BBQ or steak. Bodega Sottano was founded in 1890 by Mr. Fioravante Sottano who settled in Mendoza after moving from Italy. Today the estate is a byword for quality, modern Mendoza wines that express a delicious sense of place.

Domaine de la Côte de l'Ange
Owned by the Mestre family, Domaine de la Côte de l'Ange has been run since 1988 by Corinne Mestre and her husband Yannick Gasparri, who were joined in 2017 by their son Jules. The vineyards are situated in plots around Châteauneuf du Pape with a small parcel of Côte du Rhône. The estate runs to 13.5 hectares of vineyards in Chateauneuf du Pape and an additional 2.5 hectares of vines located in the Cotes du Rhone appellation. 1.5 hectares are devoted to the growing of white wine grapes. The remaining 12 hectares are used in the production of red Chateauneuf du Pape wine. This Tradition wine is superb, being ripe and friendly but with some concnetration and acidity necessary for ageing. Highly recommended
