A very special wine. Winemaker Vincent comes from the Loire Valley so knows about Chenin from there and time making wine in South Africa. Chenin originated in the Languedoc so bringing it back is exciting. The wine is fermented in egg shaped concrete fermenting tanks, which allows better movement of liquid during and after fermentation than in stainless steel. Some barrel ageing too for texture. Well balanced with a purity of fruit enhanced by its roundness and length.. Highly recommended.

Davide Bottai is the fourth generation to produce wine at Castellaccio, an eleven hectare estate that historically sold its grapes as bulk. Even before Davide’s recent transformational changes, the winery was already a pioneer, having converted to organic farming in 2013 at the behest of his grandfather and the previous management team. The vineyards are all high elevation for the Chianti Classico DOCG, all between 500m and 700m above sea level where sandstone and quartz dominate the soils. The eleven hectares are split between Lamole and Lucolena, including some of the highest vineyard sites, and, THE very highest vineyard site in all of Chianti Classico. All of the beautiful fruit from these outstanding, unsung and nearly-forgotten terroirs see wild fermentation in concrete before aging in various vessels - 25hl, tonneau or untoasted Burgundy barrels. The Coste di Felice 2024 sees fruit from vineyards in both Lamole and Lucolena - organic, 100% Sangiovese. The grapes are hand harvested. Grapes are sorted further and softly crushed. The wine sees a natural, wild ferment in cement tank, and after completion, is run off to large old botti (wooden cask} to age for 12 months before bottling. What gloriously pure aromas of orange zest and flowers backed up by red fruit and savoury elements. Simply glorious spring time stuff. On the palate, the attack is a similar injection of bright red fruits - so pure and seamless - until the pitch-perfect acidity, wonderful bitter notes and glorious rasp of beautifully done Sangiovese tannins kick in. This is energetic, salty, mineral wine of the highest order.

Energy is a word used a lot by the finest Roussillon growers. We don't think there has been a finer example than this extraordinary wine from the freres Danjou. The 2021 is a thrilling wine.

Notes of cherry and raspberry, with a sniff of garrigue. A delightful mouthfeel with silky tannins and notes of black fruits and spices, ending with a tangy finish and a good length. Beautiful Syrah and Carignan from the Roussillon grown on gneiss. The Syrah was destemmed and fermented then raised in 5yo oak barrels, The Carignan was fermented whole bunch then raised in stainless steel to preserve it brilliant brightness. A great En Passant.

Dom. des Trinités Le Pioch Rosé 2024 Faugères AOP is brilliant effort in 2024 - the wine not made since 2020 vintage. This harvest was helped along by our very own Kit Ruscombe-King who went out to help with the first grapes into the winery. This 2024 is a very interesting take as the team chose to use half juice that was directly pressed and half juice that was bled. This has given the wine quite a unique texture in rosé terms. You know when you eat watermelon and it's sweet and dripping down your chin and you know you're not being graceful as you gulp chin-dripping mouthfuls and then you bite deeper into the peel than you should and get this watery shock of green that makes you feel thirsty and thirst-quenched all at once, and then you bite into a shiny brown pip and it's bitter and almondy and crunchy and you're supposed to spit it out but actually you swallow it because. A unique expression of Sangiovese - a wine that is direct, with great tension and a vertebral column. Coming from the northeast slope of Lucolena, the "Lama della Rinascita" produces the most lively Sangiovese of the vintage totalling only 600 bottles (as single tonneau). This is the coolest, wettest microclimate of all of Castellaccio’s sites that brings a wine of sharp focus, a great mineral, saline profile. A wine of rock, where crisp red fruit dances with electric tension - a pure vision of Sangiovese from Lucolena magnificently realised.

Stop press! 2015 cellar release of Estaca Rouge 2015!!!! Only 30 bottles available. Be quick. Old vine Grenache grown on decomposed black schist with a limestone sub soil with some quartz, that produces something amazing. Ethereal, sublime and fresh, this achieves a level of finesse akin to fine red Burgundy. Remarkable, special, very good indeed.

Simon Coulshaw makes natural wines: no cultured yeast, enzymes, chemical tannins or fining product and farming with respect to the environment, although the domaine isn't certified organic. A funky red/white first appeared after the frost effected 2021 harvest. A much lower white crop than normal and a far fresher red one, led to this one-off cuvee from Roussanne, Grenache, Viognier and Syrah. It's fragrant, it's juicy, it's fun. It's has no adds whatsoever, not even any sulphites at bottling. This return in 2024 sees the small harvest of rich Viognier added to majority Grenache of the lighter, perfumed variety and also the whole production of Simon's 120yo Cinsault vineyard. Absolutely gorgeous wine that is a steal at this price.

The Guimberteau family has owned the Château Franc-Baudron estate since 1923. This is a vineyard on a human scale where each generation has left its footprint on the family heritage. Since 2010, the new generation of Château Franc-Baudron, Charles and Sophie Foray, have embarked on an environmental approach by converting the entire vineyard to organic farming. The area hosts bee-hives, uses plants for treatments (horsetail, nettle and ferns) and seeds flowers to encourage biodiversity of wildlife in the vines. They have begun implementing new winemaking techniques by using minimal inputs to express at its best the nature of the grapes and the type of soil. Most of the family’s plots of Montagne Saint-Emilion are located on a clay-limestone plateau. Certified Organic. 14.5% ABV Deep ruby. Pretty aromas of cherry and blackberry, vanilla. Medium -bodied and appealing, good light extraction leaves the fruit and acid to the fore and will be accessible young. Excellent value.

"Lama dell’Araldo" is a cru of 600 vines only on the southwest slope of Lamole at 600m altitude that benefits from long, sunny days that produce beautifully balanced fruit of great maturity. This site brings a wine with a well structured body with a vertebral column of vibrant acidity dictated by the altitude. The wine is aged in fine-grained tonneaux which help give a silky, elegant texture to enveloping, sunny, energetic liquid. A Sangiovese of finesse, and vibrancy. Outstanding. 600 bottles produced.

Natural, biodynamic and vegan. Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre from 80 year old vines, Made without filtering or fining. Pale but gorgeous mid red colour. At first on the nose, you are like "What even is that?". Whatever it is, you know that you like it. Elegant, subtle fruit is intermixed with gentle herb, earth and savoury charachters. Deep and wonderful. On the palate the wine is elegant and deep again, but not heavy in the slightest. Ruffled fruit and savoury notes with minerality and real finesse. These wines are like no other from the Roussillon. Outstanding. Magnum sized.

Pech Mege is a silky, focussed wine showing deep red fruits and the fresh minerality which is a characteristic of the schist soil of their vineyards.

100% old vine Carignan that was bred all in concrete tanks. Notes of leather, black cherries, plums and savoury herbs all emerge from this medium-bodied, fresh, lively wine. This is seamless and gorgeous stuff from Daniel Laffite. It would cost twice the price if it was from Priorat.

100% Carignan from 80 year old vines. Complex floral aromas. On the palate the fruits, such as raspberry and morello cherry, are crunchy and fresh. There is also a very strong stony/mineral feeling. The finish is long and pure. A vibrant wine.

This Syrah blend with soft black fruits and spice has been shaped by the sunbaked rocky soils of the Languedoc hinterland. A herbal, spicy bouquet is followed by youthful red cherries and supple mineral character derived from the schist rich soils.

"Lennino" revisits an original "local recipe", blending Sangiovese - selected annually from the estate's top-performing crus - with 30% Trebbiano and Malvasia. In the 2024 vintage, the white grapes macerated for two months, extracting a flavour and texture that adds to the concentration in a charming, unique way. The result is a crystal-clear wine that evokes the finesse of a Fleurie, a Pinot Noir or a Poulsard, combining the joy of complex "glou-glou" with a deep and heartfelt historical nod. Unique, exciting and quite brilliant.

This natural wine has a complex nose of citrus fruit, lemon zest and citrus blossoms along with hint of tropical fruits, herbs and sweet spices. Fresh, crisp and lovely minerality on the finish.

50% Muscat d'Alexandre and 50% Muscat a Petit Grains fermented on skins. "Light orange in colour, this blend of two Muscats (Petit Grains and Alexandria macerated for 14 days) is fragrant and perfectly pitched, with gorgeous notes of orange peel, dried leaves, apricot and mango. It's so well balanced, being both floral and a little rusty and leafy. The palate is concentrated, with really good presence and a long, spicy, cumin-infused finish. It's still fruity enough not to be overtly savoury, but also not massively flowery and exotic. It's so spicy! 95% Nerello Mascalese from a vineyard located on the south-western slope of the Etna volcano, in the town of Biancavilla, within the Etna D.O.C. in Sicily. Rustic, mineral, even herbal , but with a smooth and generous fruity core.

This is lovely, gluggable Nero d'Avola from a sustainable winery in Sicily that is making excellent value certified organic wines for everyday drinking. We'll drink to that!

Outstanding Vin Santo produced from half Trebbiano and half Malvasia trained to guyot and grown organically in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Argiano at an altitude of 300m. The grapes were hand-picked on September 20th 2017 and were placed on bamboo racks to dry for four months until they were gently pressed the following January and run off to ferment and breed on 110l 'Caratelli' barrels for the next five years. The wine was bottled in Febuary 2023. Only 436 37.5cl bottles were produced in total. The wine came out at 13.5 % abv with a residual sugar level of 290 g/l and a total acidity of 6.3 g/l. You know you are on to something special when Monica Larner of erobertparker.com writes of the wine "This is an extremely precious production of just 400 bottles (tiny 375-milliliter bottles), and I am honored to review this wine....an excellent and precious Vin Santo del Chianti Classico". We feel very honoured to have 120 of these truly wonderful little bottles to share with you.

Sixth generation Francoise Antech has taken this excellent producer to even greater heights, championing the Limoux region and Mauzac grape variety around the globe. The UK is the family's largest market , now looked after by seventh generation Baptiste. This is the first priced wine in a range of their Blanquettes and Cremants that we recommend. Blanquette de Limoux has a claim to being one of the world's oldest sparkling wines, with legend dating its creation to 1531.

This exceptional vintage-dated Rosé is crafted from a careful blend of 60% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin, and 20% Pinot Noir. A subtle combination of Mediterranean and Pyrenean vineyard parcels, this wine is crafted to perfection with a dosage of 6g/L (Extra Brut), offering a refined and crisp profile. Entirely handpicked in the morning, cooled and directly pressed and fermented separately in stainless steel. Pinot Noir macerated briefly to give light salmon colour. Second fermentation in bottle for 18 months in temperature-controlled cellars. For 7 generations, the FAMILY ANTECH has made great sparkling wines on the slopes of Limoux. Francoise now heads the family business with her son Baptiste.

Natural, organic Grenache from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon blended 50/50 with Fer Servadou from Aveyron in central France! The Fer Servadou is from Vincent's friends at Coultades du Coustoubi. The '78' moniker comes from both postcodes being added together - 66 for Roussillon and 12 for Aveyron. The blend makes for a beautifully aromatic wine with deep fruit, delicious, savoury and wholesome tannins in a really interesting, delightful wine. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention "To keep the fruit and the terroir.". The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling "It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers".
