Mosel Eiswein becomes rarer as the climate warms. What a joy - lashings of richness and plump zesty ripe citrus fruit. Amazing value. Impossibly ancient family grower

Basket Range
This is a very small production, produced from a 0.25 ha block of Chardonnay, situated on a gentle northeast-facing slope behind the winery. It comprises of two clones (g9v7 and Antav95), which were picked together. Whole bunch-pressed, settled then racked off gross solids to French oak barriques (50% new) for fermentation. The wine was on solids for 11 months, with some lees stirring. Four barriques were selected. 100 dozen produced. Only 84 bottles for the UK market. Review by Tony Love at Winepilot 2025 SA Wine Guide "A tiny volume, four-barrique selection from the pioneering Basket Range estate vineyard. Excellent Hills Chardonnay aromas: some nutty cashew, white nectarine and citrus in concert - a pure expression, with nicely tightened palate still with a 30% new oak note and subtle breadiness. Plenty to take in, yet refreshing and moreish at the same time. Bang on. Drink now - 2030." 94/100 Points "2023 was such a protracted vintage - something more of the 80s than most these days being warmer and earlier. They are really starting to show nicely now - longer ripening windows giving more phenological ripeness rather than the royal fruit forward style of warmer vintages". Sholto Broderick

Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Grenache Noir from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in tank. Floral, pretty and minerally fresh red fruits with soft texture and generous fruit. Really delightful Grenache. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention "To keep the fruit and the terroir.". The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling "It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers".

The vineyard is planted to approximately 50% Pinot Noir, over different aspects and soil types. This wine comes from vines planted on the south and southeast facing blocks and is a combination of MV6 and 777 clones. This block has a cooler, more protected aspect, enabling extended ripening flavour and tannin. This wine reflects a cooler vintage, with a delicate fruit and an elegant structure. Winemaking: The fruit parcels of fruit were fermented in 2000L vats with a small proportion of whole bunch use, given the cooler year. Maceration for approximately two-three weeks, with gentle pump- overs used twice daily for cap management. The wine was matured in French oak (25% new) for 10 months before blending. 120 dozen produced. 196 bottles for the UK. Review by Tony Love at Winepilot 2025 SA Wine Guide "From estate blocks where longer ripening occurs, enhancing the varietal aromatics which sit a little deeper in the wine - take your time to reveal what appears to be a terroir note of alpine herbs and florals. The fruit is darker cherry with good acidity balance and soft tannins. Good substance here in a delicate framework. 12.6% alc. Drink now - 2032" 94/100 Points "The 2023 were such a protracted vintage - something more of the 80s than most these days being warmer and earlier. Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Grenache from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon blended 50/50 with Fer Servadou from Aveyron in central France! The Fer Servadou is from Vincent's friends at Coultades du Coustoubi. The '78' moniker comes from both postcodes being added together - 66 for Roussillon and 12 for Aveyron. The blend makes for a beautifully aromatic wine with deep fruit, delicious, savoury and wholesome tannins in a really interesting, delightful wine. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. A perfect example of mid-Mosel dry Riesling - but without the alcohol. Delicate white peach fruit, cool slate minerality. Pale, deft and zesty and enticing.

Pinot Noir from our vineyard (40%) and Syrah from the Deanery vineyard (60%). Both parcels were direct-pressed, settled and racked to seasoned French oak hogsheads for fermentation with 7 months maturation on lees. The wine underwent full MLF, creating a rosé with complexity and mid-palate texture, in a year which leaned towards lighter-bodied wines. Mike Bennie on The Wine Front: "From syrah and Pinot Noir, the duo matured and fermented in barrels. Lovely Shotlo Broderick on the tiller. It’s a grippy, dry rosé leaning into rose hip tea territory and splashing around a little bitter-sweet and dry cranberry drink too. Scents like that, flavours like that, spreads wide in the palate and tightens on a spread of light, terracotta tannin. A dash of woody spice emerges too. It’s very easy to like, its got depth and interest on its side". La Bastide Saint Dominique
Aromas of flaky pastry and apricot, then powerful on the palate, with rich, unctuous baked apricot fruit. There's good, deep-set acidity within and it finishes dry with a luxurious spread across the palate. Classic white Châteauneuf that has sufficient interest and flavour even without any oak. Drink young. Fermented then aged in stainless steel.

Domaine Odyssee
Mas Almes x Domaine Odyssée is Vincent's Carreras' TRULY exciting collab release of 2025. I mean, the collabs are always exciting and excellent quality, but this REALLY surpassed all expectations. We thought the wine Vincent selected would be exciting, but nothing quite set us up for tasting this wine in early May 2025. At CWM we ship some of the very best value aged Roussillon sweet wines. We're very happy to say, here is another outstanding and outstanding value example. Bravo Vincent. Les Larmes du Soleil Rivesaltes Ambré - Hors d'Age - 15 years old, from Malvoisie and Muscat d'Alexandrie From Vincent Carreras: "For three years, between 2018 and 2021, before moving to the (current) Torreilles winery, I was able to set up my suitcases, or rather my vats, with Louis Rigaill, at Mas Almes, who kindly welcomed me. Being in the midst of a transition, I was able to continue structuring my project. At the back of his cellar, there were about forty barrels containing real treasures.... old sweet wines had been sleeping there for over 10 years. Louis allowed me to select the barrels of my choice and create a unique blend. So I thank him for his welcome, his advice, his generosity, and his patience with me over these three years, it's important for me to thank him in my own way, through collaboration. Cheers, Louis! Enjoy your retirement!"

An Auslese from a vineyard as revered as the Bernkasteler Badstube, with almost a decade of ageing under its belt, is a vanishingly rare find at this price. The typical clarity of Riesling shines through, with lime marmalade accompanying a plethora of ripe fruit notes - pineapple, cantaloupe melon, physalis. A delight now, but this has a long life ahead of it.

Famille Perrin
From the beautiful National Park which straddles Provence, between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, this Rosé is very provencale. Light, airy, graceful and very drinkable. The fragrant nose reveals hints of red fruit and cherries. Lively and long in the mouth, it is very aromatic with great acidity that brings freshness.

Thistledown
The Distant Light is what keeps many of us moving forward. It is the faint, twinkling lights of a harbour, gently beckoning home weary fishermen after time at sea. It is the comforting glow of a wood fire burning post a long, winter’s walk. It is the dazzling, azure blue of the ocean, glimpsed through gullies after a long drive to the coast. It is the streak of light on the horizon, viewed from a hilltop vineyard, ushering in a new dawn. This textural beauty is made with grapes from old vines, a detailed, complex tapestry of vineyards comprising young and old, trellised and bush-vine, their common thread being vibrant, energetic fruit that is concentrated but balanced. Viticulture The Grenache comes from Sue Trott’s Home Block in Blewitt Springs and Bernard Smart’s vineyard in Clarendon. The former bush vine on sand and the latter bush vine of clay loams with quartz and ironstone. The Shiraz components come from Joel Mattschoss’ Shiraz on Mengler’s Hill and 2 blocks of Andy Kalleske’s blocks in Koonunga/Ebenezer. All are trellised, 2 spur pruned, Joel’s cane pruned. Winemaking Though the winemaking was hugely detailed, the aim was to create something seamless. All fruit was hand-picked and wild fermented with varying percentage of whole bunch and a generally gentle extraction process. Ageing in a mix of concrete and larger French oak. No fining or filtration. 97 points - TOP WINES OF THE YEAR - Vinous/ Wine Pilot (Angus Hughson) 96 points - The Real Review 94 points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Château de Rouanne

In a nutshell: this is from St Cosme, one of the most famous ancient estates in Gigondas, widely regarded as world-class wines. Like some other forward-looking successful estates they have sought additional, cooler vineyards up in the hills. Vinsobres is an obvious choice, much like Rasteau but with elevation and cooler. Perrin-Beaucastel set up there many years ago. Tastes like a fresher version of Gigondas, costs about half. St Cosme is one of the top three Gigndas estates. The Barruol family have been in Gigondas since 1490. The house, where it foundations at least, were the original Roman villa of Gigondas. Visiting and tasting at such an iconic winery holds the inevitable risk of over-rating the wines, in a star-struck glow. Beautiful estate, pristine vineyards, epic reviews, lovely people, 2000 year-old Roman winemaking room in the basement - frankly, impressive. I tasted pragmatically with a thoroughly businesslike approach and to be fair, I'd be happy to stock every single wine they showed me, and I know our customers would love them too. It's pretty rare to score full marks across the whole range!

Coming from Gascony, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees mountains. The oceanic climate and gravelly soil allow this region to produce the best Sauvignon Blanc in France. To preserve the finesse of the aromas, the grapes are harvested during the night. Pale straw yellow with green highlights. Intense nose with strong pink grapefruit and exotic fruits aromas (pineapple). Full of fruits on the palate, with a nice freshness and a lemony aftertaste.

Chateau de Beaucastel
The 30 hectares of Coudoulet are located just east of the vineyard of Beaucastel on the other side of the A7 motorway. For reasons that have now become obvious, Coudoulet is often considered the baby Beaucastel. The Coudoulet soil has many similarities to that of Beaucastel. It is made out of Molasse seabed covered by diluvial alpine deposits. These pebbles called 'Galets Roulés' play a big role: They take in the heat during the day and let it if off slowly at night which gives a good start to the vines in the Spring.

Classic, bright, crunchy black cherry fruited Dolcetto. Lots of fruit with good acidity making this such a good food wine and we feel best served on the cool side. Is great with charcuterie and copes with tomato based sauces too.

We love this Piquepoul Rosé! Though only 250 acres of this rare grape remain, Piquepoul Noir has been grown in Southern France for centuries. It is originally from the Languedoc and is one of the 13 grapes permitted in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Piquepoul Rosé Foncalieu 2024 has a very pale pink colour. It is light bodied and clean with refreshing acidity, bright rose petal aromas and citrus notes. Delicious wine.

Domaine de Pellehaut
From Gascony's leading privately-owned wine estate, this great rosé has a lovely clove spiciness and makes for an excellent dinner wine. Pale pink with salmon tints. Very expressive nose of raspberry to jammy strawberry with a hint of rhubarb and mint, evocative of red-fruit ices and sorbets. All that’s missing from the palate is the sugar in this rounded, lingering and refreshing fruit coulis. A pleasant wine whatever the occasion.

Domaine des Trinités
Dom. des Trinités Le Pioch Rosé 2024 Faugères AOP is brilliant effort in 2024 - the wine not made since 2020 vintage. This harvest was helped along by our very own Kit Ruscombe-King who went out to help with the first grapes into the winery. This 2024 is a very interesting take as the team chose to use half juice that was directly pressed and half juice that was bled. This has given the wine quite a unique texture in rosé terms. A fantastic note below on jancisrobinson.com by Tamlyn Currin really gets the pleasure to be had with this wine. Full bottle 1,139 g. Clear-glass bottle. 40% Cinsault, 40% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre. Non-certified organic. "Peaches and watermelon with a brightness and clarity that seems to sparkle like cut glass in sunlight. Pellucid. And yum! You know when you eat watermelon and it's sweet and dripping down your chin and you know you're not being graceful as you gulp chin-dripping mouthfuls and then you bite deeper into the peel than you should and get this watery shock of green that makes you feel thirsty and thirst-quenched all at once, and then you bite into a shiny brown pip and it's bitter and almondy and crunchy and you're supposed to spit it out but actually you swallow it because. That's this rosé". 16.5/20 jancisrobinson.com
