Parker 93+ ...5% of the barrels were produced with American oak at the Vega Sicilia cooperage. The new winery was 100% ready and now has much better facilities. The élevage lasted 12 months, and this has contained ripeness and integrated oak. The year had freshness and balance and helped to produce lighter and more expressive wines, like this one. This has to be one of the finest vintages for this cuvée.

The wine receives 6 months ageing in a combination of French (for spicy flavours) and American (for vanilla flavours) oak barrels. Textbook Ribera del Duero...on the nose there is a backdrop of cherry and plums with added spice and leather. On the palate it is a medium to full-bodied, silky smooth style.

Dominio de Pingus
PSI is the latest personal project of Peter Sisseck. He embarked himself on a new quest: to produce a wine under a new perspective and at the same time capturing the soul of Ribera del Duero. The new winery was then born in 2007, with the idea of creating a new, relatively inexpensive wine, that he will make in cooperation with local growers, working on the fundamentals of organic and biodynamic viticulture. They will employ longer and gentler macerations to get the most harmonious extraction as possible, and avoid the use of new wood with no attempt to give pride of place to the wood, giving priority to the fruit, the freshness and the finesse. Clear and clean aromas of blue fruits on the nose, raspberry and licorice complemented by some spice notes. Soft and pleasant entry on the palate, good acidity and lively black fruit flavours. Very expressive with very fine tannins. Made from Tinto Fino (the grape that established the region’s fame, also called Tinta del Pais, a local variant of Rioja’s Tempranillo) and a tiny small percentage of Grenache, mostly older vines from 630 plots from 21 different villages. Made at seven different cellers using two selection tables and their own tanks. Vinification takes place in traditional concrete tanks and has aged during 18 months in a mix of second and third year oak barrels used for the Pingus and also in large Foudres, avoiding voluntarily the use of new wood.
