Blandy's
A unique blend only made by Blandy’s, combining the islands Bual & Malmsey varietals, Blandy's 5 year old Reserva was aged in American oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' system. This comprises of the gentle heating of the wine in the lofts of the lodges in Funchal. Over the years the wine is transferred from the top floors to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine underwent racking and fining before the blend was assembled and bottled. Decanter 2020 Gold Medal winner

"The non-vintage 10-Year-Old Malmsey has an introspective, marmalade, fig and burnt sugar-scented bouquet that gently unfurls in the glass. The palate is very well-balanced, with a viscous entry that lacquers the mouth. The acidity is very well-judged, lending the finish a sense of poise and tension that neatly counterbalances the richness and precocity. This is very well-made." 90 points (Robert Parker Wine Advocate).

"Packed with aromas of raisins, butterscotch and vanilla. Mouth-filling concentrated flavours of maple syrup, figs, caramel and sugared walnuts. Sweet but with a streak of acid verve. Beautifully balanced with an endless finish and lovely complexity."(IWSC).

"The non-vintage 10-Year-Old Verdelho has a delightful, resinous bouquet with touches of mahogany bureau and hazelnut. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry, with vibrant acidity, and demonstrates more depth and chutzpah than its counterpart Sercial. The finish is focused with a subtle smoky note lingering after the wine has departed" (Robert Parker Wine Advocate).
