Vondeling Wines
The Vondeling Babiana is predominantly made from old chenin blanc vines planted in 1986. Their age and low yield ensure consistent quality and concentration, which is why it forms the backbone of this blend. The fullness of the Chenin Blanc is tempered by the verve and high aromatics of the Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Roussanne. Platter's 2021 South African Wine Guide, 5 stars - Regular quartet, chenin with viognier, roussanne & grenache blanc, difference lies in vintage variation. Glorious 2019 symphonic assembly of honeyed spice fragrance, weighty silk texture, the layered complexity gaining futher depth from fine acid line. Natural ferment in oak, 8 months on lees, 4 months as a blend. 2018 (92 points) also gorgeous.

Champagne Pierre Bertrand
A small family grower in the famous village of Cumieres in the Marne valley. Pinot-dominated (like most wines from this village), it shows a deep copper/gold colour and gorgeously aromatic. The palate is wonderfully peachy and lush whilst being bright and explosively juicy! The extended bottle-ageing of this wine (6-8 years) is rather longer most NV Champagnes and lends the wine its weight and character. But it's also fresh and lemony, making for a great combination. Judges on a Decanter tasting panel were particularly wowed by this Cuvée when tasting it blind with other Grower Champagnes in 2017, ALL giving it 98/100 points and the wine also went on to regarded as one of Decanter’s very favourite bottles of the year. We love it too and have been shipping it direct from the Bertrand family since 2008.

Luigi Oddero
Bright, ruby-red coloured with a gentle orange tinge. Delicate, but intense aromas of dried rose petal and sweet spice. Dry, soft and near velvety on the palate with great balance, finesse, and elegance. "This elegant red has enticing scents of wild berry, blue flower, botanical herb and baking spice. Savory and focused, the palate features sour cherry, cranberry and star anise framed in taut, refined tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2024 - 2031". 95/100 Kerin O’Keefe in Wine Enthusiast "Treiso. Just mid ruby. Cool, yet concentrated raspberry fruit on the nose. Elegant, supple full raspberry palate that is still a little tight. Rich coating tannins that fit the fragrant full fruit like a glove. Stunning balance and depth, and still light of touch. Just at the beginning of its development". 18/20 Walter Speller on jancsirobinson.com

Smells like LUXURY! Super-low yield Barbera from the best sunny spots, some serious winemaking and a lick of posh new oak. What a beauty. What a bargain. Dark, silky, last time I had a Barbera this rich and lush was in California, and it cost 3 tines as much! Nizza is a new top-end DOCG created to separate the best plots of Barbera - great success.

Fonseca
In the mouth the rich, delicious fruitiness of this wine combines with grainy, beautifully integrated tannins to produce an unbridled eruption of texture and flavor. Similarly to the Fonseca Vintage Ports and the Guimaraens Vintage Ports, blended from the wines of its three estates, the company also offers rich, velvety Single Quinta Vintage Ports produced entirely from the produce of Quinta do Panascal. These are the pure expression of the estate's terroir. Like the Guimaraens Vintage Ports, these are made in years that produce smoother, more accessible wines that do not need to be stored for a long time before being enjoyed. Situated on the steep right bank of the river Távora, Quinta do Panascal is one of the most renowned vineyards in the Douro region. In the words of a saying, "From Roncão and Panascal come the best wines of Portugal".

Gonzalez Byass
Viña AB is a young Amontillado which has experienced both ageing under flor and oxidative ageing. Due to the contact with oxygen it has taken on a light amber colour. On the nose subtle and delicate with typical Palomino aromas of hazelnuts, and slight reminders of yeast due to its time under the flor. On the palate Viña AB shows subtle notes of oak due to the 12 years spent in cask. Pleasant with a balanced acidity. Long aftertaste with slight saltiness and bitterness on the finish

Domaine des Trinités
Possibly the last Rosé to be produced at Trinités? The wine has always been produced for the home market, for the restaurants and bars, in all the major cities. But since the market for such in the last few years has dried up/been somewhat difficult, vigneron Simon Coulshaw has decided to take a break for a while. This 2020 is unlike any previous effort, mostly explained below in Tamlyn Currin's note for jancisrobinson.com. It really is truly wonderful Rosé with real minerality, precision and class. an absolute stunner. 40% Cinsault, 40% Grenache Noir, 20% Mourvèdre. Hand-picked, organically and biodynamically farmed grapes. 100% saignée ie no pressing, just bleeding from the tanks. Winemaker Simon Coulshaw points out that the distinct difference in colour between the 2019 and 2020 (the latter being distinctly lighter in colour) is purely down to the maturity of the anthocynanins in the grapes. In 2019 he left the grapes for an hour and the colour was already dark; in 2020 it spent three or four hours and still didn't throw much colour. Bone dry (less than 0.5 g RS). "This is an outstanding rosé. If only Languedoc producers would sit up and take notice – this is what you can do with rosé. Real wine. Real depth, real texture, acidity so full and exciting and ripe that it made me want to helter skelter, go boogie on Brighton Pier, lick seashells dipped in raspberry sherbet, make cherry bombs filled with lime sorbet and eat them sitting fully clothed in the sea with salt on my tongue and fingers and toes. All of which sounds like fun fun fun, but don't be deceived. This is a serious wine, framed in spice and pink-grapefruit-peel bitterness. Very Good Value (TC)". Château Franc-Baudron
The Guimberteau family has owned the Château Franc-Baudron estate since 1923. This is a vineyard on a human scale where each generation has left its footprint on the family heritage. Since 2010, the new generation of Château Franc-Baudron has embarked on an environmental approach by converting the entire vineyard to organic farming. The area hosts bee-hives, uses plants for treatments (horsetail, nettle and ferns) and seeds flowers to encourage biodiversity of wildlife in the vines. They have begun implementing new winemaking techniques by using minimal inputs to express at its best the nature of the grapes and the type of soil. Most of the family’s plots of Montagne Saint-Emilion are located on a clay-limestone plateau. Bright and intense in colour with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and oak notes.Well balanced, powerful and velvety.

Domaine La Loyane
A blend of Clairette 70% and Grenache 30%. 80 year old vines are planted in mixed soils of red sand, clay and round pebbles. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinification takes place in 100% old wooden casks. The wine is matured in large ‘demi-muid’ barrels for 6 months on the lees. Domaine La Lôyane was voted Winemaker of the Year in 2018 by the Guide Hachette, France's wine bible. La Lôyane refers to the place where the estate is built, a place formerly occupied by wolves! The estate, founded in 1994, is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, near Avignon in the Lirac cru. The Dubois family has been cultivating its 20 hectares of vines there for 4 generations! And the last, with Romain Dubois, has cnverted the estate to organic farming. An extremely precise estate, which is constantly moving upmarket and producing wines from vines that are sometimes more than a century old!

Vondeling Wines
The wine has a bright hue with a golden straw colour. It displays a refreshing nose of bright pear and peach blossoms with subtle lemon meringue and notes of freshly rolled oats. A full-bodied wine with great palate tension. Crisp apple and chalky citrus are infused with mild layers of Crème Brulé, spun sugar and floral potpourri. The flavours are vibrant, and the finish refined Vineyard This tiny, tree-lined vineyard is tucked away in the upper valley of the Vondeling farm, protected from harsh sunlight and extreme temperatures, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. These moderate temperatures help preserve the grape’s natural acidity and fresh citrus aromas. The yields are kept low to eliminate stress in the vine and ensure good, uniform ripeness. The soil is made up entirely of well-weathered granite. Vinification All grapes are picked at optimum ripeness in the early hours of the morning. They are then packed into a cold room to be chilled further for processing the following day. The grapes are whole bunch pressed, which reduces the absorption of coarse phenolics and helps retain more of the grape’s natural vibrancy. The juice is not settled, but sent directly to 400-litre French oak barrels where spontaneous wild yeast fermentation takes place. No sulphur is added and the wine typically undergoes partial malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured on its yeast lees for 7 months after which it is blended to tank, then returned to barrel for a further 4 months. The wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended to tank for a further 3 months for improved stabilisation before bottling

Domaine Fournillon
Pascal Fournillon is a sweet-natured man, always happy when people find him in the sleepy hamlet of Bernouil, some 10 miles north-east of Chablis town. His mum also makes the best gougeres if you need further incentive. Pascal's vineyards cover some 23 hectares of land in the appellations of Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru and Epineuil. He is bottling more and more of his own wine rather than selling in bulk and this means we have access to good allocations of Chablis that Pascal is happy to age for us for a few years till it is perfect to drink. This Bourgogne Chardonnay is from vineyards near Chablis and bears all the hallmarks of it; steely, lemony, fine and elegant.

Chateau Haut Boutisse
Château Haut Boutisse, Saint Emilion Grand Cru, is a family property that has existed since the middle of the 19th century. Located on the foothills of Saint Emilion, the soil (Graves, clay-limestone and sandy loam) is similar to the greatest properties in Saint-Emilion.. A beautiful garnet colour. The complex nose presents a beautiful synergy between aromas of jammy strawberry and rose accompanied by fine smoky notes and dried figs. The mouth has a very nice balance between volume and freshness. The harvest is done manually. Vinification is a cold pre-fermentation maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with pumping over/punching down. The wine is aged for 15 months in new barrels (90%) and concrete vats (10%).

Domaine Vendome
There are many delightul Northern Rhone whites from 2023 and this is very much one of them. Performing very well in Crozes-Hermitage tastings in both Terres des Vins and La Revue du vin de France, well up amongst the big boys and girls of the appellation. 70% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne - half from loess soils on l'Homme at Larnage, half from loess soils on Les Pinets at Crozes-Hermitage. 90% steel vat, 10% new 600-litre oak cask fermented, raised 9 months, assembled just before bottling, malo completed. "fine yellow robe; the bouquet has a neat aroma of cooked citrus fruit, is graceful, appealing, carries a light nuttiness. The palate links well, is fresh and continuous, bears lightly salted, delicate content of white fruits with jasmin, white flower trembles through it. It’s elegant, well made, a bel ensemble, is precise, accurate, ends with soft gras, a bonny exit. 13°. 70% Mars, 30% Rouss. 2029-30 Oct 2024" **** John Livingstone-Learmonth on Drink Rhone "13% alcohol. 70% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne. Organic. This is textured, lively and vital with a fine lime and spice finish after a big flow of pear, melon and ripe apple fruit. Good concentration of flavour, interleaving subtly saline, mineral notes with ripe fruit to good effect". 94/100 Jamie Goode wineanorak.com

The average age of the final blend is around two years Honeysuckle and citrus scents are immediately apparent Slight aromas of nougat, roasted nuts and a hint ofstrawberry from the Pinot Noir. Classic Manzanilla that needs to be served cold & drunk asap after purchasing. It'll keep in the fridge for around 4 days but it seldom lasts that long! Grab some green olives & some charcuterie & get stuck in. Pale lemon. M+ aroma intensity. Archetypal w. almond, green apple. Yeasty flor notes of salinity, green olive & sea spray. Fully developed (do not age, they've done that for you!). Dry. Low acidity. Green apple & almond. Salty, fresh, moreish!
