Also much less expensive - quite the hidden gem as this is a tiny DOCG, the smallest of the Alba cluster. Our charming Ricossa Barberesco is all wild strawberry and resolved tannin, a joy with rare meat.

A great follow up to the excellent 2020 vintage from this petit chateau that shows what great value can be found at the lower prices in Bordeaux. Velvety tannins and sweet blackcurrant fruit, it's very approachable although young and ready to drink.

Striking the perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, this excellent, off-dry Riesling typifies the variety. Cool, juicy and possessed of a gentle florality.

Fresh aromas with blackcurrant and pepper overtones. Smooth and medium bodied with a good roundness and lingering finish. Red meats, cheese and spicy meals.

The Crusher Pinot Noir is powerfully aromatic, with notes of pomegranate, rose petal and nutmeg. Juicy and spicy on the palate, this wine exudes flavours of plum, glazed strawberry and cinnamon bread from 12 months of French oak aging.

Made from the native Sicilian grape Nero d'Avola around 30% of which are 'Passito' (ie dried virtually to raisins before pressing) this is lush, juicy and very moreish with a hint of bitter chocolate and sweet black cherry character.

Opaque and ruby red in colour, Woolloomooloo Shiraz displays a nose of smoky, ripe berry fruits with a touch of mint. Smooth and rich on the palate with spicy flavours of luscious dark berry fruits. Vegan.

This open, expressive spaetlese perfectly demonstrates the quality of the iconic Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Succulent, like an over-ripe pear, with mint and mineral notes, cool and bright with tight lime acidity.

Lovely easy to drink refreshing fizz with a little apple and pear on the nose, cleansing acidity and plenty of froth.

A small family-run bodega near the village of Navarrete, in the heart of Rioja D.O.C., making wines of great integrity and some finesse. It was founded in 1918 and is today run by Antonio Navajas and his wife. This is a big favourite of many of our customers and on a 'value for money' basis it is not hard to understand why.

Navajas is a family-run estate, situated outside the small town of Navarrete in La Rioja Alta. Antonio Navajas makes quintessential Rioja - soft, round and oaky. This is a superb example of a crianza combining ripe, sweet fruit with vanillin scented oak.

Pale, deft and zesty and enticing. A perfect example of mid-Mosel dry Riesling - delicate white peach fruit, cool slate minerality. Top grower, all estate fruit.

An absolutely pitch-perfect old vine Grenache from McLaren Vale from the top team at Thistledown. Beautiful, lifted and perfumed fruit with some high-toned herbal notes from the inclusion of 30% whole-bunch. On the palate this little Devil shows utter, glorious drinkability that comes from serious, but hands off - with nothing forced - top, top winemaking. The wine has the characteristic McLaren Vale perfume and spice with a beguiling texture and perfume that unfolds, layer by layer. This delicately hued red is very elegant with vibrant wild strawberry, spice and silky texture. Outstanding. An utter bargain and a dream of a drink. 10/10. 100% Viognier from Les Méjeans next to the winery on mix of kaolin white clay, argile calcaire and also decayed granite just above where the northern boundary of Crozes-Hermitage dips southward on the map, but the elevation remains high at 350m in between Gervans and Larnage, just a little to the north. Hand harvested in early morning, steel vat fermented at 18°C, raised 9 months, malo blocked. What a lovely wine from a unique, interesting terroir. A quite serious but relaxed and lovely, aromatic, floral, juicy but bright drinking Viognier with a gentle, gorgeous creaminess on the finish. Delicious as an apero or with semi hard goats cheese, peaches and charcuterie. A classy drop indeed.

Intense aged Fino, laced with scents of the sea and profound “flor” aromas. Clean and fresh, with a slight taste of tangy yeast. An excellent aperitif or accompaniment to “tapas” such as ham, almonds or cheese. Try it also with seafood, sushi and sashimi.

Deep coloured, the wine exhibits dark ripe fruit characters as well as truffle, spice and subtle toasted oak on the palate. A fulsome, structured and well rounded Pinot Noir with a soft acidity and generous mouthfeel

Wonderfully fresh and floral, tastes of elderflower and cool grapes. Very soft, not too acidic like many NZ SBs at this price.

Crazy good-value new Pinot from Plantagenet Wines, a long-established and famed Western Oz family winery. Very, very good value at half the price of their signature wines - rarely in the wine world is one so surprised at a Pinot Noir being so underpriced. Plantagenet, founded 1974, have been awarded 5-Star Winery status ten years running by Australia's leading wine critic James Halliday. All fruit hand-picked and estate-grown, just a little oak, a fine, proud example of cool-climate Oz Pinot.

"I knew our terroirs very well, and knew that we could exploit them to the full. With Romain’s experience of vinifications all around the world, I was happy to launch the domaine". Gérald Delhome "This is an interesting newcomer to the ranks in the northern sector of Crozes-Hermitage, with vineyards in the communes of Crozes itself, Larnage, Gervans and Erôme. There are almost 11.5 hectares of Crozes across 20 plots, Romain is the fifth generation; his great-grandfather Flavien Delhome had vineyards, while, on his mother’s side there were vineyards under her family in the shape of Severin Habrard, so there are two old roots at play here". Father Gérald took over the domaine in 1993, and concentrated on apricots and vines, the grape harvest sent to the Cave de Tain. Son Romain came on to the domaine in 2018; he had worked locally at Gigondas and in the Ventoux at Chêne Bleu, as well as in Virginia in the USA. The cellar was built in 2019. The domaine is HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) registered, a green credential, and the 2022 harvest will be officially organic. 100% Roussanne planted (only 0.3ha) on the very special and unique white Kaolin soils of Chateau de Larnage. This is phenomenal wine from such a young vine (planted in 2018). When looking at the 2022 vintage of this wine our senior buyer Stewart Travers thought the vines need to come on a little to show the terroir a little more to stand up in the market. We were literally knocked straight off of our feet on tasting the 2023 vintage, the vines and the fruit from this wonderful terroir have come on LEEPS and BOUNDS. Deep golden yellow colour, full, rich nose of flowers, quince and a touch of warm spice. Juicy and impressively deep on the palate with the fine acid brilliantly and elegantly holding everything finely in tune on the utterly delightful finish. What a wine, and simply another reason why we so look forward to following Dom. Delhome. Young Romain is a star!

Really unusual, quite light-bodied and super-complex. Flavours of vermouth and orange marmalade. Tame on the tannin. Amazing.

Harmonious with an enveloping length of taste.

A lovely Burgundy white with notes of orchard fruits, citrus, and vanilla with crisp acidity. The Prudhon family is one of the oldest in the village of Saint-Aubin. The vineyard has been passed down through the generations and today, the domaine covers 15 hectares of vineyards, spread out over Saint-Aubin and its neighbouring communes Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Very good Rioja that offers superb value. One year in a mixture of French and American oak barrels, adds texture and flavour to the tempranillo dominant blend from one of Rioja's most consistent producers.

Vivid black-purple, all the tarry plum-skin beauty of Syrah with cinnamon and a bit of vanilla oak, best of all a proudly generous portion of ripe tannin to hold it all together. Genius. You'd never find a Barossa Shiraz this good at the price!

Traditional Douro grape varieties Bright red colour with a golden rim. A rich and aromatic nose made up of dried fruit, hazelnut and walnut, well combined with hints of spice. In the mouth, intense, smooth and delicious flavours of dried fruit are offset by a fresh note of candied orange peel. Good structure, fine balance and remarkable acidity. A pleasant and enduring finish.

A classic Spanish white - 100% Verdejo Temperature controlled fermentation preserves the fresh lemon and melon fruit; fruity but fresh great value. Great with seafood, and a lovely summer drinker.

This wine comes from a vineyard called "Le Ratanaud" composed of blue clay. These hillsides, located between 330 and 350m altitude have a south exposition, which bring freshness and perfect maturity to the wine. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. They are fully destemmed then fermented in concrete tanks. Vatting time is between 28 to 35 days with daily grape-treading and pumping-over. Ageing is then in concrete tanks for fifteen months. Rich, plush and juicy. Coming together beautifully a few years down the line. Intense red colour. Pleasant nose of raspberry liquor and wild pepper. The palate is full and smooth, with cherry and licorice stick lift on the finish. Utterly marvellous.

CWM Ranking - High 2:1 The best wine I have tasted from this usually reliable estate, an improvement even on the 2016 vintage. Packed with ripe fruit the extraction is well controlled, allowing the palate to build and remain fruity to the finish.
