Raymond Morin
The Saumur Champigny appellation covers red wines made in the 8 communes closest to Saumur. The name Champigny supposedly derives from the Latin campus igni (field of fire), named for the area’s exceptionally warm microclimate. 100% Cabernet Franc, this Saumur Champigny sees no oak giving a light, fresh style with abundant red cherry fruit. This is from the same producer as our superb Crémant.

Domaine Alain Gras
Packed full of wild strawberry fruit with hints of raspberry, the palate adds a touch of spice to the sweet fruit and even a touch of coffee. This is a lovely approachable wine. Alain Gras is the reference point for St-Romain. This extremely steep village was considered part of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune until 1947. The vineyards are set back from the main Côte and mostly at higher elevation and have unquestionably improved in quality by the changes in climate and no longer struggle to reach full physiological maturity. The domaine covers 12 hectares with 8ha being planted with Chardonnay and 4ha to Pinot Noir. There are 42 separate parcels but Alain prefers to blend the grapes into one cuvée.

Kloovenburg
This is a brilliant take on Mourvedre, which can be dense and chewy but here is almost ethereal. The extraction shows some sort of wizardry as the fruit lingers and the tannins are there but are somehow playful and certainly elegant. Well done winemaker Duncan Stuart for this wonderful wine. Because it has power and gracve you can pair it with many mediterranean style dishes. Tim Atkin "Made for the first time as a stand-alone wine in 2024, this is a small but very interesting release of just 1,200 bottles. Fermented with 40% whole bunches, it's a comparatively elegant expression of what can be a tannic grape, showing flavours of clove, pepper, plum and blood orange, a floral top note and savoury tannins." All grapes are handpicked during the early morning hours and then cooled overnight in a temperature - controlled room at 5°C. 40% of these grapes are then crushed and destemmed, whilst the remaining 60% is fermented as whole cluster. Natural fermentation takes place in open fermenters. Extraction is obtained by light punch - downs twice a day. After fermentation is completed, the wine is left on the skins for another seven days and then pressed to neutral oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is completed in the barrel. The wine is then racked from the lees and given a low dose of sulphur. The wine spends a total of 10 months in the barrel before it is bottled.

One of these is located alongside Château La Fleur behind Pétrus, and the other is set just in front of the Château Trotanoy. 93/100 Wine Advocate "Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Vray Croix de Gay opens with notes of warm blackberries, boysenberries and black raspberries with wafts of stewed tea, fragrant earth and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with expressive black fruit, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and spicy."

Domaine Odyssee
Natural, organic Grenache Noir from a beautiful vineyard in Baixas, Roussillon. Grown with great care and wildly fermented and aged in tank. Floral, pretty and minerally fresh red fruits with soft texture and generous fruit. Really delightful Grenache. Vincent Carreras has been working in wine industry for 13 years. For nine years he worked for a winery in the south of the Roussillon, Andy Cook’s Mas Cristine and Coume del Mas. Working in the vineyard, cellar and commercial activities - the whole shebang! For four years now he has been employed by a family winery based in Maury - Clos des Vins d'Amour. Who work 25 hectares organically in the west of Roussillon. Mostly in commercial activities, but also working in the cellar. Alongside this, in 2016, Vincent started a new project - Domaine Odyssée. The 3.5ha of vineyards are in Calce and Baixas, in a heart of Roussillon. The sites are small, but unquestionably some of the most beautiful we have seen. Vincent draws on the experiences mentioned above and his time in New Zealand (2011), Argentina (2012) and Bordeaux 2011 to help fully realise what he has there in his exceptional terroir. Vincent works organically, using no weedkillers, no chemical products. He works by hand and with organic fertilizer (he is in conversion right now). He harvests his parcels by himself with friends and family. In the cellar, Vincent’s philosophy is a minimum of intervention "To keep the fruit and the terroir.". The wines are extracted gently with just a little pump over. No filtration, no fining. The only preservative is a little dose of sulphites in very low quantities at bottling "It is important for me the stabilise the wine in respect of the future customers".

R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia
The wine is made from three quarters Tempranillo with the balance shared evenly between Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo. It has been aged for 6 years in American oak, with racking taking place twice every year. Chateau de Beaucastel
The 30 hectares of Coudoulet are located just east of the vineyard of Beaucastel on the other side of the A7 motorway. For reasons that have now become obvious, Coudoulet is often considered the baby Beaucastel. The Coudoulet soil has many similarities to that of Beaucastel. It is made out of Molasse seabed covered by diluvial alpine deposits. These pebbles called 'Galets Roulés' play a big role: They take in the heat during the day and let it if off slowly at night which gives a good start to the vines in the Spring.

Chateau Vincens
A perennial favourite with staff, customers, restaurants and colleges. Simply a great value classic South West wine from Cahors, France. Beautifully sweet cherry pie nose, with oak, flowers, spices, minerals and savoury beetroot notes. Wonderfully fine tannins, great concentration of ripe plums and dried fruits, and a very long finish. Displays real elegance and power. "Spicy aromas offering rich berry fruits give this dense, luxurious wine its structure and concentration. It is smoky, balancing acidity against blackberry flavors. The wine will age and will be ready to drink from 2025". 91/100 Roger Voss in Wine Enthusiast Magazine And also a wonderfully French tasting note in Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2023 "A very expressive Malbec-Merlot duo, open without reserve on very ripe black fruits, supported by a discreet and elegant woodiness. The palate is ample, generous, powerful in hardness, with a nice return of fruit and a long, fresh finish. A most harmonious Cahors which will be appreciated both young and weathered by time".

Azienda Agricola Vicentini Agostino
Vicentini is a family business where Agostino works with his wife, Teressa, and their children Emanuele and Francesca. Based in San Zeno, a village at the mouth of the Val d‘Illarsi which resides inside both the Soave and Valpolicella DOCs, but is outside of their respective Classico zones. But don't let this last point cloud your vision to their outstanding wines produced in two distinct and great terroirs. The first terroir is on volcanic rock within the Valle dei Ciliegi, here the land is largely responsible for their "Valpolicella" and "Soave Casale". The second terroir is on limestone in the commune of Terrelunghe, where Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave are grown for the 'Terrelunghe' Soave. Corvina (70%), Molinara (20%) and Corvinone (10%). Gorgeous, pale, juicy and joyous Valpolicella that has so much character and complexity but very little tannin and weight. So beautifully done. About as perfect and honest as a light red wine can be.

Kloovenburg
Winemaker Duncan Stuart has a great feel for these Mediterranean grape varieties and the quality of the wines oustrips their price by some margin, making it a delight to present his wines to our UK clients. Tim Atkin "The entry-point Syrah from Duncan Stuart is a stunner at the price, made with grapes from three comparatively young blocks on schist soils. Inky and intensely perfumed, it has violet and mountain herb aromas, rosemary, black olive and blackberry flavours and polished tannins. Hard to beat for value. 2026-32." All grapes are handpicked during the early morning hours. 85% of these grapes are then crushed and destemmed, whilst the remaining 15% is fermented as whole cluster. Natural fermentation takes place in both open fermenters and closed stainless steel tanks. Extraction is obtained by regular pump overs and punch downs. After fermentation is completed, the wine is pressed to neutral barrels. Malolactic bacteria are inoculated and malolactic fermentation is completed in the barrel. The wine is then racked from the lees and given a low dose of sulphur. The wine spends a total of 10 months in the barrel before it is blended and bottled.
