Weingut Max Ferd.Richter
For our selection of dry/trocken Rieslings from Single Vineyards we source all single vineyard wines from "Premier Cru" and "Grand Cru" vineyards from old vines. Fermentation is exclusively done in traditonal Fuders (old oak-barrels) where wines are maintained on the lees until bottling. These wines perfectly show the terroir of the given vineyard site. The range starts with the classical Kabinetts, the archetypical wine of the Mosel-Region, showing lightness and freshness with an almost airy elegance. They are generally lower in alcohol and have higher acid levels. The next step up are the "Alte Reben" selections (Old Vines, Vieilles Vignes). These are harvested from the oldest vines of our Crus with at least 75 years of age. They are powerful with richer body and well balanced minerality. On the top of the pyramid you find the GGs (Großes Gewächs/Grand Cru/Grand Vin). These Rieslings are grown in the best and oldest parts of our Grand Cru vineyards. These wines are the perfect combination of deepth, concentration, minerality and utmost precison and elegance. The result is simply mesmerizing. The wine does have a slight bite but above all, it is beautifully airy, packed with intense and remarkably fresh flavors (not an easy task in a vintage with record heat in the summer). This is one of those dry Riesling which home in on the fact that Mosel now produces some of the finest dry Riesling in the whole of Germany. As usual, great wines is rarely produced in gigantic quantities and this is no different with this GG. But, believe us, every effort should be made to lay ones hands on a few bottles of this divine juice

Danjou-Banessy
This Roboul cuvée exudes lifted fruit aromas in abundance with blackberries, blueberries, pomegranates and also gentle garrigue notes. On the palate it is velvety with curious, beautiful interest. There is a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity and it ends with a striking freshness. It's a marvelous wee wine. Full bottle 1,341 g. Single vineyard. 60% Mourvèdre (20 years old), 40% Grenache (30 years old) on pudding stone, clay, sand and limestone tuffeau. Hand-picked; whole-bunch, spontaneous fermentation; minimal cap work; very gently pressed. Fermented separately because the Mourvèdre ripens so much later than the Grenache. 12 months in old oak barrels of 600, 500 and 400 litres. "If Id not known what this wine was, and put it to my nose, my first guess would be Pinot Noir, Tasmania. Rosehips. Nectarine skin. Hibiscus tea. Morels. Then, after tasting it, Id change my mind. Id wonder if this was Cinsault, one of Alex Milners wraith-like beauties, perhaps: the bruised rose petals, the jasmine tea, the taste of prickly pears and dust and pungent-peppery-green at the back of my throat. Then I smell garrigue - cistus, broom heather, wild thyme, the smell of the wind blowing through holm oaks and twisted pines and I am in the south of France. This is the fey child of Roussillon. This is a wine that dances in the thin places". Very Good Value. Tamlyn Currin on jancisrobinson.com 18/20 jancisrobinson.com

Domaines des Lampyres
Francois Xavier AKA 'FX' worked with Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa for five years. He spent a further year with Domaine Danjou-Banessy. After such time this local lad set up in Espira to make his own wholly exciting wines which we are introducing the UK for the first time. One hundred percent thirty year old vine Syrah on red clay. Eight days skin macération whole bunch. Fermentation in stainless steel and aged seven months in a single 20 hl foudre. 2g/hl sulphites added just before bottling. This is like a fine, gentle Crozes-hermitage with wild notes and tangy blueberry fruit. Very smart and stylish wine from young FX.

Dom. d'Ourea
A unique, high-altitude plot selection, 1 hectare located at 520 meters (the highest vineyard in the appellation), on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in a place called "Grand Montmirail". It's a unique spot surrounded by holm oaks and limestone rocks, with a cool, breezy, light climate. Hand-harvested, half-destemmed then crushed, followed by a two-week infusion. Aged only in concrete vats to retain purity and delicacy. Bright ruby colour, with notes of Morello cherries, redcurrants and wild raspberries. The antithesis of traditional Gigondas with energy and a rare chalky density.

Bodegas Gratias
"Comboi", is a local Valencian expression that is used when a group of people come together to have a good time, full of enthusiasm and joy, a bit like the wine! This is a Pet Nat lightly sparkling wine created "metodo ancestral" from 100% Bobal grapes. Strawberry coloured fizz made with minimal intervention, offering up fine bubbles, aromas of red fruit and brioche notes. An enticing bitter dry twist on the finish adds freshness and makes this perfect to serve with food.

White Provence wines are a bit of a hidden treasure, little-known outside France but well-loved by wine buffs around the world. This example is typical, and very good value. Nice, mouth filling texture, the style reserved rather like Chablis. Delicate nose with notes of white flowers and citrus. Well balanced in the mouth, it is fresh, with great vivacity and a hint of bitterness with salty aromas. Nice length.

Chateau Ferrand
Nicely mature Pomerol made from 95% Merlot. Plummy, vanilla nose with velvety tannins and ripe bright fruit. Great with steak. From south-facing slopes at Château Ferrand, this generous wine has a beautiful deep pomegranate colour and typical scents of violets, ripe plums, cherries and blackcurrants. There is plenty going on besides these fruity and floral notes, with suggestions of cedar, old leather, truffles and coffee beans roasting. In the mouth, there's a delicious, silky smoothness of elegant and perfumed fruit, with, again, supporting flavours of coffee and herbs, with supple tannins in a long, satiny finish.

Natural, biodynamic and vegan. Grenache, Carignan and now (for the first time) Mourvedre from 80 year old vines, Made without filtering or fining. Pale but gorgeous mid red colour. At first on the nose, you are like "What even is that?". Whatever it is, you know that you like it. Elegant, subtle fruit is intermixed with gentle herb, earth and savoury charachters. Deep and wonderful. On the palate the wine is elegant and deep again, but not heavy in the slightest. Ruffled fruit and savoury notes with minerality and real finesse. These wines are like no other from the Roussillon. Outstanding. Magnum sized.

Agricola Vintners
Callum Powell has learnt from the best when it comes to Syrah. He practically grew up in the cellars at Torbreck, the Barossa winery his father co-founded, watching it grow from the modest start up in a small shed to the international power house of today. He spent a year at Jean-Louis Chave in the Northern Rhone, one of THE top producers of Hermitage and St Joseph, learning more about his craft. His recent project with his father named Powell & Son sought out the best vineyards in Barossa and Eden and experimented with natural winemaking and indigenous yeasts, and gained him much international attention. Callum now brings his knowledge and natural instinct to his own wines. Sourcing fruit from his family's vineyards as well as the famous Hoffmann sites, Callum is quickly stepping out of his fathers shadow and making a name for himself. His time in Hermitage and the many hours working the perilously steep slopes of the vineyards continues to influence him today. His wines are both named after the towns from which the fruit is sourced, recalling the site specific way of naming wines in Hermitage. And he even likens his different wines to the characteristics produced from the different lieux-dits of Chave. Producing wines with a very light hand, with only minimal SO2 added a atr bottling, Callum aims to create lithe wines that are pure, unadulterated, and without the heavy oak influence that the region is known for, with a true traceability of place. Classic, bold, rich and beautiful Ebenezer fruit but with real energy and acidity. Pretty much perfect Barosssa Shiraz. It's classic, but modern - in the best sense. Absolutely wonderful. 12 bottles only available. Be quick!

Savage
Duncan Savage matriculated at Rondebosch Boys High School in 1995. In 2016. Savage Wines was set up in the heart of Cape Town in Salt River. Vineyards for his wines are leased and grapes sourced from around the Western Cape, maritime in nature where possible. Granitic soil is the focus. From Duncan Savage: Savage White is made up of three vineyard sites grown in a combination of sandstone and granite soils. Elevation of the sites ranges from 213m to 677m above sea level with a combination of trellised and bush vine plantings. Grapes are given a fair amount of sun exposure through the season to ensure ripe fruit is processed. Overnight cooling is followed by whole bunch pressing and oxidative handling. The juice is transferred to a selection of 500L barrels (20% new) and concrete eggs where spontaneous fermentation and aging takes place. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the Semillon and occasionally the Sauvignon Blanc depending on the vintage. Wines are aged for 12 months in barrel and concrete followed by a further 2-3 months in stainless steel, and finally bottling. The warmer vintage conditions have resulted in a slightly more fruit forward wine than was the case in 2021. Blackcurrant leaf, pineapple, pear and grapefruit backed by subtle wood spice. The palate is tightly wound with characteristic salinity, texture and length. A wine that will continue to reward over the next 10 years

From Duncan Savage: Grapes sourced from the Langverwagt farm in Kuils River on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Decomposed granite soils overlooking Table Bay and False Bay, a perfect home for maritime Stellenbosch Syrah. Three parcels of vines, all trellised but farmed as a sprawl canopy - a trellised bush vine of sorts. Soils are poor, vigour is low and grapes are scarce, all a perfect recipe for classically styled Syrah. All the fruit is sorted as whole bunches before spontaneous fermentation in conical foudre and open top fermenters. 30% of the fruit is fermented as submerged cap with regular aeration, the balance as a normal fermentation with 2-4 aerated pump overs per day. 2-3 weeks on skins is followed by basket pressing and aging in old 500L barrels for 13 months. The wine then spends a further 10 months in foudre prior to bottling. 2021 is a classic vintage. Obviously Im slightly biased, but I do feel that this wine may be one of the best Savage Reds we have made to date. Plums, lavender, cola, violets and the characteristic Langverwagt white pepper. The palate is taught and focused compliments of the granitic soil tannin structure and a classic vintage. A wine that will drink well for the next 10-15 years

A A Badenhorst
A delightful, but serious 100% Mourvedre Rose. You pick up the delightful hints of cranberry, redcurrants and wild roses. A beautiful drink. Delicious with a vegetable tart, salad, bbq fish and chicken. While you don't want to overthink rose, this one is actually quite sophisticated, with its texture, quite a gastronomic example of rose and a good one for drinking in the cooler months. The elegance of the fruit and texture makes us think of a rather stylish white wine as it floats in the mouth, and then you get the delicious notes of cranberry cut in.

Wonderful Rose made from a direct pressing of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. Frederic Julien seeks a balance between the aromatic purity of the fruit and freshness. The grapes come from a place named "La Giraude" in Sainte Cécile les Vignes. The soils can be likened to "nourishing" garrigues. The wine shows pink grapefruit, red fruits and flowers, gorgeous texture and perfect weight and freshness. Fine length. Unique and wonderful. Can be drunk on its own or will match well at the table with grilled vegetables, fish and light meat dishes.

Pares Balta
Deep purple colour, with ruby notes at the edge. An intense, complex and aromatic nose of red fruit preserve and toasty oak leads into a palate that is initially soft before the ripe tannins and fresh, slaty acidity add structure to the flesh. Rich but not at all heavy, the fruit and mineral flavours continue into the long, fresh finish. Gratavinum was established in 2003 when the owners of Parés Baltà - brothers Joan and Josep Cusiné and their winemaking wives Maria Elena Jiménez and Marta Casas - decided to invest in the wild Priorat landscape. The estate, which takes its name from the contraction of Gratallops (the name of the village where the winery is located) and Vinum (Latin for wine), is run by the Cusiné family and winemaker Jordi Fernandez. Today, Gratavinum possesses 17 organically-farmed hectares of terraced vineyards, which are rich in Llicorella, a slate and quartz soil. Working with old vines of indigenous grapes as well as newcomer varietals, they produce powerful structures wines with the distinctive mineral character of Priorat.

Kanonkop
One of the most legendary Stellenbosch wines. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels, rather like a fine classed growth Claret. Complex, layered and intense aromas of cassis, plums, spiced oak and cigar boxon the nose. The palate is rich and supple, with seamless fruit / oak integration, delicate tannins and a fine seam of acidity. Layers and layers of plush fruit explodes in the mouth with concentrated flavours of tomato cocktail, black and red fruits, and stewed meat. A wine of immense purity, depth and freshness. A subtle note of mint on the finish completes a wine filled with detail.

A pure fruited, natural wine without additional sulphites. Shimmering fruit backed up by gorgeous savouriness and delightful floral notes - this is a real star for those who like a little restraint and class in their glass (only 13% abv). Gian Luca Colombo
After Gian Luca completed his Masters in Viticulture and Oenology after 11 years of study and worked as a wine consultant across Italy in 2011 he started his own small winery in the heart of his native Langhe. Within 3 years he won the Gambelli award for Young Winemaker of the Year. His small Segni di Langa estate is located in Roddi in Barolo country and working sustainably he takes a very minimal interventionist approach allowing each vintage to showcase itself. Making his wines in the 'garage' beneath his house he typifies the small scale, high quality, personal style of winemaking. Magliano Alfieri village, 290m, 88y-old vines. Roddi village 200-250m, 45 to 60y-old vines. Part of this wonderful Barbera d'Alba comes from a vineyard by Gian Luca's house. The wines has so much lovely fruit and richness with such vibrant freshness. It isn't in the least bit 'blockbuster'. No heaviness, no 'make up'. Simply a beautiful drink that delivers sheer class and great pleasure. Not blockbuster, but it is knock-out good.

Dom. d'Ourea
From the Grand Montmirail, high altitude vineyards (400 to 520 meters). The foot of the vineyards consist of a red marl that brings the muscle and virility. In middle and higher slopes limestone bedrock is increasingly present, this transmits the wines tension and raciness. Direct, pure wines. 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault in 2021. Grapes destemmed, crushed and a short infusion follows. Wildly fermented and only matured in concrete tank to expose the complexity and natural tension of the wine. This is a full, broad wine, but elegant and still vibrating. The originality and beauty of the site is transmitted with energy. This Gigondas shows you this character, this minerality - water of rock, wine of rock. 4/5 stars from John Livingstone-Learnmouth on Drink Rhone: "The Gigondas vineyards are above 400 metres, notably on Grand Montmirail, with Grenache leading at 70%. The raising in concrete, the style lighter. The 2021 Gigondas 'O.... a successful **** w.o.w. wine, balanced and well together.... ....quite a firm red colour; the bouquet collects around a discreetly sweet aroma of raspberry, a little herbal tang attached, is a steady, sure opening that carries appeal. The palate surfs along on a bonny wave of red fruits, has a little tingle in its tannins, holds its line well into the finish. Its nicely balanced, well together, w.o.w. Gigondas, can be drunk now, will offer openly as it evolves, has gone for tuning over strength. 13.5°. Drink until 2030-31"
