Chateau Citran
Chateau Citran is one of the best performing Crus Bourgeois wines and this second wine is suave and sophisticated. Mint, blackcurrant and cigar box aromas lead to a velvety pallet. A second wine means that it's made from slightly younger vines than the Grand Vin, but with just as much care. An excellent freshness, balancing acidity, ripe fruit flavour and a great potential to improve with age. It has perfumed notes of raspberry, black cherry and strawberry, a great texture and a long finish

Au Bon Climat
Strawberries and blackberries aromas slowly rise out of the glass. Overtime, more of the anise and clove will mix with these other aromas. Currently, the wine is young with mouth filling intensity and suppleness. Complexity will increase as the wine ages, but this wine should stay fresh for 6 or 7 years. In its youth, match this wine with lamb or dried meats. After a few years, as the flavors coalesce, it will pair better with salmon or mild red sauce with pasta.

Another of the superstar family wineries of Piedmont. Langhe Nebbiolo is to Barolo what "Rosso" is to Montepulciano - same grape, land, winemakers - but ready to wear and approachable. This charmer is herbal and juicy, super-classic, great value.

Wow this is delicious. Typical of high-altitude cooler northern Piedmont sites - Burgundian in style, even tawny, savoury, a little leathery. Lovely date/fig nose, evolved, beautifully resolved tannins. Jancis Robinson OBE MW "Pale ruby. Heady and hedonistic nose. A little dusty and tannic on the finish after a relatively light-bodied palate. This doesnt just call for food it needs it! Quite long." Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Croatina. This splendid 10 hectare hillside estate is situated in the small town of Lessona, near Biella in northern Piemonte. It passed into the De Marchi family (of top Chianti Classico estate Isole e Olena) through their relative, Felice Sperino, a passionate viticulturist and professor in Turin.

Roger Sabon
One of our best-selling Rhone wines, the new 2022 reflects the joy of this great vintage. Big and grunty, naughtily purple, with that classy Lirac sweet-fruited lift. Hard to beat with grilled lamb and rosemary. A must-try. Sabon is a Chateauneuf super-star and this their only Cru wine beyond Chateauneuf itself. Robert M. Parker, Jr (the world?s most influential wine reviewer), who awarded their 1988 vintage a perfect 100 rating, the first Chateauneuf-du-Pape so honoured, has this to say about Domaine Roger Sabon: "This estate has been at the top of its game for many years and any partisan of Rhone Valley wines (especially the southern Rhone) who has not yet tried a wine from Domaine Roger Sabon should make every effort to do so."

Bodega Classica
Elegant and round. It is well balanced with a velvety attack followed by a pleasant acidity and a silky and full-bodied aftertaste resulting from its noble and ripe tannin. Its long aftertaste has spicy and balsamic hints, resulting from its long and peaceful ageing, as well as confit fruit nuances that uncover its personality.

Radical, exciting, natural - a wow wine. "The enigma that is Raúl Pérez continues to enthral wine lovers the world-over with his own-brand of inspiring, light touch winemaking. Having almost single-handedly put Bierzo on the map, Raúls guru-like status (and appearance!) has inspired a whole new generation of dynamic winemakers across the entirety of Spain." Saint Jacques is by far the most important wine I make. Old-vine material from all over Bierzo. Mostly clay and sand-based sites, roughly 85% clay and 15% sand, fermented in traditional oak vats (ex-Vega Sicilia) with 80% whole bunches and kept on the skins for 2 months before pressing into neutral barrel for a further 10 months of aging. Mencia based but picked according to the natural field composition, therefore including smaller proportions of Alicante Bouschet, Trousseau, Palomino, and other wild grapes. One of Spains most exciting entry- level wines. Named after the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage (aka Chemin de Saint Jacques) which passes through the Bierzo region."

An unusual blend of varieties but this wine has the characteristic energy youd expect from Italian reds. Deliciously succulent with smoky, dark cherry fruit, subtle spice and a mouth-watering finish.

Superstar winery, frankly all they make is exceptional. This Barbera I think the star of their more entry-level wines: creamy, yummy, supple, bramble mint, fig and vanilla. The Wine Advocate G.D. Vajra earns top scores for its perfectly designed portfolio of Piedmont wines. Well balanced against various price points (and all very reasonable), the estate offers excellent high-end Barolos from single vineyards, the super accessible and charming Barolo Albe, and a whole range of lower-end wines that are all creative in terms of graphics and design and extremely innovative in terms of winemaking, blends and overall approach. The G.D. Vajra portfolio should be a model for all sorts of up-and-coming wineries. Heres another food-friendly wine from beautiful Piedmont. The 2021 Barbera d'Alba shows a dark purplish hue and saturated fruit flavors of dried blackberry and black cherry. There are hints of crushed mineral or oyster shell as well. 91/100

Fruit from La Morra and Monforte Barolo sub-regions, vines 20-50 yeas old. Organic, environmentally friendly, super-low sulphur. Altare is a star of Piedmont, their style lipid, pure and honest. This Nebbiolo is super-class, juicy and Burgundian, a perfect easy-to-love expression of the grape without the bold tannin of Barolo.

Lanzerac
The 2020 Pinotage boasts an excellent deep colour, ripe berries and plums, smoky eucalyptus and gentle leather on the nose. Intensely ripe brambles and brioche with a good mouth-feel and lingering aftertaste. Lovely. And will improve. Great value for money. Nobody's been bottling Pinotage longer than Lanzerac and this wine shows a wealth of experience with this proudly South African variety. With 5 to 10 years' maturation this wine will start to acquire the velvet density and luxurious chocolate and caramel flavours of its very early Lanzerac predecessors. A full-bodied, complex wine with a beautiful balance between fruit and wood showcasing a good tannin structure that will allow it to age extremely well.
