Domaine Bachey-Legros
Really delightful wine from a top vineyard site in Santenay village, made from very old vines. Santenay is a bit tucked away from the better known Burgundy villages and the wines are well worth checking out. We think Sam and Lenaic Legros make the best red Santenay of all the producers, picking late and making heady, dark and voluptuous wines that put a smile on your face. Top class Pinot Noir that lovers of good Burgundy will like but also people who like New World Pinots too.

Henri Prudhon & Fils
Les Enseignères is one of those stealth values in the complex world of Burgundy. Its western border forms the eastern edge of Batard-Montrachet, and it is one of the rare spots in the Cote d’Or where a grand cru slopes directly down into village-level territory with no premier cru in between. The Prudhons own just shy of a hectare of quite old vines here between 30 and 80 years of age.

Chateau Tronquoy
The wines of Château Tronquoy-Lalande know how to seduce from their youth and gain in elegance after several years in cellar. In their blends we find the particularity of the estate's grape varieties, atypical for a Saint-Estèphe wine, dominated by Merlot, which fruit combines with the power of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The hint of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc adds freshness, finesse and aromatic complexity.

Danbury Ridge
Something of Pouilly-Fuissé in the style here, a rich oak-infused nose, but on the palate linear, mineral and refined. Elegant, broad and complex, so unlike other English chardonay. Super-premium estate sited in the warmest, driest corner of England, near the coast and Malden (of posh salt fame). This south-facing ridge enjoys an exceptionally long warm growing season - so rare in England. Our old friend John Atkinson, Master of Wine, who is an expert on cool-climate viticulture, is enthusiastically involved. Winemaker is Liam Idzikowski who boasts long experience in English wine-making; backed by owners the Bunker family, the winery is an astonishing no-expense-spared jewel in the crown for English wine.

Domaine Christian Bergeret et Fille
Tucked away in the Hautes Cotes de Beaune village of Nolay you will find Clothilde Bergeret, the energetic leader of the family business started by his father Christian. The family has some rather excellent vineayrds in Chassagne, Beaune and Saint Aubin mainly. The philosophy is to make wines of pleasure, with ripeness and oak marking them out as wines to enjoy and to impress. 2/3rd new oak. Dense, sweet spice, yellow fruit, quince, savoury nose. Intense, spicy palate. Weighty, and round with powerful but well integrated oak, and balanced acidity. Generous rather than intense.

Kanonkop
One of the most legendary Stellenbosch wines. 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels, rather like a fine classed growth Claret. Complex, layered and intense aromas of cassis, plums, spiced oak and cigar boxon the nose. The palate is rich and supple, with seamless fruit / oak integration, delicate tannins and a fine seam of acidity. Layers and layers of plush fruit explodes in the mouth with concentrated flavours of tomato cocktail, black and red fruits, and stewed meat. A wine of immense purity, depth and freshness. A subtle note of mint on the finish completes a wine filled with detail.

Bodega Tapiz
Intense red colour. Aromas reminiscent of red fruits, blackberries, cassis and dried plums with a delicate hint of vanilla, coffee and chocolate, well integrated. On the palate it is intense but gentle, with ripe sweet tannins. Long finish. The deep red colour anticipates the aromatic intensity of this wine that is full of aromas and flavours of blackberries, raspberries and dried plums, as well as notes of spices and cassis. Its passage through oak provides well integrated notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. The tannins are ripe and friendly and well integrated into the exquisite wine. A lovely aged Argentinian red, beautifully smooth and complex. To produce this wine, the winemaker select every year the best 80 barrels in the winery , we have around 2000, and blend them, that wine spent around 12 month in the barrel as a single varietal, after the blending, wine goes back to barrel for 6six or more months. As in the winery the majority of varietals are Malbec, Cabernet and Merlot, then the proportion of these varieties is always higher in the wine.

Lupa Wines
Mineral and herbaceous aromas on the nose. Red fruits, mint and eucalyptus. A beautiful wine. This has got to be one of the best Malbecs I have tasted in a long time. Juan Pablo Lupa is such a passionate wine maker and the intensity shows in his wines. Rich and elegant, not too heavy, very smooth and silky. Lovely flavours with vanilla coming through on the lvery long finish.

Gian Luca Colombo
After Gian Luca completed his Masters in Viticulture and Oenology after 11 years of study and worked as a wine consultant across Italy in 2011 he started his own small winery in the heart of his native Langhe. Within 3 years he won the Gambelli award for Young Winemaker of the Year. His small Segni di Langa estate is located in Roddi in Barolo country and working sustainably he takes a very minimal interventionist approach allowing each vintage to showcase itself. Making his wines in the 'garage' beneath his house he typifies the small scale, high quality, personal style of winemaking. 60% Barolo village, 370m. 40% Dogliani Village, 350 to 550m. North / North-East facing. From north facing vineyards that are well-protected from the hot sun. After fermentation with only natural, wild yeasts the wine is then aged in amphora and large Stockinger barrels. Gian Luca is a bit a dab hand with Pinot Nero, having started producing it prior to turning his hand to Nebbiolo and the rest. Truffley, with the scents of sous bois and woodland earth. Leading to spicy cinnamon and clove and piercing fruit - cherries, redcurrants and pomegranate. Fine, long, pure and vibrant Pinot Nero.

Il Palazzone
Generally regarded by all at CWM as one of the very best wines that we import. Truly wonderful old school, fine, vibrant and utterly extraordinary Brunello di Montalcino from a wonderful single site. This wine is produced with grapes from the vineyard Le Due Porte which surrounds the cellar at 540 metres above sea level. This wine maintains the typical structure of a Brunello vecchio stampo and epitomizes finesse and elegance. Vinified to take advantage of its notable tannins and acidity to evolve beautifully over the next decade and beyond, it is juicy and complex. With only a few vintages in the bottle so far, this special wine is elegant and distinguished and drinks well in its youth, while promising to age beautifully. "...my informed guess is that this estate is going to be the denomination’s next shooting star" Walter Speller - jancisrobinson.com chief Italian specialist in 2024

Chapel Down
From an exceptional south-facing single vineyard set high on the North Downs. Without question the best still English wine I have tasted. It’s mouth-fillingly fine with rounded, supple peach-like fruit and an ever so slightly toasty, vanilla finish thanks to nine months in French oak. If you like serious white Burgundy or Chablis, you’ll love this.

Ridge Vineyards
The 2022 Lytton Estate Petite Sirah manages to capture the power of the variety within an accessible wine. The nose is deep and inky, but lifted by floral notes; the palate is tannic and mineral-driven, yet has a juiciness to the fruit that renders it delicious even at this early stage.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht
This is an astonishing and almost perfect expression of Gewurztraminer; floral, smoky and spicy, then terrific concentration and balance and length, with some juicy sweetness detectable and adding to the enjoyment of the whole. Very, very fine. The sedimentary limestone geology, mostly located on the Vosges mountains foothills in Alsace, has always been the prime choice for producing long lived and structured Gewurztraminer wines. The presence of clay, more or less important, brings a cooler element in the soil, slowing down the ripeness process and preserving better acidity. The presence of limestone influences the aromatic profile and texture of the wine. They become more spicy, less floral, with a recognisable tighter tannic structure so crucial for the balance of the wine. Gewurztraminer, more than any other in Alsace, requires an accomplished skin ripeness. Failing so can end up in an over aromatic, not complex and bitter wine. The quality of the terroir will help greatly, but so does harvesting later! Since the acidity is naturally low, harvesting later isn’t affecting the wine as much as other grapes that would suffer more from acidity loss. All the grapes going into this wine are sourced from the estate's top single vineyards or Grands Crus, where they use the 'younger' vines. Pale yellow gold colour. The nose is very expressive showing intense exotic fruits aromas (litchi, mango, passion fruit, grapefruit…). It sounds like a cliché, but the wine is actually elegant and racy. The palate is fresh, quite tense and vibrant. Nice sweetness on the finish very well balance by ripe tannins. This is a classic medium sweet Gewurztraminer that shows that it originates from good vineyards. It can be enjoyed young but will develop more complexity (spiciness) with age.

Felton Road
A vivid nose of deep florals: dark roses, violets, and an undertow of ripe red fruit. The palate really shows the best of each vineyard that makes up the cuvée. A pure but powerful drive of fruit on a perfect cusp of ripeness, with complexing notes of sandalwood and spice. This is all about harmony and balance with the transparency of fruit allowing the detail to shine through. Silken tannins finish the package. Blank Canvas
Varietal with a gentle herbacous quality transitioning into ripe white fleshed fruits of apple and lemon, a touch of pineapple then a light white vegtable quality. Crisp, taut, fruity, refreshing and dry with complexity from bottle development and a whisper of toastiness, there is plenty to admire, but this wine is also young with acidity and energy as well. As the wine becomes more ambient the flavours and textures grow and develop. A thoroughly interesting example, balanced and well made.
